If history is any guide, the Nigerians will run the Swedes off the park for 60 minutes, fail to convert any of their opportunities, and eventually do something really stupid that costs them the match.

I’ve worked in Sweden but never in Nigeria, so I’ll cheer for Sweden. I have nothing against Nigeria though, so if they win I’ll still be happy.
I’m just thrilled that it’s on broadcast TV for maximum audience reach.
Randinho
@burnspbesq: Nailed it.
@Mike J: Regarding your last sentence: word.

Just to even things (despite not having a TV) I’ll theoretically cheer Nigeria as I know rather a lot of them and have excellent practice at cheering innovative probable loss, coming from Cubs stock. Will hope this even technically mild behavior never comes to the ears of the Swedish relatives (luckily, they’re technically Bohemian/Moravian).

I wish Nigeria’s keeper was wearing a bright color. On the long shots her black kit and the dark green of the rest of the team look too similar.

Sweden seem to be running a clinic in fouling juuuuuuuuust outsiiiide the box.
Randinho
@Mike J: Agreed. The ref should have had her wear a lighter earth tone like an orange.
Sweden scores again even though Nigeria is playing better. What a shame. In a country where girls and women are being kidnapped and enslaved it would be nice to see some women coming home as heroes.
ThresherK
@Randinho: Well, heroics are afoot (haha).
This end-to-end action is pretty hot stuff.

Ha! (Ha? the BBC live blog is essentially nothing, score only, so I got distracted by Wiggins on bicycle). What happened here?

I have a beef with ESPN. Their WWC coverage has been tossed into their women’s ghetto, espnW, instead of being in ESPN FC.
Fellas, it’s 2015. The WWC is much more important to the world at large than the 268th reiteration of the latest Premier League transfer speculation, which will go through another 268 iterations before any deals are finalized.

Nigeria fights back.

Manitoba is going to need agricultural subsidies after a barn burner like this.
Randinho
@burnspbesq: Amen.
Mike J
Wow!

No TV–Guardian has a live blog?

So much for my prediction. Nice fight-back by Nigeria. Sweden will feel like they let two points get away.
SRW1
I suspect Pia Sundhage will be very disappointed to see her team let that game get away.

@burnspbesq: Never count us out :).
