How many chickens can you see?
Ever since I saw the awful “Jurassic World” the other day, I can’t stop seeing the velociraptor in them.
The most obvious hen (orange, at left) is my favorite: Ravenclaw. She’s the most adventurous.

Two? Baud: where are you seeing four?

I don’t know how to single out an individual tweet, but Kevin Kruse caught a Jeb ad using a NYT graph showing a collapse in trust in gov’t and blaming Obama. Trouble is, the steep drop it shows took place under Obama’s predecessor. Can’t remember that guy’s name just now.

Luvvie has written about Zola:
………….
Lessons from Zola’s Story: The Great Saga of Trapping and Mayhem
Awesomely Luvvie — October 29, 2015 2 25
By now, you’ve probably heard about the epic tale told by a woman named Zola, about a trip to Florida involving Jess, Z, and Jarrett. If you have not heard of this story, you have not been on the internet for the last 36 hours, and you were probably being productive with your life. Kudos. The rest of us, meanwhile, have been hemmed up as we’ve been riveted by the tales of trapping gone wrong, told by Zola on Twitter. HERE IS THE STORY. READ IT.
I have spent the last day hollering at this story. Zola’s story gave me drama, suspense, comedy and thriller. It was like a ratchet Lifetime Movie and it is worthy of big screen. I’m honestly waiting for someone to run Zola a book deal so I can give her my money because she is a gifted storyteller.
One thing I really appreciated about the story, are the lessons Zola passed on to us. There were so many things to take away to apply to your own life. You might not realize that you could extract teachable moments from tales of 2 strippers taking an ill-forsaken trip to Florida, America’s penis. But you just gotta open your eyes and look all around you. There’s inspiration everywhere.
For example, I never knew “Vibing over our hoeism” is a perfectly acceptable pasttime. Does that mean you create a hoeism playlist and jam together in bonding of shared love of the traplife? Because if so, that sounds great and should be an Apple Music commercial. Or a Spotify playlist we can all subscribe to.

Ahem.
No link to the polling firm; no crosstabs. I’m going to call it “Rasmussen” and remember Scott runs an R+9 to R+13 bias, and discount everything against Clinton by 9 points (at minimum), which reverses every slide using that data.
Ditto with Hispanics, African-Americans, Women, and anyone other than white guys.
There’s a lot of wishful thinking here about grassroots; I was looking at NH (which is next door) and Iowa (I grew up in Missouri and I have a sister in Nebraska). In NH you need very committed activists, which is precisely what Jeb seems to lack. His air war on Manchester, Concord, and Boston-area TV is not yielding much at all, even if he is taking votes away from Kasich (yet to be verified). He needs to take votes away from Trump. In Iowa the air war is likely to be more effective; but the caucuses do require you have dedicated activists at every single caucus, not just a “coordinator” to handle a dozen counties — some holding one caucus and some holding multiples, and sending a guy to the county seat at 10pm with the results to tally them all.
There’s a lot of nonsense and wishful thinking, which is the essence of PowerPoint, after all. See Romney, 2012.

@SFAW: Reich to Rise also doesn’t quite get that “blueprints” to victory are subject to contact with reality, and need to be adjusted. When Dunkirk happened, no one in Britain, even Churchill, had the slightest idea how this was all going to end, in detail. They didn’t know that the US would for sure enter the war and make the emphasis Europe, for example, which Hitler so conveniently gave FDR cover for. Even then, how exactly mainland Europe was going to be assaulted was totally up in the air at the time. In retrospect, it all looks so obvious, but everything is obvious in retrospect. ¡Heb! does not have any obvious path to the nomination now that he’s managed to come within inches of being tossed to the kiddie table.

@schrodinger’s cat:
Not even remotely as badass as the other series TV character for which Brooks is known.
Hawk was a BADASS.

@JPL: I love how the Pats mix up their game plans. Watch them rely on Blount for the first half, mixing in some middle throws.

@Davebo: Bring it over to the new Fish thread. Let’s talk Mallett/Rick Smith.

@Bobby Thomson:
Yes, though I doubt they would troll around here. Rawstory and TPM would both lead to more division and better results for a GOP ratfucker.

@Omnes Omnibus:
According to Winston Churchill, there was no such animal:
“We must be very careful not to assign to this deliverance the attributes of a victory. Wars are not won by evacuations.”
goblue72
@Omnes Omnibus: No kidding. I didn’t know there were still people out there who still believed “that hippity hopping isn’t music”.
Chuck D is my generation’s Bob Dylan.

Thousands of theatergoers disagree with you.

@goblue72:
It’s mostly a generational thing, although the rampant misogyny is also a problem.
I own one rap record, a 12-inch of “The Message.” Haven’t heard anything since that spoke to me.
schrodinger's cat
@burnspbesq: I haven’t seen that show.

@burnspbesq:
Public Enemy circa late 80’s early 90’s was pretty special. A sound you have to get used to, though. I remember the first song I heard just sounded like noise.

If Lin-Manuel can’t win you over, then you have no music in your soul.
burnspbesq
@Mnemosyne (iPhone):
Let ’em disagree. I’ll be sitting at home, listening to Bach, Coltrane, the Beatles, X, Tony Rice … happy as a clam, and blissfully unaware of what I’m supposedly missing.

Too chicken to click?

@schrodinger’s cat:
“Spenser: For Hire” was well worth the hour every week. Generally well written, and extremely well acted by Robert Urich, Brooks, Susan Stock, Ron McLarty, and Richard Jaeckel.
DVDs are, alas, extremely hard to find.

Public Enemy, Welcome to the Terrordome
As I said above, if you would, give yourself a chance to accept the music – it can seem cacophonous on first listen.
Mnemosyne (iPhone)
@burnspbesq:
Suit yourself. You probably thought Sondheim was too avant-garde, too.
Betty Cracker
@redshirt: My husband makes all kinds of stuff with it, including flower bed borders, flutes and tomato stakes!
burnspbesq
@Mnemosyne (iPhone):
All you’re succeeding in doing with your succession of posts is making yourself appear narrow-minded and petty.
If you want avant-garde, I’ve got all the Ligeti, Xenakis, Stockhausen, Reich, and Adams you can handle.

@Betty Cracker:
I’m jealous. I’ve read about all kinds of ways to use bamboo – and the dangers of bamboo – but I’ve never got my hands on any.
burnspbesq
@Mnemosyne (iPhone):
You’re talking to somebody who used “Something’s Coming” as a recital and audition piece in high school. So, no, not even close. Nice try, though.
SRW1
@Rising Above:
LOL. Is Jebbie evacuating Iowa?
redshirt
@SRW1: He saved 35 staffers from Des Moines before the Carson Trump mobs seized the HQ.

@redshirt:
Some moments of cleverness there, but overall it just doesn’t speak to me.
burnspbesq
@redshirt:
At some point, he’s going to have to send in commandos to bust the rest out of the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City.
redshirt
@burnspbesq:
I can dig it.
Different music has its place and time.
Public Enemy was very political and Chuck D.’s lyrics often read like African American history lessons. Once I got over the cacophony, I was a huge fan.
burnspbesq
@redshirt:
Your turn. Curious to know what you think. Adams is actually pretty mainstream for contemporary classical music.

But you can. You could just switch candidates. My God, people do it all the time. It’s not a big deal.

@redshirt: No one’s ever accused Burnsie of being hip or open minded.

@SRW1: Is Jeb’s campaign supposed to be British or German? I ar confused.
SRW1
@schrodinger’s cat:
Does he know himself?

The US got a default judgment against them yesterday. Rubio took 27,000 in donations last year.

@burnspbesq:
I liked it. It was aggressive and percussive with a driving forward momentum that was engaging.
That said, due to a bias no doubt, I couldn’t shake the thought it was a soundtrack to a movie I’ve not seen.
Mnemosyne (iPhone)
@burnspbesq:
And yet Sondheim disagrees with you about rap — he actually prefers it to rock when it comes to musical theater:

But, hey, no need to move with the times.
schrodinger's cat
@burnspbesq: What about other genres? There is world of music out there between rap and classical.
Jebediah, RBG
I am watching MASH and Major
Ted CruzFrank Burns just yelled “Can the balloon juice!”Does that mean I have to close this tab?
Betty Cracker
@Mnemosyne (iPhone): You’re probably just kidding, but just in case: the notion that lack of appreciation for rap/hip-hop = stodginess, inability to “move with the times,” lack of music in one’s soul, etc., is 100% bullshit. It’s a matter of personal taste. Period.

I only see the three birds – I saw two at first, and then obviously saw the third buff bird somewhat obscured by a dry bamboo leaf to the right of the blacker bird.
