Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

No one could have predicted…

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

I’m just a talker, trying to find a channel!

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

Second rate reporter says what?

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

“But what about the lurkers?”

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

It’s a doggy dog world.

Come on, man.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

So many bastards, so little time.

“Cheese and Kraken paired together for the appetizer trial.”

Dead end MAGA boomers crying about Talyor Swift being a Dem is my kind of music. Turn it up.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

…and a burning sense of injustice to juice the soul.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

Cool. As a dude without cable TV I am SO HAPPY the USA game is on network TV. Go USA!!!!!

With that said I am nothing close to a huge soccer fan. But I find the ladies game, the same why I find international women’s hockey, to be more technical than the men so I enjoy watching it a lot more.

My gosh these ladies are flat-out amazing. I’ve played more than a little soccer in my life. And ball control, even until high school we played a lot of four square, I got ball control down.

Heck I was at my 6-year-old niece’s soccer game a few months ago and my parents and her parents were stunned at what I could do with a ball when I was playing around with them. I was like muscle memory folks.

But what they can/are doing with that little round ball is amazing!

    Tommy

    June 12, 2015 at 8:50 pm

There is the stereotype that Swedes are blond. Not sure if that is true but my gosh there are a lot of blonds on the Swedish team. Via my very non-official count, and they did show the bench a few times, there are only four non-blondes on the entire team. That is a lot of blond going on :).

  34. 34.

    raven

    June 12, 2015 at 8:55 pm

    @Tommy: It’s not a stereotype, it’s a fact jack!

Blond hair is most common in Scandinavia and Baltic Sea countries, where true blondism is believed to have originated. The pigmentation of both hair and eyes is lightest around the Baltic Sea, and darkness increases regularly and almost concentrically around this region[34] with countries such as England, Scotland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, etc. generally having larger proportions of blond people than countries further south in Europe.

    And this tidbit

In colloquial Quebec French, “ma blonde” means “my girlfriend”, regardless of the color of the specific woman’s hair. Such is for example the reference in the name of the still-current 17th century chanson “Auprès de ma blonde”.

Polar bear watching in Churchill is defintiely on my bucket list. Gonna do that at some point in the next few years while my mom is still capable of handling it – and visiting relatives in Winnipeg will get us halfway to Churchill.

EDIT – A cousin was complaining about all the American tourists in town. I don’t think he minds the Swedes near as much ;)

    @Tommy:
