which cameron? i mean, it’s gotta be easy to kick, say, kirk cameron’s ass.

Not World Cup related but wanted to ask: did you see the Colombia Venezuela game on Sunday? I was very surprised how out of sorts the Colombian team looked. And Brazil played well but was close with Peru. Wonder how that Colombia Brazil game tomorrow will work.

@chopper: Prime Minister Cameron, right?

Ecuador has a -15 GD?
I know it’s the first go-around with the added teams, but: Is that a record? And if so, how long will it stand?

What a Cameroon!

@ThresherK:
No idea if it is a record, but if it is, it’s unlikely to survive the end of this round.
ThresherK
@SRW1: I was out hiking and just tuned in. Holding Japan to 0-1 would be a triumph for ECU.

Cameroon is on the verge of qualifying. Cool.
Randinho
@ThresherK: If they don’t score they’ll leave the record at -16 as I write this.
Randinho
@Valdivia: Falcao may be Colombia’s biggest disappointment. He was also Manchester United’s worst transfer in recent memory.
SRW1
@Randinho:
And yet, the way it looks is that the next destination for Falcao is a loan stint at Chelsea.
SRW1
@ThresherK:
Yes, it would be.

My youngest has a close friend in Japan who stayed with us last summer. They took opposite sides in this Japan/Ecuador game and have been doing some major trash talking via Skype this afternoon. Lots of swearing and gloating over the intertubes just now.
Randinho
@SRW1: As an Arsenal fan, I’m thrilled.

It’s funny, when you posted the initial rankings, the only one I thought you undersold was Cameroon. Just had a feeling, I know nothing about the teams’ relative strength. Clearly I should’ve placed a bet…

Yes, I switched matches just in time to watch Cameroon’s equalizer, and stayed to the end. Wow, that Onguene is quick and fast. Other Cameroonian players have nifty spin moves as well. They did a great job capitalizing on their quickness.
Randinho
@Jake Nelson: The problem was that Japan was the only one I had seen before. I ranked Switzerland slightly ahead because of their record in qualification.
