Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The lights are all blinking red.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

I really should read my own blog.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

You can’t love your country only when you win.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

I desperately hope that, yet again, I am wrong.

So many bastards, so little time.

I wonder if trump will be tried as an adult.

Israel is using food as a weapon of war. Unforgivable.

Trump makes a mockery of the legal system and cowardly judges just sit back and let him.

This country desperately needs a functioning Fourth Estate.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

“Look, it’s not against the rules anywhere, but a black woman with power was dating and there has to be something wrong with that.”

Ah, the different things are different argument.

Keep It Classy, Tea Party

Just in case you were wondering why the tea party isn’t filled with black members, there are reminders like this. Radio host Andrea Shea King was so bothered about lawmakers who abstained from attending Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech to Congress she had this to say:

King noted that “most of those members who are opting out of attending the speech are members of the Congressional Black Caucus. She argued that the only reason those members of the Congressional Black Caucus had been elected in the first place was because the voters in their “districts are all dumb clucks.”… King said that she wasn’t sure if she was more angry at the “heinous people who occupy the halls of Congress or the dumb clucks that put them there.” “Stupid, stupid people! Our lives are on the line and all they can think of is skin color!” she insisted. “You know, all of us are going to turn black if we end up in a cage on fire!”

She also made a delightful comment that these black lawmakers should be “hanging by a noose.”

Team Blackness also discussed how Americans are turning away from organized religion, the Hillary Clinton email scandal, and why Fifty Shades of Grey can not be used as a defense to rape people (seriously?).

And just to underscore how classy the Tea Party is, and how much influence they wield, none of the top 3 of the House GOP are attending the Selma commemorations. Because reasons I guess.

What’s equally disturbing is that we should show more deference to a foreign head of state than to our own President.

My Facebook feed was full of “I stand with Israel” posts. I refrained from asking, “even when Israel stands against the US?”

@philpm: I’ll repeat what I told Tapper (mentioned in the thread in Down Below): Once they realized it wasn’t a reenactment…

I’m all for free speech and shit, but is it actually legal for a licensed broadcaster to use the publicly owned airwaves to call for the assassination by lynching of members of Congress?

Our lives are on the line? What the fuck is wrong with these people? Is everyone just a crying baby scared of shadows? Does she go around pissing herself all the time? This country used to be made up of Men and Women. Not mewling babies who need to leave the lights on.

King sounds like an angry white lady, with ridiculous assertions and simplistic answers to all things spied through the lens of race.
