Cruz has already called to block any nominee Obama suggests.
Because the best way to honor the legacy of a Justice known for being a “strict Constitutional literalist” is to ignore the part of the Constitution which clearly grants the President the power to appoint Supreme Court justices. (Brainspore)
I was away and late to comment. He had better hope that there is no just God. Those of us who value humanism and love of our fellow beings will remember him as doing everything that he could to make sure that the weak and poor suffer. Whether there is a God or justice, he will live on in a dark place in my memory… Lets all do a thousand good deeds in the next year to expunge his impact in the world….

When the single-sex marriage ruling came down, I got a kick out of the exchange between a couple Millennial dudes from Weird Twitter imaging what what going on in Scalia’s mind during his dissent. Fortunately some diligent soul archived the thing.
It is written in the “u mad, bro?” style, which was explained by one of the participants in the aforementioned exchange here. It is, umm, an acquired taste; wacky and rather lowbrow.

Poppy Harlow at CNN telling us Obama will get to pick the Supreme Court nominee because he still is “technically” the President.
Maybe this has already been asked (and answered?). Who will be the first VSP to proclaim that Obama must appoint some right-wing hack to show he is a bipartisan, kumbaya president to a heal beleaguered nation blah blah blah…?

Kind of ironic that some Republicans want to re-write the Appointments Clause as a way of getting another originalist on the Supreme Court.
Seriously, I had a tough day and when I heard this just a few minutes ago, my spirit soared.
One way or the other the Court will change balance and our country, and the world, has a better future because of it.

Couldn’t @Senate majority leader have the decency to wait until the funeral before playing cynical politics. Such obstructionism must not stand.

CNN has struggled with the concept that Obama might be a really actually real president since day one, much as they struggle with the concept that minority votes are really real votes.
