D'Souza is the saddest, worst criminal alive, it's so entertaining

From the NYPost article:
… D’Souza’s parole officer had included with the “summer vacation” request a recent Vanity Fair article about D’Souza — but the judge was unimpressed.
“With respect to the Vanity Fair article, the court has no immediate reaction other than the article suggests several fertile areas of discussion during Mr. D’Souza’s required therapeutic counseling,” wrote Berman…
Imagine a “celebrity boxing match” between Dinesh D’Souza and James O’Keefe III.
That would get me to sign up for cable, just to make sure I could access the pay-per-view…

Didn’t D’Souza’s lawyer advise him not to try that shit? Shirley, any counsel worth their salt would have told him that no judge, ever, grants a vacation break from a sentence.

I like the idea of a baseball bat fight between D’Souza, O’Keefe and Chuck Johnson. It would be a better Pay Per View than Pacqaio-Mayweather.

I liked the judge suggesting areas D’Souza should discuss with his court-mandated therapist. Sadly, no therapy has ever been shown to work on adult sociopaths.
Tomorrow morning, we leave for Disney World right after my brother’s radiation treatment. We have pretty much the perfect ratio of adults to pre-teens — 2 adults for each pre-teen. Hopefully all will go well and we’ll be able to get an electric wheelchair for the day. Otherwise, we’re going to be taking turns pushing my brother around the Magic Kingdom.
Bad news is, I have to share a hotel room with my mother for the next two nights. If you hear about a tragic death by exploding head at one of the WDW resorts in the next two days, that’ll be me.

Had I been in Judge Berman’s place, I would have doubled D’Souza’s community service time for being so stupidly annoyed and pestered by that idiot and his attorney. I’d make a terrible, ruthlessly vindictive judge.. if I’d been born and raised a republican, I could have had it made.

@Corner Stone: Alaska is amazing; planning the trip, crucial.
I went last year, and we decided to go in June. We wanted decent weather and no mosquitoes, and June seemed the best time for that. Also, we got to be there for the solstice, which is beyond cool.
However, we found out that June weather is completely unreliable; as in, “rainy and cold most of the time.” We took the train through Denali and saw hardly any wildlife at all, because all the animals were hiding somewhere dry.
But we didn’t see a single skeeter.
So think about what matters more: having reliably sunny, warm weather or having to fight off the mosquitoes.
Also – if you’re going to Juneau, you *must* take the excursion to Mendenhall Glacier. Take the longer excursions if you can; I was only there a couple of hours, and could happily have spent twice as much time exploring.

@Corner Stone: I’m interested in answers too, we’re going on a cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage and visiting older daughter who’s going to be working for the Public Defender’s office for the summer.

Spent the evening moving stuff around in my house, because tomorrow the laminate flooring is really, truly, finally being installed! I think when I see those first planks click together I might cry.

Can’t remember if I ever told this story here, but when WDW first opened in the early ’70s, I was a student at USF in Tampa, and some of my classmates had jobs there. In summer of, I think, ’72, my hub and mother and I went visiting, and all the Disney characters waved and bounced, the way they do, and then Goofy came up to me, gave me a huge hug, and murmured “Hi, Siubhan”** very quietly.
I never did find out which of my fellow students it was, and probably never will. And from what I have since learned, he/she could have been seriously disciplined for acknowledging a personal friend, so probably just as well.
** My actual RL name, of course, not “Siubhan.”

I’ve been off work the better part of the last month because I keep trying to hurt myself when I think about going into the office. Possibly due to the backlash against disability for mental health reasons, Kaiser keeps pushing me to go back ASAP. Talked to my therapist today and I guess will try again next week; hopefully this time I’ll be able to avoid the ER.

@Corner Stone: I hope you have your reservations in Denali National Park made already. Hotels get booked up early by cruise lines who run trains up there.
Don’t be a snob about what is available. We had to stay at a place called the “Salmon Bake”. Our room had extension cords running all over the floors. We had the penthouse suite though— we had our own bathroom. Other people had hard-sided cabins and had to use a communal bathroom.
Also don’t be disappointed if you don’t see Denali. She is often shrouded in clouds. A plane tour around Denali and her surrounding mountains is worth the price. You can book it out of Talkeetna. I think we flew in a 6 or 8 passenger Caribou. I may me mis-remembering the plane type though. You can’t take your car into the park, but buses are available and worth the ride.
A tour of the glaciers booked out of Seward is also nice.
Otter Cove, a short ferry ride from Homer has a lovely restaurant. You can go just for dinner or spend the night in a minimalist cabin—bring your own sleeping bag, etc.
Also 75º is considered a heat wave so pack accordingly.

I thought when you entered a plea of guilty in open court you had to fully admit to your crime and that the judge does not allow any suggestion that your are being forced or coerced, and yet D’Souza is constantly saying the only reason he was charged is because he thinks he is Obama’s #1 enemy. I was hoping the judge would add some time on to his sentence for his BS martyrdom.

Bibi has assembled his coalition and just under the deadline. Besides Likud it looks like Israel’s next government will include a couple of religious parties who’ll be looking to restore their constituents’ exemption from military service, a Judas goat who ran on change and has now turned around and helped Netanyahu cling to power, and a party for people who think Netanyahu is too soft. That last one drove a hard bargain, but Bibi has agreed to their demand he appoint a justice minister who wants to neuter the country’s Supreme Court. The party led by the guy who takes Putin as his role model turned Bibi down so this new government only has 61 seats out of 120 and the infighting and backstabbing have already begun.

D’Souza should have been drafted into The Salvation Army for the entire term of his sentence. Hey guys: I’ll post this a couple of times between now and the deadline just so everybody remotely interested gets to see it.
Well, BJ family:
It’s apparent that my Kickstarter effort is going down in flames. It’s over on May 9th and currently I’m $14,378 short of my $15,000 goal. (Or, put another way, I’d need another 575 pledges of $25 in three days. Not very likely…)
I want to thank the Juicers who put their money where their mouths are and assure you all that no cards will be charged because I missed the goal.
On the upside, I still believe that producing a CD to celebrate my 50 years as a musician is a worthwhile goal and I’m going to try it again.
I’m going to go at it considerably more modestly (about half my original goal) and I’m going to try to self promote it prior to putting it back online. Cutting the goal means I’m going to have to lean on some industry folks to give me lowball pricing to still get the same quality product but I’m going to use the 50 years of contacts to apply that pressure so keep your fingers crossed.
A question for you all: My wife suggested that I ought to do it on GoFundMe rather than Kickstarter because with GoFundMe all proceeds are funded unlike the Kickstarter all or nothing model and I could at least get started even if it required a couple of times out to finish it. Maybe I could refuse to sell CDs to gays. That seems to be a winning strategy on GoFundMe. Any opinions?
Once again, I really DO appreciate the support I got from this community. And the notes I got from some of you that you’ll be in again if I have to do it again. It’s obvious that I’ll have to do it again. I just don’t know enough people with discretionary money.
The downside of being a working jazz musician for a half century is that literally most of the people you know are either equally broke jazz musicians or no longer on this earth.
(I had a friend who died 10 years ago after a lengthy career with Nina Simone, Miles Davis & Weather Report and his mother still had to solicit funds to bury him. What a tribute to our lifestyle!)
Anyway, thank you all and WATCH THIS SPACE for the new push!! It will probably be in about a month while I try to figure out how to do it right.
In the meantime I’ll give you occasional videos in hopes of winning some new converts.

I know he was expecting deference because of his fabulosity, but sometimes the justice system doesn’t bow down and lick the shoes of the advantaged. I know that might come as an unwelcome surprise but like I am sure he would say to the urban African American man caught doing something illegal – “don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time”
Glad the judge called him on his BS – not enough people in his life have done so. Hence the shit he got himself in.
