We’ve once again reached Friday and my never ending war against dog hair has ended for another day. In fact I’ve begun to modify the lyrics of Butterfield’s Lullaby, better known as Taps, for this war:
“Day is done, dog hair has won;
On the floor and the sofa and the bed….”
Its clearly a work in progress.
Anyhow, once again, I’m donning the frilly apron and the tiara to serve as fill in food goddess while our Doyenne of Digestibles is off doing fabulous things with fabulous people – or whatever it is she’s actually doing.
Per a request from last week, we’re going to do cupcakes tonight. I’ve got two recipes – one for a dark chocolate cupcake and one for a vanilla flavored white cupcake. Both the recipes are the same as for layer cakes, so if a layer cake is your thing, or even a sheet cake, just adjust accordingly. We’ll start with the chocolate one.
Ingredients
In a mixing bowl cream one stick of unsalted butter and a teaspoon of vanilla. Whisk in the caramel ganache until it is thoroughly incorporated and you have caramel buttercream. Then frost.

What’s on the agenda this evening. Aside from working on my reading comprehension skills (see previous post), I’m making blackened catfish and probably going to start a Black Sails marathon.

Come on LGM, you are better than this. Yes, those writers are white and privileged, but the majority of Bernie’s support is from the lower economic rungs. There’s one candidate who is really killing it in the upper economic brackets primary after primary.
Her name ain’t Bernie.
*** Update ***
Lot of people saying I am missing the point, which is probably the truth. I understand the writers are all privileged assholes. I just don’t want the conflation of those jackasses with a lot of dirt poor people I know who are supporting Sanders because he actually does speak to their economic issues in a way they do not feel Clinton is.
That is all. If was wrong, my apologies.

Christ, this Republican primary just keeps getting weirder by the hour:
In case you can’t watch the video, here’s what Cruz said today about the National Enquirer story alleging that Cruz has had multiple affairs:
It is a story that quoted one source on the record: Roger Stone, Donald Trump’s chief political adviser. It is attacking my family. And what is striking is Donald’s henchman, Roger Stone, had for months been foreshadowing that this attack was coming. It’s not surprising that Donald’s tweet occurs the day before the attack comes out. And I would note that Mr. Stone is a man who has 50 years of dirty tricks behind him. He’s a man for whom a term was coined for copulating with a rodent. Well, let me be clear: Donald Trump may be a rat, but I have no desire to copulate with him.
“LOLWUT” doesn’t really cover it, fellow citizens. I am positively agog.
PS: Stop saying “let me be clear,” Republicans. President Obama can pull that off. You cannot.

There may be something to this:
This is in some ways great for Ted Cruz. No, scratch that. It’s great for Cruz in almost every way.
The biggest issue Ted Cruz has run into this campaign has been people refusing to accept him as a human being. They look at his flesh, that resembles ashen wood that was bloated with water, then dried into a warped version of itself. They see his terrifying Russian doll eyes. They look at his gut, that isn’t large in the way Chris Christie’s is, but heaving, as if he’s carrying an egg similar to that of a lizard in pregnancy. They hear his voice screech about ad hominem attacks and the gold standard. Even if they agree with him, they’re likely to think, “someone should put him out of his misery.”
But a potential series of sex scandals would be a gamechanger. Once people get past the horrifying mental image of Cruz removing his proboscis from his pleated jeans, they’ll realize this is more or less a human being who has normal carnal desires […]

CBO: #ACA subsidies increase 11%, overall costs are 25% less than first projected https://t.co/zqCL17yHa5
— MB (@baxterdc) March 25, 2016
So under budget and on projection for the target uninsured rate even with Chief Justice Roberts enabling sociopaths and assholes to stop Medicaid Expansion in 20 states.
Not bad at all….
UPDATE 1: The next time there is a massive social program passing Congress with uncertain costs, we need to put in mechanisms to take advantage of success instead of safeguards against massive cost overruns. The ACA has triggers where if the total federal cost of the advanced premium tax credit and the cost sharing reduction subsidies were more than .504% of GDP, future year individual shares would increase and the thresholds for federal subsidies would decline.
There were no mechanisms in place to say if subsidies were significant below budget that either subsidies for currently qualified individuals would get richer so their out of pocket premium expense would decline OR more people would become eligible for subsidies.
This is just a note to self to find again in 20 years.
