Well, this may be the most amusing diversity initiative we’ve seen in a while. Jon Abarr, a member of the Montana KKK is apparently recruiting for a more inclusive group:
“The KKK is for a strong America,” Abarr told the Tribune. “White supremacy is the old Klan. This is the new Klan.” Abarr says that his views on race have been evolving, and that he is prepared to walk away from his decades of work with white supremacist organizations in Montana and Wyoming. This new Klan, Abarr said, will dedicate itself to fighting the federal government and its attempts to establish a “new world order” under a single, worldwide government.
Response from the Klan, not surprisingly, has been skeptical:
“That man’s going against everything the bylaws of the constitution of the KKK say,”said Bradley Jenkins, imperial wizard of the United Klans of America to the Tribune‘s Kristen Cates. “He’s trying to hide behind the KKK to further his political career.”
If there is one group that prides itself on lack of diversity, it’s these guys. You don’t want to lose what’s special about you, do you, you special snowflakes?
Team Blackness also discussed college ladies practicing their rape faces in the mirror, ACLU’s mobile justice app, and the disappearing black middle class.

Even more amusing the KKK disavowed #gamergate as a cesspool of illegal harassment and misogynists.
The KKK finds you too extreme….that’s…something right?

Would I be too pessimistic to believe that this new initiative will give cover to those rugged iconoclasts who want to blaze a new trail in rediscovering how cool and un-PC it is to now embrace the New Klan?
The Right marches boldly ever further to the fascist zone, while the old school fascists tiptoe out to greet them.

Well, that’ll never work. Even outside the obvious reason that no one will want to join Abarr’s newly egalitarian klan – non-racists and minorities won’t join because KLAN, and racists won’t join because not supremacist – there’s also the problem that the Tea Party already stands for all the stuff Abarr wants* and, for better or worse, has way better branding and marketing – at least for the time being.
(*Assuming Abarr wants to still be racist, but denying it instead of letting his white hood fly proudly.)

Wait, what? Montana and Wyoming have KKK branches? Isn’t that like having wildfirefigher stations on the South Pole? What do they discuss at meetings, cotton versus poly-cotton blend bedsheets? Those are some lazy paranoid motherhumpers.

Hey, #twib, check out what’s going down in Minneapolis today. A fabricated, racist narrative is being used to go after black voter registration efforts, attack our white female mayor (who ran on a racial equity platform), sow dissention amongst police (led by a woman chief), and frighten segments of the community.
Yes, #pointegate was burning up the twitterverse this morning with lots of mocking of the idiot TV station, but that will be a flash in the pan nationally.
For us living here, its kind of shocking to see a network affiliate (ABC) using such an obviously biased story to push its agenda. A longtime local print reporter noted that they may have committed libel in framing the story with none of the usual even perfunctory effort to get the “other side” of the story.
That’s because if they had, the whole frame would evaporate in 12 seconds.
Anyway, we’re sort of reeling in the face of such blatant racism. Time to organize. Again!

Actually, it sounds as though Abarr has come to the conclusion that several prominent young white supremacists have come to: namely, that they were wrong about whites being better than everyone else. He’s not quite ready to let go of the KKK (just as many Roman Catholics are not quite ready to leave the church despite disagreeing with 99 percent of its doctrine) but it sounds like he’s realized that the basis of his philosophy is bogus.

@RaflW:
OMG, Disney is encouraging kids to flash gang signs! Just look at this damning evidence!

@RaflW:
More gang signs from Disney! Will no one think of the children?!

@Liberty60: Old school, 1930s, fascism has a strong, centralized state with a single leader at its core, something that’s anathema to the current American right wing. Maybe a strong state would serve their purposes, but it is ideologically impossible for them to support that.
What they are heading for is more some kind of neo-feudalism with a weak central authority and powerful local rulers who have direct influence over the lives of their serfs.

I suspect the new Klan will be even less of an improvement than the new Koch.
