Here are some fat boxers to look at:

They aren’t really as fat as they look in that photo. At least that’s what we tell ourselves.

Please feel free to discuss whatever.

The wife says our Nikki, the cocker spaniel, is fat; Nikki went on a diet today.

I’ve seen that look on many a pup: that maddeningly patient and forgiving stare as you go about your life and they are waiting for you to mind-meld with them so that you will do what they want you to do: feed them, walk them, give them a belly-rub. Adorable.

We caught our neighbor’s pooch running down our street, picked him up just as an idiot roared around the corner. He’s a nice pup, didn’t want to see him get hurt. She was at work and the girl who was keeping any eye on him down the street turned her back on him for just a second when the door was open and he was gone, heading home. I let the girl know we had him and that he was safe and she handed me his leash. He decided that meant it was time for a walk and he led my husband right to his house and waited for him to open the gate. Sweet, well-behaved little guy.

We kept him inside because we don’t have a fenced yard, and it was only for a half hour but our cat is now stressed out, licking off all the fur from the inside of her left arm.

@opiejeanne: Poor kitty. How did she do after you gave the pooch back its human? Give your kitty some skritches for me.

There’s a hijacking going on in Egypt. Hijacking seems so retro. I hope everyone survives.

There were at least 81 people on board
All passengers released except for crew and 5 foreigners
The pilot reported a threat from a passenger claiming to have an explosive belt

I grew up with a tall style boxer, named Ginger because, well, she was ginger brown. Cuddled with her often. Sweet dawgs! Now we have bog old country labs, one blonde-tan and one white-but-for-country-dirt. Loves me some labs now, too. Pets and tunny rubs. They will behave for milk-bones.

@PurpleGirl: Scratches applied. The over-grooming was the way she reacted. Also, her tail was on perma-floof, every hair on it and along her spine standing on end for nearly half an hour after he’d gone home. It’s only been about three months since something set her off and she licked herself raw the last time, but we never figured out what caused it that time. The first time it was because of construction noise, the pounding on the original foundation when they cut a crawl space for the addition, the second time was last summer when there were nails being pounded into the new deck.
She’s young, only 3 yo. Poor baby.

I can’t stomach Happy Valley, so I don’t have that problem! For me he’s Sidney and Prince Andrei. I wasn’t crazy about the mystery this past week, though. They’re trying to be “gritty,” which doesn’t fit the show.

@opiejeanne: I was out walking at a local park that dog owners also frequent to get their animals to crap on property they don’t own. Is a leash requirement, but many let them off. This guy let his off & it headed for a good smell, etc. he was calling for it & it would not go back. I was walking by (as he’s calling for it) & it walked up to me wagging tail, etc. I captured it for him.
