Juve!
Valdivia
Thank you so much for this thread. I am going to have to multitask between game watching and class preparations but no way I can miss the Messi show.
The South American Trident as they are calling it is kind of an amazing collaborative between three big players, kind of amazing it works so well. And me not a fan of Suarez and all saying this.
Valdivia
Wow, it begins. And that wasn’t even Messi.
? Martin
Geez. Didn’t stand a chance.
raven
I guess this answers my question asking if this was a big game!
? Martin
I think Juve wins the Douchebag Hairstyle Cup pretty cleanly.
Valdivia
@? Martin: yes, that Vidal haircut is ugh.
Morata is one to watch on Juve, he’s very good.
Valdivia
Glad to see Juve waking up a bit. But Vidal is playing so aggressively, I am afraid he might get a red card soon.
SRW1
Barca in control during the first half, but they better get a second. Juve is well capable of conjuring something out of not much.
SRW1
And here we go.
? Martin
And Morata it is…
Valdivia
Told you guys Morata would be the guy/ hope that didn’t sound too annoying. :)
ETA: Now it’s a game. Which is nice.
bjacques
Well done Morata putting Juventus back in the game. It’s Shark Fin City out there.
Valdivia
Barca better wake up a bit.
And there it is!
bjacques
Does yanking an opposing player to the ground count?
ARGH!!!! Porko Dio!
SRW1
@Valdivia:
They did.
? Martin
Juve’s problem is that Messi is still in the game.
Valdivia
@? Martin: Absolutely.
Oh boy now a gol that is not a gol. Hand.
@SRW1: that’s quite a way to wake up.
JCJ
Suarez! He really sank his teeth in to that rebound!
bjacques
Ohhohohohoo!
Valdivia
@JCJ: lol.
bjacques
Hey Suarez, try not to bite anybody on the way to the bench!
Valdivia
and that’s how you close the game
Visca Barca

There’s the exclamation point.

@Valdivia:
Did the ref ever blow a final whistle, or did the games just end by general consent?
Valdivia
@SRW1: I didn’t hear a whistle but even the Juve players were signaling time so I think it was general consent.
Cacti
I predicted a 3-1 final for Barca, but Juventus kept it tighter than I though they were going to.
As much as it pains me to say this about an Argie, Lionel Messi has clearly had the best club career of any star player in the modern era.
Valdivia
@Cacti: As much as it pains me too, I can’t disagree. He really is extraordinary and unlike Maradona who can be a bit of an a-hole, Messi seems totally with the head in the game and down to earth (I know, personal opinions on Maradona are very contentious)
Maybe someone more in the know can tell me: Why did Real Madrid let Morata go? He is clearly very good and makes things happen in the most needed moments. I also never understood why RM did so little with Khedira.

Randinho: Champions League Final Open Thread Barcelona v Juventus
This is the Massively Online Battle Area (MOBA) tournament, right?

@Valdivia:
And if Benitez goes ahead with the supposed plan to run a 4-2-3-1, Khedira will bolt, because he will get zero starts unless CR7 is injured.
He’d look good running alongside Olivier Giroud. He’d look even better running alongside Daniel Sturridge. He’d look best of all running alongside Romelu Lukaku, but that’s not happening.
Valdivia
@burnspbesq: I saw some criticism that Ancelotti had very little say in who they brought in last year so he ended up with some great players that did not fulfill the needs of the team, or his vision for the team. I think if Benitez gets a say maybe whatever changes happen will be in accordance to what he has in mind and not just the caprice of Florentino Perez. Again, this is just speculation based on snippets I have read.
Khedira is a great player it would be nice to see him picked up by one of those clubs.
SRW1
@burnspbesq:
. @Valdivia:
Khedira is out of a contract. He will leave RM, apparently for Juve!
Valdivia (The Terrible)
@SRW1: He might fit in nicely there. Thanks for the info.

Deleted. Wrong thread.
