One of the six girls who was suspended from her Arizona high school for spelling out the N-word with their shirts after being part of a larger senior class photo has publicly apologized:
“I have come here to say that I am incredibly, incredibly sorry,” she said according to AZ Family. “I have love for everyone in my heart. I am not a racist and I’m asking everyone for forgiveness.”
The girls also explained that they took the picture because one of the girl’s boyfriends is black, and that was who the picture was intended for. Well, that makes everything just fine and non-racisty then!
Team Blackness also discussed the Houston grand jury who indicted the videographer behind the fake Planned Parenthood videos, the Delaware House apologizes for slavery, and Obama bans solitary confinement for juveniles in federal prisons.

How many more innocents will be destroyed by political correctness???
Smedley Darlington Prunebanks (formerly Mumphrey, et al.)
I think this goes to show that nobody is a racist anymore. Well, nobody but those aggressive Black people who bitch and moan about racism. They’re the real problem. If only they’d stop being so racistly sensitive, there’d be no racism at all. I blame Obama.

High schoolers can still be taught (that’s why they’re in school), so I certainly wouldn’t write off a teenager as hopelessly racist.
WereBear
They put juveniles in solitary confinement?
My god, some people are sick.

@WereBear (#4):
This is new to you? Seriously? Sometimes it is/was done because teenager thrown into the big boys’ prison and it was done for the teenager’s protection. Other times, other reasons.

Is Elon James White a vegan? Does he drink milk or eat cheese and thereby snatch little baby cows away from their mommy cows?
I demand to know.

@WereBear:
As mentioned, it’s theoretically for their own protection, but they aren’t treated any differently than the prisoners who are put there as punishment, so we’re basically punishing them for being too young to defend themselves. Which is sick.
And the actual story the president tells is even worse — the kid was held in solitary on Riker’s Island for TWO YEARS without ever getting a hearing.

Baby cows are removed from their mommies theoretically for their own protection, but they aren’t treated any differently than the calves who are taken away as punishment, so we’re basically punishing them for being too young to defend themselves. Which is sick.

I think it’s useful to distinguish between racist people (i.e. people who proudly confess to racist opinions) and racist behaviors and attitudes, which are much more common. (e.g. I’m not a racist, but I am racist in a number of ways.) And after doing something stupidly racist like this, apologizing is a much better way to go than becoming hostile and defensive.

If I have to work, so too should a cow or goat or a chicken.
ruemara
who the fuck would think a photo calling your boyfriend a slur is appropriate?
Mnemosyne
@ruemara:
A stupid teenager.
This is the kind of thing that community service was created to punish.

@ruemara: What?! You don’t see the side-splitting humor in that?
I blame Obama…
