Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

I was promised a recession.

The revolution will be supervised.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

People are complicated. Love is not.

In my day, never was longer.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Usually wrong but never in doubt

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Let’s go Mets! And please, let’s keep it to nine innings tonight, guys. Some of us have to work for a living.

A World Series thread and a debate thread?

Now I wish I had PiP for iPad.

deGrom needs to pitch well and into the 7th or 8th. The relievers on both teams are spent after last night.

It seems that everyone is a Mets fan here, but surely there are a few of us rooting for the Royals.

Looking forward to a hairy game tonight.

    Let’s go Royals!

@Wylie: I’m a neighbor of Wrigley Field. A Cardinals fan by trade. And rooting for the Royals this series. I may not be the pure blood you’re looking for but I stand with you for now.

@Wylie: Oh, we Royals fans are here, don’t you worry.

When I was a teenager, we used to fill a car with 4 or 5 kids, drive out to Royals Stadium, sit in the right field bleachers (right next to the home team bullpen), and have the time of our young lives. It was the cheapest entertainment in town ($1.50 for bleacher seats, $1.50 to park, 75¢ cokes and $1.50 frosty malts). We had an hour to get home after the game ended; my dad was listening to it on AM and knew when it went to 14 innings. And it all-too-often did, even back in the 70s.

I gave up last night at the 8th inning. I have to get up and get WarriorGirl to school — so we’ll see how long past 10:30 tonight I last.

I agree with the announcers (for once), the Ump’s strike zone has been pretty inconsistent and it’s confusing the pitchers and hitters.

Hey, it’s great to see a couple of other Royals fans.

I’ve always loved the “K” – such a beautiful park. I can’t begin to count the number of games I’ve attended. I think I’ve been in just about every section except right behind home plate.

One of my cherished childhood memories is sitting behind home dugout with my dad and grandpa, watching “Big John” Mayberry on 1st playing up to the crowd. He’s still one of my all-time favorite players.

So, I go waaaay back as a Royals fan.

In not too distant years, people laughed at me when I said that the Royals were my team. (I wasn’t in KC) They’re not laughing now…

    Come on, Royals!

Currently? You don’t think Fenway has been filled with drunken louts nigh on 100 years?

It’s far, far, far better now than it used to be in the Olden Tymes. For example, they’ve completely abandoned the practice of coating vomit in sawdust – now they mop it up.
