@Tommy: He already has. Since the first game (a disaster) it’s mostly been all good: 68% passing completions, 22 TDs, QB rat. 114, total yards this year 2,519 and so on. Rather impressive, no?

Oh, and RG Cheese. That shit is just simply too good.
Finally someone told Snyder to STFU and let the football people make the right decision to bench him. I feel bad for whatever team is foolish enough to trade for him.

@Corner Stone: Because he’s Sidearm Stafford. Granted, I’m not actually watching the game but there is no pass that Stafford might make that would surprise me. He’s spoiled by having a guy who can make a touchdown catch even in tight triple coverage and so he spends a lot of time throwing the ball around randomly, hoping Johnson will pull it down.
14.
Corner Stone
@Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN): Bracketed double coverage at the end zone with a trailing DB underneath and he floats one that has about 18 inches of possible clearance to Johnson.

Not a lot of rushing in this game.
Today marks three weeks since the interview after which they told me they’d make a decision within a week. This is really frustrating. I know that it’s a regular occurrence but it shouldn’t be; people need to make some connection between how quickly they will make something happen and how long they say it will take.
I called them last Tuesday and they said they were still trying to talk to people in HR and their own supervisors. I’m wondering whether I should call again sometime next week.

We have a friendly round of picking games amongst the relos on Turkey Day. I have Detroit (-7), Dallas (-3) and the under (40) for SF v Seattle. It kills me to pick Dallas, but short weeks are really tough on visiting teams. Ask Kansas City.
And I hate Seattle as much as any lifelong 49ers fan, but that game really is a coin toss.
The only downside to today’s games is the announcers. Nance/Simms duo, yechh. Buck/Aikman: at least Troy is a good color guy.

I can’t stand looking at Jay Cutler. He has to be autism spectrum… man does not have ability to look people in the eye or have any kind of relationship — much less leadership — with his team.. The Bears are fools, having paid this guy 45 million for 3 years guaranteed — and he is showing them how bad that decision was. He is paid more than any other quarterback in the NFL and every day he lines up, its a slap in the face to any true quarterback. The Bears are so screwed for the foreseeable future. I won’t talk about the coaching which is another disgusting problem for this team. Sick —

I keep trying to emphasize the theme of athletes as gladiators, and how we currently watch sports that end up injuring, of not killing, athletes for our entertainment.

I know its no comfort but this is the world in which we live. Places with jobs feel no need to be the least bit understanding or humane. I don’t assume it will help to call them again as they already know you are interested and I doubt you can make them move it any faster than they are going to. You might call the other part of the process though, call HR if you had called the hiring manager or the manager if you called HR just to see if their stories match and to keep them aware you are concerned. Not sure that will help but also don’t think it will hurt your chances either.
@Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN): I’d say no to another call too. They know you’re interested, you followed up, ball’s in their court and you don’t want to look desperate, even if that’s how you feel.
Right there with ya, BTW. My new job is great, except that so far I only work a max of about 10 hours a week, and that’s not going to pay many bills. They said they could guarantee 25 a week minimum. So I’m starting the job hunt again. Le sigh.
I was planning on sticking around long enough to have dinner and get some work done but I think I’m just going to buy a pie and go home. I’ll take a nap with the cats, eventually have pie for dinner, and get work done there with no internet.
And can I just post a bleg for the spay/neuter group I’m on the board of? We’ve been doing an Indegogo fundraiser that has been pitiful, mainly because only I got anyone to contribute (and some board members will be getting a heave-ho soon I think).
We have 4 pets lined up right now for surgeries, and another foster kitten with a kidney stone needing surgery. Any help gratefully appreciated:
And sorry to ask so soon, but there’s only 56 hours left.

@satby: I worked for a non-profit and the policy for Board members was: Either directly give a minimum of $10,000 a year or provide names of individual/foundation/corporation funders who can give a minimum of $10,000. They were actually told this, it wasn’t unstated. We had several board members who gave both themselves and through contacts obtained way more than $10,000 for us.

@satby: Made a contribution. Hope that you get more donations today. Do you have vet or clinic that your organization usually works with? Can or do they give you a discounted rate for the surgeries? A shelter I contribute to in Connecticut gets a discounted rate from a vet clinic in RI. (The shelter is in the NE corner of the state, not far from the border.)

I am really looking forward to the day Goodell answers for his forked tongued handling of the Ray Rice case. When is the arbiter’s decision due to be announced, anyway? It’s a simple enough story. What did the commissioner know, and when did he know it? What’s taking so long?

I’m not sure why they didn’t drop it 15 seconds after the Ferguson Grand Jury no bill.
@PurpleGirl: Aww, thanks so much!!
Yes, we have one local clinic that gives us a good rate, and all pet owners pay a small token rate ($20) as well, sort of a “pay it forward”. The president of the group and one board member have been working on negotiating reduced vet rates throughout the state, we’ve had some interest but no signers yet; but we’re a very new group, just got our non-profit status (I’ll email that to you, your gift is tax deductible), and we’ve been doing what we can with our limited funding. We have big plans though, this concept has worked great in other states.
