Blue skies, smiling at me.
Nothing but blue skies, do I see.

JHC, I’m not even at the bar yet. I love the West Coast, but living out here just sucks for making it to kickoff for national games.

Since Corner Stone has me pied, amusingly, can someone ask him the following for me:
1. How many people does he have pied?
2. What is his criteria for pieing people?
Thanks!

Defensive stop! Good start! Last week the Pats gave up so many 3rd and longs to the Jets.

Hate the Pats. Maybe Campell’s “Rudolph” nose will help Miami beat them.
What?! Am I the only one that noticed?

Gophers are up 3-0 on the Fighting Whioux after one period. The bar I’m at can’t access the channel the game is on, so I forked over $10 to UND to watch.

Miami might want to try holding the Pats to something under 10 yards per play.

Does anyone on the West coast watch these ridiculous London games?

Interesting – the first woman ref in the NFL is in this game.

But seriously, 6:30 AM kickoff? And you’ve got to get your fantasy lineup ready for that? Damn!

Miami is a tad frazzled.

Surely cuz the Pats are cheating, somehow.

Prepare for total domination by Patriots O and D tonight. Unbeatable.

@Some guy: Well, that was a lame 3 and out.

When did car companies stop putting spare tires of some sort in cars?
I was perusing through car options on-line and a large number of the newer fangled cars no longer come with a spare tire. I’m not talking about a full sized spare, just the donut.
I remember when the donut tire was a sign of society going to hell in a handbasket because you no longer had full sized spare tires, though VW used to have full sized spares in their cars longer than any auto company I’ve seen.
Tire patching goo and an electric air pump don’t work on a side wall blow out and if you have a side wall blow out in a less than heavily populated area you would just be SOL.

@Mike J: He said “ridiculous London games”, so…Millwall or perhaps Leyton Orient?

The Patriots are to the NFL what Walmart is to capitalism. You might not like the outcome. You might think the result is hinky as hell. But you have to have to give them credit for thriving within the system.

I’m having one of those super-depressing days where NOTHING at work went right, and I basically ended up 5 steps behind where I was yesterday, which was 5 steps behind the day before that.
I already know I’m a workaholic, if that fails me I’ve got pretty much nothing.
Also, from the ringing in my ears and facial twitch going on day 5, I’m well into the disturbing-physical-symptoms phase of totally unmanaged stress levels.
This is all self-induced and I just feel like downing a bottle of tequila and calling it a night. Or a week. Whatever.

I don’t understand why anyone would pie anyone, so I’m curious as to your reasons.

Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg has a new book, America Ascendant, based on several years of public policy polling. A very cursory overview is in Huffpo
An interesting and, I imagine, poll supported bit of advice for the Dems in 2016 my not be liked by some:
In an interview at the link, he fleshes out his ideas a bit more.

@JPL:
How much does the weight of a spare tire donut actually weigh? It can’t be enough to boost mileage much at all. I mean chuck in the extra sheet metal weight for having to accommodate the donut and you have maybe a hundred pounds on a three thousand pound vehicle.
I agree it is bull.

@Mike J: Having lived my whole life in CT I’ve seen any number of maps where the sports rivalries between Boston and NYC draw the lines. Of course the Red Sox/Yankees history is 112 years old, so it gets most of the ink.
West Ham United myself.
This London fan map is amazing for the allegiances to the teams that aren’t in the Premier League, or at least aren’t every year. I’m fascinated at the differences between how Britons and Americans organize their sport. I can only think of two Scottish teams and one English team (ex-Wimbledon, now MK Dons) who have moved.

@seaboogie: The “pier” will usually trumpet your new status as a passive-aggressive coup de gras. It seems to be important to type about it as a taunting “Nah Nah, I got you last”
Really fun stuff to see play out.

@efgoldman: I missed the banning. I was pretty sure he was a spoof.
redshirt
@Goblue72:
Damn! My thesis! Are you sure you’ve checked out the whole place?

@Betty Cracker:
Pats got lucky.
If Bledsoe had not had a season ending injury in 2001 (? can’t remember exact year) Brady would probably still be on someone’s bench, and the Pats would be like any other run of the mill team.
Belechek would’ve been fired long ago and spending his time being bitter that he never could make it as a head coach.
Pats fans need to thank, whoever it was that knocked Bledsoe out that season.
seaboogie
@efgoldman: Don’t always follow so closely…but pretty sure it was more about him invoking…ehrm….adult relations with those who have just taken their first steps – the comparison to which I forget – because the line of decency had been crossed so fully and repeatedly.

@gene108: September 2001, hit by Jets linebacker Mo Lewis.
Who said the Jets are entirely good for nothing?
Betty Cracker
@redshirt: Were you seriously worried about a .500 team with an interim coach? The Pats have a pretty easy schedule. You can probably relax until the prospect of choking in another Super Bowl looms.
Gin & Tonic

Dang the Pats anyway. Not a Dolphins fan at all, but was hoping they’d sack the crap out of Brady, or maybe even roll out the new 2nd Amendment Solution play (take out the Derringer and shoot the QB in the shins). Or maybe in the little red pompom on the top of Brady’s stupid hat. Dang. Taking my Pats-induced sour stomach and going to bed. Grump.
FlyingToaster
@Omnes Omnibus: Naw, it’s the UNLIMITED CORPORATE CASH fool from 2012.
He almost never replies to me — no more than I deserve for trying to calmly refute his bs.
Eric U.
@redshirt: I have pied people because they were really annoying. Occasionally someone will come on here and attack someone for something that they really didn’t say, and that is tiresome. The version of the pie filter that gets rid of responses is pretty nice.
Omnes Omnibus
@FlyingToaster:
Exactly.
redshirt
@Betty Cracker:
Not seriously, but slightly, when the score remained 9-0 for far too long. 9 points can easily be surmounted.
19 is much tougher, and I am not as worried now. The Pats defense has been fantastic so far.
redshirt
@Betty Cracker:
What’s wrong with Deion?
Corner Stone
@efgoldman:
First time ever? Why so reticent? Cole and I email back and forth pretty much every week. He’s always looking for different perspectives on things from places outside West By God Virginia.

@Gin & Tonic:
Corner Stone has a rep as a bully on this site, does he not?
redshirt
@Corner Stone:
Look how important and influential he is! LOL.

@Omnes Omnibus: Not sure which troll to which you are referring. I assumed that Rising Above is a reincarnation of RtR, because of consistency of message.

redshirt
@efgoldman:
I think Deion is smart and insightful, as far as NFL analysts go.
seaboogie
@Omnes Omnibus: So I am a little bit curious: how do you get to come back after being so egregious? Did T&H and LB just decide to walk away, do you suppose? Less obsessed and delusional than the other trolls under the bridge?
redshirt
@Gin & Tonic:
Me either, that I can recall. That’s why it’s funny he’s pied me, and why I suspect he’s pied a substantial number of people on this site.
Betty Cracker
@redshirt: I hate his show-boating, god-bothering Seminole guts, and he has no fucking clue what he’s talking about 95% of the time.
redshirt
@Betty Cracker: So it’s an FSU thing then?
Corner Stone
Nasty ass drive by the Fish.
seaboogie
@redshirt: How do you know that you are pied?
Omnes Omnibus
@seaboogie:
Excuse me?
redshirt
@seaboogie:
Over several days I’ve asked him specific questions to which I’ve never received a reply.
In this very thread, it seems proven. Watch:
Hey Corner Stone! Your local sports teams are garbage!
Corner Stone
@Betty Cracker:
Deion is a flat out asshole, there is no doubt. But that dude took raw gifted talent, asshole trash talking, and perfect technique to dominate at his position.
Watch him whip. Watch him nae nae. That dude was the balls at cover CB. Tackle? not so much.
Omnes Omnibus
@redshirt: Maybe he just doesn’t respond to you.
FlyingToaster
@efgoldman:
In other words, a second grader?
redshirt
@Corner Stone:
I’m not talking about Deion as a player but Deion as an analyst. He’s better than most of the clowns on TV.
seaboogie
@Omnes Omnibus: If Rising Above is the same as RtR, isn’t there an ISP identifier that is attached to you that keeps you banned under any nym?
redshirt
@Omnes Omnibus:
Possible, but unlikely given his volume.
Eric U.
I definitely had TnH pied. There was no entertainment value there at all, and the responses were not entertaining either. RtR, OTOH, is a perfect simulation of a Bushbot, and that’s entertaining. Book it, libs! Although the racism was a bit much, and the new incarnation featured some of that at first.
@seaboogie: it’s really not that easy. If you start banning by ISP, then you are going to wipe out a lot of people. Banning by IP doesn’t work for most of us since we can easily change that. So really you are stuck banning by email and nym. Which is obviously a moving target, but it takes a certain amount of work on their part, so maybe they’ll go away
Omnes Omnibus
@seaboogie: I don’t have any idea how the technical side of the banning process works. But I would appreciate it if you would explain your remarks about me.
Gin & Tonic
@Omnes Omnibus: That sounded to me like “how does one come back”, not “how do *you* come back.”
seaboogie
@Omnes Omnibus: My remarks about you!? I am very confused.
Ahhh…see G&T’s comment and now understand. Was perhaps not using English properly. And yes, I was talking about the technical aspects of banning, and re-appearing.
Betty Cracker
@redshirt: Mostly a show-boating, god-bothering, clueless thing. There are plenty of former Seminoles I like just fine as players. But when I already dislike one, it’s another strike against them.
@Corner Stone: Agree he was a talented corner. He sucks as a commentator, IMO.
FlyingToaster
@seaboogie: The e-mail address attached gets banned as well, and possibly the specific IP address. However, I can get a new IP address by telling my router “refresh”, or if the power goes out for either me (doubtful, I’ve got a UPS on the router/cablemodem/WAP, as well as both cable boxes) or for the ISP (the local servers are less than a mile away, but they have a generator).
Also see proxy; if you’re trolling, you’ve probably set up a string of proxies to use. I certainly did, back in my FC trolling Stormfront days.
Gin & Tonic
@redshirt: Again, why do you care? It’s just a fucking blog comment section.
Omnes Omnibus
@Gin & Tonic: Aha! I was confused by what seemed like a suggestion that I was an egregious troll who somehow managed to avoid banishment.
@seaboogie: See my reply to G&T just above.
Corner Stone
@Betty Cracker: All those HoF guys are asshole commentators.
seaboogie
@Eric U.: Thank you Eric, my questions are now answered.
redshirt
@Gin & Tonic:
I already told you. Research.
Corner Stone
@Omnes Omnibus:
Uh, yeah?
seaboogie
@FlyingToaster: Thank you, FT, and further trolly insight from your experience is appreciated.
redshirt
@Corner Stone:
LOL. Watch – see, I can now do play by play on Corner Stone’s trolling and he’ll never now.
Omnes Omnibus
@Corner Stone: I’ll cop to asshole but not troll.
redshirt
Speaking of connections to Cole, what was the name of that poster who sold some paintings to Cole?
Omnes Omnibus
@redshirt: You should actually figure out what actually is trolling and what is being an asshole.
Eric U.
@redshirt: well, if he can’t see you, I’ll fill in. Fuck you, fuck you in the ass.
Did I get that right?
redshirt
@Omnes Omnibus: Such a fine line sometimes.
seaboogie
For someone who is pretty much every third comment, you don’t seem to be following this too closely. It’s T&H. And I gather that we are to speak of the dead with only their nym initials.

@Omnes Omnibus: Hah! I so wanted to link to a prior post the other day the Triumph the Comic Insult Dog’s performance with a bunch of dressed in character folks for some past Star Wars debut.
