My guess is this will be a high-scoring game with Alabama winning in a squeaker. Clemson has a great team. But ‘Bama has a near-NFL caliber defense AND Derrick Henry. That means it’s rammer-jammer time.

What say you?

I say that the second half of the Gophers’ season began over the weekend, with 3-1 and 9-0 wins over Ohio State. I don’t expect the next two weeks to be any tougher, but at the end of the month we go to Bemidji State to ramp up the schedule.

My wife and I have three degrees between us from USC, so it goes without saying that I don’t want to see Clemson win.

I don’t like Alabama either, but unfortunately there’s no way both teams can lose. So roll, Tide. Hip hip.

Clemson’s last win over Alabama came on Oct. 25, 1905 — 40,255 days ago. On that date:
    Theodore Roosevelt was president
Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii were not yet states
Clemson was 12-years old (founded in 1893) and was an all-male military school known as Clemson Agricultural College

    according to ESPN

Clemson’s win over Oklahoma surprised me. I thought that they were going to get waxed. So as an ACC alum, I guess that I want them to win, but I don’t think that they will.

Clemson wins! (You heard it here first.)

It’s gonna come down to who makes the most big plays, avoiding penalties, the turnover battle of course, special teams, that good offense beats good defense, and that defense wins championships.

    Oh, and halftime adjustments.

    Go Tigers!

At a campaign rally in Waterloo, Iowa, the former secretary of State called for a 4 percent surcharge on all annual income above $5 million. As opposed to a raise in the top marginal tax rate, Clinton’s surcharge would apply to any and all forms of income, regardless of its source. At present, capital gains are taxed at a lower rate than income — a policy that famously allows billionaire investor Warren Buffet to pay a lower rate than his secretary. According to Clinton’s aides, the surcharge would affect only one in every 10,000 taxpayers, while generating $150 billion in new revenue in its first ten years.

Bama 3? to Clemson 1?. Although I did not see Clemson play, I did see Alabama shut down LSU. And, though I’m a GA fan living in GAINESVILLE, FL, I always go for the SEC team if they are playing against another conference.

BTW, if you don’t have ESPN, you can watch it online. Go to ESPN website, click “watch”, scroll down to CFP Spydercam” and stream. No commentary, only crowd and ref sound. Always behind the offense (vid) but great way to watch the game.

Is anyone above the Mason Dixon line even watching college football any more (with the exception of the aforementioned OSU)? Seems like it’s only ever southern schools these days. But I quit watching NCAA football a decade ago, at least. So I may have just not been paying attention. I find no joy in it any more.
