Not much going on on the idiot box and I can’t take another election post-mortem, so we’re playing some X3 and WoT and whatever else, so if you want to join in, email me and I will send you the vent info.

The Snarxist Formerly Known as Kryptik
I get the feeling I’m mostly going to be burying myself in Smash Brothers and TF2 for the next few months. Just shut the rest of the world out and vent my rage in a game rather than on a wall.

@The Snarxist Formerly Known as Kryptik: For me it’s going to be Dragon Age Inquisition. Nov 18 can’t come soon enough. Until then, I’m going to bike, cook and run and ignore the internet as best I can.

When our President killed Osama, my son was living here temporarily. He was playing some game and said that the chatter feed said something big happened. Funny cuz it was an hour later before we knew for sure.

No one plays Green Thumb Cards anymore?

Okay, would highly, HIGHLY recommend PayDay 2 for anyone who can get 4 players together. The game is stupidly addicting, some of the best co-op I’ve ever played.
Also: Fantasy Life on the 3DS, X3 is definitely awesome, and can’t wait for Dragon Age: Inquisition. :)

Doing Crash Landing in Minecraft. I’m to the point where water and food are no problem, but there’s just not enough electricity anywhere. Getting nether quartz fo AE cells is a pain because making soul sand requires my precious drinking water and sand, which means I need to power the pulverizer for two runs.
While it’s a great, challenging map, I feel like the quests don’t flow together as well as they could. I’m really looking forward to Agrarian Skies with AE2 in it. I have a feeling it’s going to get a lot harder.

I need a new computer game – last one I bothered to buy was SC2: Heart of the Swarm. Strategy / RPG preferred – thoughts?
Forkbeard
@PsiFighter37: Divinity: Original Sin is a fantastic old-schoolish type computer RPG that just came out 6 months ago. Very tactical, and a great RPG besides.
Would also recommend Wasteland 2 if you like older style CRPGs. Otherwise…. Shadowrun Returns – Dragonfall. Or wait a few days and pick up Valkyria Chronicles on the PC when it releases. Because that game is flat-out amazing.

OT, but I think this headline says more about NewsMax’s target audience than even they would want to admit:

@PsiFighter37: Valkyria Chronicles is pre order on Steam, newly ported to PC. It’s a beautiful game (seriously, so beautiful) and really fun strategy RPG. Kotaku link.
ETA: @Forkbeard: Heh.
ETA2: Also, too, Dragon Age. Always Dragon Age.

@PsiFighter37: I second Divinity. I really liked it. Wasteland 2 was fun, as well.
About to have someone start teaching me the basics of X3, which is apparently very complex.
If you just want a shooter, I love love love World of Tanks and World of Warplanes.
Mike J
@John Cole +0: I played World of Warplanes for a while, and really liked it. Then stuff came up and I got out of the habit of playing it, and when I went back I sucked again. I really should get my mojo back.
Laertes
By X3 do you mean, like, Albion Prelude?
Howard Beale IV
@PsiFighter37: Goat Simulator.
Omnes Omnibus
@Howard Beale IV: Dear god, that’s actually a thing.
Mike in NC
@Omnes Omnibus: Only for Mickey Kaus and goats?
John Cole +0
@Laertes: Yes.

@Mnemosyne: The few people we know who subscribe to NewsMax drive Cadillacs and never exceed 30mph.
Omnes Omnibus
@Mike in NC: Mickey Kaus/goat jokes never really get old, do they?
Mnemosyne
@Howard Beale IV:
I am not a gamer, but just the trailer for that game made me laugh and laugh.
And now it’s available for both Android and iPhone!

John,
Last night, Doug posted a non-politics thread which I found extremely therapeutic and cathartic in light of the election results. I look forward to seeing more threads of this nature over the next 2 years to help chase the blues away.
dmsilev
@Mnemosyne: That’s appropriate. The game started out life as a joke, and just sort of grew from there.
Rich (In Name Only) in Reno
To help avoid the intertubes for the next few days, I will be reading another in my stack of thrift store scores, “Beasts, Men and Gods” by Ferdinand Ossendowski (1923.) He was a White Russian officer who fled from the Bolsheviks (killing scores of them along the way if he’s to be believed) to a safe haven in Chinese-controlled Manchuria by the roundabout way of Siberia, Mongolia and Tibet. And from what I’ve read elsewhere, Ossendowski’s story takes a turn for the weird when he encounters this lunatic warlord named Baron Ungern Von Sternberg. It sounds like a pulp story, but it’s supposed to be true. The book was a best seller in its day.
Omnes Omnibus
@Rich (In Name Only) in Reno: Ungern-Sternberg was a real person.

Jumping back into wowcrack for Warlords Cole? Mrs Humperdink and I have our first little one due in 3 weeks so I’m not going to have the usual amount of time to put into it, but my pink-haired gnomish ice machine of death will bite a few orcish ankles when circumstances allow. The plot seems ridiculous even by WoW standards, but I do enjoy the deliberately cartoonish elements of the world.
Comrade Nimrod Humperdink
@Howard Beale IV: That trailer is fantastic

A Balloon Juice Blizzard battle.net list would be pretty awesome if anyone put one together. I’d definitely throw my tag in the hat.
