The GOP’s favorite black person, Ben Carson, continues to say things and then backpedal. This time, it’s about blaming the hip-hop community for contributing to African Americans’ lack of spirituality:
“When I talk about the hip-hop community, I’m talking about the aspect of modern society that pretty much dismisses anything that has to do with Jesus Christ,” Carson told WBLS-FM hosts Bob Slade & Bob Pickett on Sunday. “That’s what I’m talking about. … We need to reestablish faith in our communities and the values and principles that got us through slavery, that got us through Jim Crow, and segregation, and all kinds of horrible things that were heaped upon us,” he argued. “Why were we able to get through those? Because of our faith, because of our family, because of our values, and as we allow the hip-hop community to destroy those things for us, and as we grasp onto what’s politically correct and not what is correct, we continue to deteriorate.”
That’s right, Carson. Blame the devil’s music!
Team Blackness discussed Jeb Bush identifying as “hispanic,” Rand Paul’s fantastic new line of presidential memorabilia, and Kylie Jenner’s blackface.

Ben Carson also apparently causes folks to repeat themselves. Redundantly.

Ben Carson decided that the assistance he received was okay because his family was deserving but now families just aren’t. When he made that statement, all I could think of is that he thinks he is capable of lining people up and deciding who is and who isn’t deserving. It’s time for him to get on his high horse and ride away.

White pop culture isn’t known for being explicitly spiritual. Why does he think secular black entertainment is bad and secular white entertainment is apparently OK?

Seriously, fix the double post thing.

Anyone know, before this, if WBLS-FM was a station inside Carson’s media bubble? Not familiar with it and its homepage talks of R and B, and Cissy Houston.
Will he go on the air there again?

I had absolutely no idea that I was part of the hip-hop community.
