Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

Consistently wrong since 2002

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

When I was faster i was always behind.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Rep. Hank Johnson’s (D-GA) poem for Eric Garner

Black men and boys killed by police.
    I can’t breathe.
Impunity for the killers – no justice, no peace.
    I can’t breathe.
Militarized police met peaceful protesters on their knees.
    I can’t breathe.
Weapons of war – a show of force on our streets.
    I can’t breathe.
Disenfranchised youth driven to violence as speech.
    I can’t breathe.
Cynical media think this makes great TV.
    I can’t breathe.
This cowardly Congress afraid of losing our seats.
    I can’t breathe.
Half-hearted reform when there’s more that we need.
    I can’t breathe.
Just thinking about the despair that this breeds.
    I can’t breathe.
Black lives matter. Hear my pleas.
    I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe.

@efgoldman: I’m not Richard, but I think the “open season” for enrollments are for people who are eligible during the enrollment period. If your circumstances change, then the open enrollment period doesn’t apply.

    Special Enrollment Period:

    ObamaCare Special Enrollment Period

A special enrollment period is a time outside of open enrollment when you and your family can sign up for health insurance in the health insurance marketplace. You may qualify for a special enrollment period of 60 days following certain life events that involve a change in family status (for example, marriage or birth of a child) or loss of other health coverage.

    HTH.

    Cheers,
    Scott.

@efgoldman: Especially since it’s an open thread.

@efgoldman: Next spring as she is still covered by your employer sponsored coverage. When she loses that, she enters a “Special Enrollment Period” where she can buy a policy on an Exchange with subsidy if she qualifies for it.
