That setup about how he loves his brother even though they disagree was great. I’ve missed Colbert, I’m so glad he’s back.

I didn’t like the Sabra skit, though.

Good show. He seemed to be having fun and there weren’t any obvious snafus. He seemed very comfortable already (contra the earliest Colbert Report shows I saw where he seemed nervous/uncomfortable).

It’s good they were explicit in the final credits that Sabra paid for the in-show ad.

I hope the ~10 minutes straight of commercials around 12:20 AM isn’t a normal feature of the show. :-/

I wonder if he’s going to continue to be the announcer going forward. It seemed a little strange…

I liked his “My brother and I are very different politically. How are you different from W policy-wise?” question. Of course, JEB? had to pander to his base, saying W spent too much. :-/

It was well worth watching. I’ll have to DVR it in the future, though.

    Cheers,
    Scott.

Jeb was a more interesting guest than Clooney. Jimmy Fallon is so silly that I was expecting Colbert to dumb himself down to match Fallon. I just hope Colbert can hold his own in the ratings against Fallon.

Loved Colbert’s band which is a huge step up from Paul Schafer. Also, liked his ripping apart Trump’s stupid building a 1900 mile fence is easy argument.

That’ll hurt his overall ratings and his ‘reach’ significantly.

As a cord cutter I only watched Colbert & Stewart because of their ‘free’ streams via ComedyCentral & Hulu.

Ok, I’m late to this, but Jeeee-sus. I just had this discussion with my spouse about Hillary’s clothes. Are you serious about a skirt & blouse? She’d look quite schoolmarmy. Or like Mrs. Doubtfire. Maybe she could wear little coats like Queen Elizabeth.

She dresses like a professional woman her age dresses. Her white outfit for the Andrea Mitchell interview was beautiful & very flattering. If you’re serious about the “skirt & blouse” idea, link a pic. I can’t wrap my mind around one that would stand up to campaigning without either aging her or looking like a dishrag halfway through the day.

Hillary dresses just fine. Give me a break. She’s not some celebrity whose lifetime job was to stay good looking. She aint going to be pulling off a skirt set or dress. She also can’t afford to have a wardrobe malfunction and thats a whole less likely in a pant suit. And in Hillary’s case — apart, as I said in the earlier thread, that pantsuits are part of her brand — we’re saved from a lot of pixels killed to make “jokes” about Hillary’s unsightly calves, fat ankles, etc.

My wife complains when Hillarys appearance and clothing choices are discussed and she’s right – when are male political candidate’s clothing choices ever brought up? Of course, they all wear navy blue or black suits, a white shirt and blue or red tie. So, they all look like parochial school uniforms.

All that being said, Hillary looked lovely in an all-white pantsuit recently, but just dreadful in an orange one. It shouldn’t matter, but since women have more clothing choices, she needs to be cognizant of which ones are flattering and which ones are not.

I know he’s dropped his sarcastic conservative persona, but it seems to be the same vanilla-ization that Dave went through when he started at CBS. Stephen will probably be as bland and have as much mass appeal as what Dave had. (Maybe it’s just hard to keep your teeth sharp through a full hour instead of just a half-hour.)
