Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Somebody needs to explain to DeSantis that nobody needs to do anything to make him look bad.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

So many bastards, so little time.

Republicans can’t even be trusted with their own money.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Republicans would impeach Biden if he bit into a whole Kit Kat rather than breaking the sections apart.

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

“Look, it’s not against the rules anywhere, but a black woman with power was dating and there has to be something wrong with that.”

Not all heroes wear capes.

Bark louder, little dog.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

I wasn’t New Zealand to win, but am afraid Netherland will.

OT a bit, but, um, hey, did anyone notice that we have a new Triple Crown winner? First time in 37 years!

I mean, Wow! (And I’m not even a racing fan.)

Looking forward to the recipes if you continue that. They were fantastic. (New Zealanders taught me to eat fresh tomatoes on toast; habit still going strong.)

Well, looks like the NYT is emanating giant squid clouds of butt-hurt b/c Hillary’s flipping the script from ’08:http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/06/07/us/politics/hillary-clinton-traces-friendly-path-troubling-party.html?_r=1&referrer=

    @Ben Cisco (onboard the Defiant):

Hillary Rodham Clinton appears to be dispensing with the nationwide electoral strategy that won her husband two terms in the White House and brought white working-class voters and great stretches of what is now red-state America back to Democrats.

Instead, she is poised to retrace Barack Obama’s far narrower path to the presidency

    1992: 370/168 44,908,254/39,102,343
    2008 365/173 69,297,997/59,597,520

Clinton won five more electoral votes than Obama, and the Times wants to talk about Obama’s “far narrower path?”

Also, too. For anyone interested Netherlands won 1-0 (though I didn’t watch it, just reporting the result)

@Omnes Omnibus: I was going to say that buying them is no good because they have to be rusty. I am sure some smart person could come up with a way of selling the rustiest ones, for political purposes.

@Omnes Omnibus: True true. But I wasn’t thinking of the monetization angle, more about making sure we had enough. For the movement.

judging from the last three or four “football” threads, it seems that very few people really give a shit about soccer. We have some comments about rugby, horse racing and Hillary. Soccer, not so much.

but it looks good on you, though.

(sorry, can’t resist taking a jab at soccer and its fans….I have issues…what can I say? I’m sure the fans are having a very rewarding time watching these Women’s World Cup games….oops….matches. Lot’s of excitement on the field…..oops…..pitch.)

@magurakurin: As one of the people who made rugby comments, I can say that I will start taking an interest in the Women’s World Cup once it enters the elimination phase. I think a lot of people are that way.

@Omnes Omnibus: fair point, but it still doesn’t resolve my issues. Soccer, the Olympics and Apple…haters gotta hate…guilty as charged.
