Does this election season seem to have a higher than normal level of suspected rodent copulation activities and/or incidents that could easily be mistaken for such? It’s early yet, but it kinda seems that way to me.

Yes. Lots of rodent copulation. More than usual.

No, you’re not wrong.
When the rodentia population of New York are railing about pornography on the nightly news, there’s too much ratfuckery going on.

Almost a generalized disregard for truth and rational organization of arguments, sometimes done as much for sheer personal amusement and fame/clicks/notority as for intent with purpose. BS as lifestyle and personal branding-choice.

Can anyone remember the name of the PUMA that was frequently interviewed on MSNBC (among others) back in 2008? I think she had red hair. Something keeps telling me her name was Rachel but I’m probably wrong on that.

SCOTUS has issued a non-ruling in Zubik v. Burwell.
Found here: http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/15pdf/14-1418_8758.pdf
The Court basically said – based on statements made in supplemental briefing – that the parties don’t really disagree and should be able work things out on their own. They vacated the appellate court order and sent the case back down with instructions to allow the parties time to work out their differences. I’ve never seen this before. Really weird.
I suspect this is the result of the 4-4 tie on the Court.
The Dangerman
We’re just warming up on the RF’ing; both candidates already have negatives that are through the roof, so to drive them higher, it will have to be some serious fucking. Couple that with the Right being desperate (USSC mostly, or so they will say), it’s gonna get deep out there. Put on your hip waiters.
Marc
@J.A.F. Rusty Shackleford: You probably mean Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild. For some reason I always pictured her as wearing a fox stole with the head and claws still attached, but that may just be my imagination.
J.A.F. Rusty Shackleford
@Marc: No, she was much younger and had no other profile.
That Lady Lynn de Forester woman is a living caricature.
I'mNotSureWhoIWantToBeYet
@J.A.F. Rusty Shackleford: Dunno. Darragh Murphy?
I don’t recall – it’s just something that came up in an image search.
HTH.
Cheers,

@The Dangerman: Pretty sure it’s hip waders. But I know a few hip waiters. ;)

That’s her. I always thought she looked like she could use a little sun.
Thank you so much.

Hmmm. Perhaps someone in the house this end mislabeled the decaf (and they will pay appropriately if so).

Ratfcking is the new normal.
LAO
Dang it! If I knew this post was coming, I would have saved the “a goat stole my cellphone” story! Although more disturbing that the fact that I was mugged by a goat, is that my SIL is going to vote from Trump.
the Conster, la Citoyenne
Al Giordano is DONE with Bernie fucking Sanders and his dudebro army.
Iowa Old Lady
@LAO: I saw your earlier post about the goat and laughed long and hard. Your SIL? Not so much laughing.
MomSense
@the Conster, la Citoyenne:
HAHAHAHAHA!!
You and I should meet in Vermont to knock on doors for Al.
LAO
@Iowa Old Lady: She is the stupidest human being I have ever met. She once informed me, in all seriousness, that acknowledging racism or discussing racism, was in fact racist. So in her opinion, Obama was the biggest racist in the country. I was left speechless, actually speechless — my mouth kept moving but I was unable to make a sound. That was the last time I discussed politics with her until she mentioned Trump yesterday.
Iowa Old Lady
@LAO: FTF, I’ve never heard anyone say they’ll vote for Trump. I’m sure lots of the people I run into will, but they don’t admit it out loud.
the Conster, la Citoyenne
@MomSense:
I’m all in for Al. BJ meet up, coming up!
ETA: He’s not really a strong Hillary supporter, just strongly against Sanders and Trump, and pro-Obama coalition.

It’s probably because I wouldn’t want to have to wear those things, but my brain wants to interpret the snakes face as saying “Get these off!”

@MomSense: @the Conster, la Citoyenne: This is going to put some real hurt — in the sense of cognitive dissonance — on a bunch of liberal Burlingtoners.

@Bill: I’ll post this here as well from Justice Sotomayor:
Just to make sure that the lower courts understand what the Court says by “no view on the merits of the cases,” Justice Sotomayor wrote a concurring opinion putting an exclamation point on that part.
She writes “I join the Court’s per curiam opinion because it expresses no view on ‘the merits of the cases,’ ‘whether petitioners’ religious exercise has been substantially burdened,’ or ‘whether the current regulations are the least restrictive means of serving’a compelling governmental interest,” and warned the lower courts that they “should not construe” either today’s order or its earlier one in the case “as signals of where this Court stands.”

I’m at the cable industry convention and just watched a panel with John King and Jorge Ramos talking about the election. King, amazingly, said that, absent the Sanders campaign, there were a lot of people thinking that Clinton would have chosen a Republican as her running mate to reach out to the center.
What is it with these Villager centrist fantasies? That was about as likely as her picking me for the veep slot.

Failgunner Ted’s team did a fine job to the Carson Camp when they announced Ben was pulling out of the race the night of the Iowa caucuses. A Cruz apology and one staffer thrown under the bus, then it was full speed ahead.

@LAO: Well, I’ve never been mugged by a goat, but I have been stalked by a rooster. Which is actually a rather unsettling experience. I’m not even going to inquire of my in-laws as to their voting preferences. Some things are better left unsaid.

Jesus, these people can’t get out of the way of their own moronic narratives, and the Internet assures they will find one another. Bernie assured us that Hillary won’t become Richard Nixon. Got it.

@Betty Cracker: How long will Senator Sanders retain his D registration?

@rikyrah:
I assume it’s mostly real – he’s been threatening to run.

I’d like to see a chart or map showing the places where the Ron Paul crew took over Republican caucuses or state party committees in 2012 vs. the places where Bernistas are behaving in the most appalling ways this year. I suspect the correlation will be 1:1.
I know many perfectly decent people (and longtime Democratic activists) who are supporting Bernie this year, who are not going to try to burn the place down if he doesn’t win. And I see a lot of similarity between those who are trying to do that and the mindset and tactics of the Paulites — have one guy who’s our only hope, sure they should win even if they don’t get the most votes, willing to learn arcane rules to try to subvert the parts that depend on everyone acting in good faith, etc. (Not to mention the dominant ethnic/gender groups.)
I could be wrong, but I suspect that Bernie was second choice for many Paulites after Rand dropped out, and Democratic organizations should study their 2012 tactics to figure out the best way to respond.
the Conster, la Citoyenne
@Betty Cracker:
What party is Sanders in? He’s registered to run as an I again in 2018.

@the Conster, la Citoyenne: He can’t register to get on the ballot again until a few months before the election. The thing that people are pointing to about this is a fundraising organization – it doesn’t indicate how he’ll be on the ballot.
It’s a nothing-burger.
His spokesmodel says he’s a Democrat until the end of time now (as of a week or few ago).
FWIW.
Cheers,
Scott.

Does Vermont want two ex-Noo Yawkahs as senators?

@NotMax: Vermont isn’t Boston, so I don’t think they care.

That’s funny. I picture her with a live, vicious fox wrapped around her shoulders.
Redshift
@randy khan: I was on the road yesterday and ended up listening for a bit to some random satellite radio show on a channel my wife had on. One of the hosts was putting forth a similar theory that Hillary might pick a Republican VP, because then she could possibly pick up 30% of Republicans who don’t like Trump, and maybe not lose all of the Sanders crowd (who in this delusional scenario are the only Democrats who have a problem with this.) Checking the schedule — ah, it was “Daily Beast Radio,” and the delusional guy was probably the editor-in-chief of the Daily Beast.
It’s always amazing how resistant “the narrative” is to any evidence to the contrary. Apparently lots of our political media actually believe that Hillary is a closet Republican (lots of people are saying it, so it must be true), and Sanders supporters are the only progressives (because there was a big argument about it and they shouted the loudest, and they repeat it all the time), and the most enduring one of all, that there is “populist anger against the elites dominating both sides” despite the fact that Trump won and Bernie hasn’t, and the two have virtually nothing in common, and no federal incumbents have yet lost their primaries except for one who’s been indicted.
Sigh.
Betty Cracker
@the Conster, la Citoyenne: I’m talking about unifying the Democratic Party so we can beat Trump. I don’t really give a fuck about Sanders anymore, and I’m sick of his crybaby supporters too. But it seems to me we need LESS gasoline on the fire, not more.
the Conster, la Citoyenne
@NotMax:
All of the Vermonters I know are transplants. New Yorkers are over-represented there, IMHO.
boatboy_srq
@LAO: Are we related? Because it sounds like you’ve met my sister.
Immanentize
@germy: That about sums it up! Thanks for that trip into … welll… whatever.
the Conster, la Citoyenne
@Betty Cracker:
I don’t think Al’s influence extends beyond his twitter feed at this point, since all he does is block the crybabies. It won’t have any effect on this election, or the convention. He’s trying to make a point to the crybabies about the importance of a peaceful convention, but that needs to come from Sanders himself, and he’d better start soon.
gvg
where did you get that picture? Is it a real shot or photo shopped? who would dress up their snake? I have done it with a cat and dogs, but it’s still odd. I can’t get past the picture. What was the subject again?
Roger Moore
@randy khan:
They aren’t really centrist fantasies; they’re elitist fantasies. They really want government of the elite, by the elite, for the elite. Saying “Fuck You!” to the voters by ignoring party wishes and doing some centrist bullshit is just one example.
Betty Cracker
@gvg: If you look at the bottom right corner of the image, you’ll see the source — iFunny.co (I frequently browse their app — lots of stupid stuff, lots of funny stuff). No idea if it’s real or photoshopped.
LAO
@boatboy_srq: LOL — can’t choose family. (I’d blame Obama but it is my brother’s fault for marrying her).
randy khan
@Roger Moore: That’s a fair point. There’s a strong overlap between the two, as well.
ruemara
@Betty Cracker: which is fitting, as neither has Sanders. He’s said a few things, but the actions of himself, his surrogates, his campaign and a distressing amount of his supporters have been very much puma 2.0, now with less knowledge.
Yellowdog
@I’mNotSureWhoIWantToBeYet: That documemt states Sanders party affiliation as IND so it is layong the groundwork for another run as an I, not a D.
I'mNotSureWhoIWantToBeYet
@Yellowdog: If you’re referring to the FEC filing for Friends of Bernie Sanders, it has existed under that name since at least 2008.
If you’re not referring to that, then please provide a linky.
Vermont has rules about who gets on the ballot and when and how. There are no Vermont filings for 2018 Senate races yet. A FEC filing doesn’t mean squat about how he appears on the ballot in 2018.
HTH.
Cheers,
Scott.

@Redshift:
Because Hillary Clinton is obviously a fainting flower, as weak as the feckless Republicans, and there is NO OTHER possible reason she could’ve won against Bernie tapping the populist anger.
FFS, listen to yourself. This is silly talk.
Of course there is populist anger on both sides, extraordinary amounts of it. Clinton is just a hell of a fighter and a much better politician than she was in 2008, plus she is ALSO tapping the liberal version of that populist anger and her platform is virtually the same. Bernie hasn’t won because his organization is just plain not as good nor as experienced, plus the actual voters are roughly evenly split (not exactly, roughly) which means the more skilled and experienced campaign wins.
If you don’t think Clinton is getting voters who are motivated by populist leftwing outrage too, then the next thing you’ll believe is that she’ll tack right to try to win over Republican voters.
And please don’t, because Hillary will do what is expected, and if enough people insist she HAS to do that, she probably will. But that’s not the plan at the moment. The plan is to win the election in a brutal landslide and then start fixing the country while also making the rich richer (same as before, through goosing the economy and making it up on GDP). Don’t know if it’ll work but she has no intention of jumping off a cliff just because the Republicans will too. She’s not dumb.

Ok folks, Trump is big news but The really really BIG news is the Phillies are one game out of first and it’s mid May. These kind of things are not supposed to happen in a rational universe.
