In case recent stories like that of the killing of 12-year-old Tamir Rice by Cleveland police don’t make it clear, this country doesn’t exactly view black children as America’s Treasure. In fact, of the 2,500 kids serving life without parole for crimes committed under the age of 18 in this country, 60 percent of them are black.
