The Cocker Spaniel got her first walk in a week and a half, she’s about 80% healed up from her injury.

@efgoldman: Workers of the World Unite!
raven
@BillinGlendaleCA: Good deal. Lil Bit has been good, I threw her ass in the gulf today hoping it might help some of her skin issues.

Anna bigfoot up!
Anne Laurie
@raven: Meh, it’ll be back in an hour. Some people can’t be arsed to compose on the FYWP platform, so I can’t see they’re about to post until it’s too late…
raven
@Anne Laurie: Ha!

So Cole will miss the halftime Favrelove fest. Lucky guy.

Just finished Man in the High Castle last weekend. Funny story, advertising for the show was all over the shuttle between Penn Station and Grand Central Station. The trains had one side of the car seats decorated in the Nazi flags and the other side of the car seats in the Japanese flags. I thought it looked really cool but it caused quite the uproar in NYC. People felt it was insensitive. Cuomo had the MTA pull all the advertising.

@efgoldman: Heh, you a me.

@raven: Good to hear Lil Bit’s doing better, Nikki was a bit overstressed last night with guests. But she’s doing much better tonight. Sea water for skin problems? Maybe I should toss the YorkiPom into the surf at Santa Monica.

Someone should really tell these guys that god really doesn’t care about football.

@BillinGlendaleCA: Dawwww.
We just ate dessert and I am so full of deliciousness that I am trying to keep it all down. Aaahhhh.

Cooked soooo much food and ate too much food. Now we’re drinking tea and watching the movie Chef.
raven
@BillinGlendaleCA: I dunno, it can’t hurt,
Steeplejack (phone)
@David Koch:
I think he came back too soon.
raven
@Steeplejack (phone): The way he fell on that shoulder didn’t matter.
Mnemosyne (tablet)
Hanging out at my brother’s vaguely watching the game. He had to leave the room because he’s a Bears fan and was getting too stressed out.
We watched “America’s Funniest Home Videos” instead of the Farve thingy.
Steeplejack (phone)
@raven:
Then that would mean he’s not “Mr. Glass.”

Last night, the moon was huge and ultra-bright but a particularly bleh color.
Easiest way to describe it is the same color as three-day-old mayonnaise.

Scout is asleep on my ass. That should tell you all that you need to know about the physical state I am in after this meal.

Me too.

Saying no more than this, and hoping it doesn’t really count as a SPOILER for The Man In The High Castle, the revelation in the final episode about who the Man In The High Castle is, is rather dispiriting.

Made too much food, guests brought too much food, it was all wonderful.
The apple pie on the right turned out very well. The plate is oversized so I had to guess how long to bake it.

I wasn’t home at the beginning of the bears game so I recorded it. I set the timer for an extra 15 minutes past the scheduled time. I should have set if for an extra half hour. The recording ran out with the packers on the 7 and under a minute to go. Not the way to finish watching a football game.

@Warren Terra:
What revelation?
Not in the version of season 1 I saw.
Bear in mind that the book differs radically from the TV series. The Nazi spy character gets greased halfway through the book, but not in the TV series. In the book, Hitler died in the 1950s and Martin Bormann is running the Reich in the 1960s. In the book, The Grasshopper Lies Heavy is a book depicting an alternative reality in which the Allies won WW II — but it’s an alternative reality different from ours, whereas in the TV series the The Grasshoppy Lies Heavy is a series of films apparently showing our reality.
Season 1 of the TV series ends about where the book ends, so if there’s a season 2, it’s going to have to go on in a direction Philip K. Dick never anticipated.
Personally, I liked the TV series a lot more than the book. Philip K. Dick was a crappy writer. His characters were pure cardboard, and his plots were very thin. This TV series had much better written characters with a lot more backstory and far more vivid internal conflicts than the novel.
‘Twill prove interesting to see what Amazon dreams up if they greenlight a season 2 of the TV series.

It is made very clear thoughout the series that the Man In The High Castle collects the newsreels, and makes use of their information. Also, that they’re rare and elusive, and we infer that the Resistance presumably gets most of them to him.
Then, in the last episode, we see a man quite literally in a high castle who has a cabinet full of the newsreels and finds them useful. Need I say more? And what does us tell us about the prospects for the Resistance?
