Late Night Movie Open Thread: Team Lion by Anne Laurie| March 6, 20152:33 am| 51 CommentsThis post is in: Open Threads, Clown ShoesFacebookTweetEmail . And this is why the nice rangers tell you to lock the car doors, children…
Dank, gray, wet and chilly for the second day in a row.
These old bones are a-creakin’.
I always root for the critters in these situations. One day, this attitude will get my hand chewed off.
Just to follow up on NotMax’s non-sequitur, it was March 5 and 0 degrees in Chicagoland this morning. Record-nearing.
@John O: It’s about 73F here at 10:20pm in Ka’anapali, HI.
That lion’s face, looming up in the corner of the window just before she opens the door, that gave me goosebumps.
Under 55 degrees right now upcountry and temp still plummeting.
@NotMax: Are you in Washington state? I can’t remember.
the high at my house just outside Seattle will be 58F tomorrow. That’s pretty nice for March.
@NotMax: Opiejeanne run!
As you mentioned Kaanapali. presume you’re visiting or vacationing. I’m up on the slopes of Haleakala.
Heh. Opiejeanne is perfectly safe. Haven’t been over to the west side in like 15 years. :)
67 and partly cloudy under the full moon here in Miami.
@NotMax: That beats me, haven’t been there in almost 25 years.
@Mustang Bobby: 47.5 here in LALAland, though it should get up into the low 80’s tomorrow and throughout the weekend. So it’s too cold at night to kill the pilot light on the furnace.
Moon Over Miami
I’m going though some old pictures; 3 years in Seattle and I think I have a total of 3 pictures with Mt. Rainier in them.
ETA: Regrets not taking my OM-1 to Seattle.
I’d put outside temps in low 50’s, maybe high 40’s in Athens. Cold drizzly rain is back. It was like Spring! Wed afternoon. Downhill since.
It’s 12 F in NYC right now (0611). Too cold.
I can hear the maintenance staff clearing sidewalks in the development. They had cleaned snow yesterday but with snow falling into the night, they stopped cleaning at some point to leave it for this morning.
@qwerty42: Nice for our walk to Big City!
All white MJ panel discussing Att. General report on Ferguson is so…enwhitening.
Hey y’all, watch this. Wait, hold my beer.
If only. I’m out in Jackson.
Happy Holi days everyone.

The lion must have thought there were some tasty looking morsels in the car.
@mai naem mobile:
She saw the car as a giant Russell Stovers box, and wanted to taste the fillings on the morsels nestled within…
And once again, animals smarter than the humans…
@mdblanche: funny, she doesn’t look raptorish.
“I’ll take this one.”
Animals have so much more intelligence than most people realize. I read “The Tiger” a few years ago and the stories of the people who met up with them was terrifying.
for FKA Bella Q, in event you check in:
@a hip hop artist from Idaho (fka Bella Q): I think this is the NYTimes article. You can find it among the most emailed list for 30 days.
How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco’s Life
Impressed with that family. Not a single f-bomb, and not shrill when hysterical either.
Impressed with the lioness. She can wait. Some other human will leave a door unlocked. Although, it will be her life that pays.
@debbie: Talk about being outmatched, should you encounter a tiger. Sharks of the land, and even more beautiful.
I would feel like walking meat. Dinner on the hoof.
Met a cat once who had a thumb– she would tug at the edge of your garment. Cute, but… I asked the owner to make sure she was spayed.
They reinforced the lesson of Dexter and Gizmo escaping the kitchen, cats can manipulate handles.
Gin & Tonic
Here’s a truly wonderful editorial about Chris Christie’s now-ex flack. This is a level of invective rarely seen in the mainstream press any more, and I think we are the poorer for it.
@Phylllis: Darwin Award winner’s acceptance speech.
Love those easy open cans.
Paul in KY
Got 16 inches of snow in Central KY and it is 10 degrees right now. Come on Spring…
“Watch this, girls. They’re just like oysters! Reeeal easy to catch and filled with sweet delicious juicy goodness, but they’re bitch to get into unless you know what you’re doing . . .”
And the lion looks as if she knows exactly what to do and how to do it. Can I swap her for my GOP congresscritter?
That is not at all alarming in the least. :(
@JaneE: If you promise to put her in a seaoled room with the rest of the GOP caucus…nah. I can’t bring myself to be that cruel to a lion.
Meals on Wheels.
@BillinGlendaleCA: apparently she did, lol. the call is coming . . . from inside the house!
@Paul in KY: I’m coming to Kentucky in three weeks for the Flying Pig orienteering event. It’s at Morehead State and Carter Caves. The organizers are saying that the long range forecast shows a warming period, but I’m wondering if I should pack snowshoes.
I once saw a wildlife show on the teevee where a cheetah decided to have some fun with the human tourists. She got on top of their truck, swung her butt over the sun roof, and took a dump on them.
Sigh, its been a beautiful week in north Florida in the 80’s where it belongs but new cold front coming in and its colder now than this morning…in the 50’s and going down. I wanted to garden this weekend. Pollen is already bad. dogwoods should be pretty this weekend.
Here in Oregon, frosty in the morning and sunny and 60s in the afternoon. We should be seeing gray, dreary skies and lots of rain. The woods will be a tinderbox this summer if this keeps up. They say every few hundred years we get a massive fire that scours the mountains clean of any vegetation. I’m getting worried.

@Origuy: The land around there is beautiful. You should have a great time. Hopefully most of the snow will have melted by then. Best of luck!
@NotMax: Oh, that explains so much. Someone yesterday told us that he went up to the top of Haleakala on Wednesday night to look at the moon and it snowed on him.
The Moar You Know
Almost every cat I’ve ever had and more than half the dogs figured out how to open the house doors within a few weeks.
The lions have obviously figured out that your car is a big can of cat food.
