1.) There’s an election going on. I don’t care about the results because we already know who the two nominees are. I’m not watching because I am sure my neighbors are tired of hearing “Fuck you Bernie Sanders” today.
2.) This morning, I slept in. Why? Because I wanted to. I woke up at 6, Steve was bitching, it was cold, and I thought he can wait for food. I did not wake up until 9. I opened my door, and Steve was sitting in the hallway with a rather large dead bird in his mouth. The message was loud and clear.
3.) About a month ago I started to fill out a form to go to a conference. I got about halfway through and discovered the price was $1500 for three days and that didn’t include travel and accommodations, so I exited out of the form.
Today, I got an email from a woman who works for the conference and she said “I noticed that you started to fill out the form and then stopped, is there anything I can do to convince you to go?”
I replied “No, I just had to decide if spending three days at a conference of marginal utility for my professional development was worth giving up two weeks of vacation somewhere and decided it wasn’t.”
She emailed back “I understand where you are coming from. What if I gave you a promo code for $100? Just enter that the code when you go to pay.”
I replied- “No thank you, I think I am still going to pass. But could you tell me where you are vacationing for two weeks for $100? I’d like to check that out.”
4.) The Night Manager is really good.
5.) I bought Doom via Steam. It fucked up all my graphics. I uninstalled it and asked for a refund, and the uninstall crashed my Steam. I had to reinstall Steam and lost all my saved games for every other game I own. Fuck Doom and Fuck Bernie Sanders.
6.) I am eating two scoops of ice cream tonight and it will once again be the highlight of my day.

Head to desk. I gave a client two weeks notice that I wouldn’t be able to do their accounts any longer. I told them I would help with the transition to a new person, wouldn’t even charge them for my time. I have to share this awesome song, Sairat from the Marathi movie Sairat (Wild) which is breaking box office records in India. Its about young love being dashed on the shoals of reality, in this case – the caste system. She is the local politician and landowner’s daughter, he is the fisherman’s son.
Shot in rural Maharashtra with many first time actors, including the lead pair. Its about an India that I have only heard about but never seen with my own eyes. Even the dialog is in a rustic slang. I am blown away by the beauty of the landscape. Its the director, Mr. Manjule’s second film.

I feel your pain; I had to turn off an online FAX service today (I actually liked it and the price was right, but, best I could tell, it would occasionally get to the point of doing the electronic handshake with another FAX machine only to flip it off, something like the double barreled blast from Spongebob earlier) and I had to go through a number of special offers (curiously, not FAX related) just for me. Really ridiculous; I wanted to tell the CSR to get bent but I’m not sure that would be understood wherever she was in this world (could have been Texas, I suppose).
Anyone have an online FAX service that is worth recommending? I don’t FAX very often but when I have the need, it’s seriously important (but I really don’t want my own FAX machine; my office is cluttered enough as it is).

I assume that not knowing about proportional allocation of delegates is part of the misunderstandings behind Bernie math. Bernistas think that winning states is ultra-important, so they crow every time he wins one. More importantly, they don’t understand that Hillary built up a much bigger advantage by racking up huge wins in a few states than Bernie can by edging her out in a bunch of states. I think it also explains the fervor about winning Nevada; they’re acting as if this was a fight for the whole delegation rather than just a couple of delegates.

is it the wireless dropping out or is it the cable connection? If it is the wireless you probably have to get a different unit but if it is the link to the provider you may very well have a bad connector or a signal level issue. You can ask the support folks to check it but don’t trust them if they tell you it looks good, they either can’t see the right signals or lie (I don’t know which for sure) bite the bullet & have a tech sent out & have them check the signal level at the modem, at the entry point into your house & at the pole. I bet you a dime they will find an issue at one of those places and get you up & running

There’s been a little thing called partisan polarization of the Republican Party after the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960s where the Democrats became the African-American party and the Republicans became the Assholes party. By 1992 the shift was noticeable, and by 2000 it was too late.

In the Lichtman Keys system, a fight for the out-party nomination (which is what we had in ’08) does the party no harm, but when the party holds the White House, it’s deeply damaging. The coronation everyone seemed so scared of was in fact a gift to the party (as was, for instance, Bush I’s in 1988).
For the record, Lichtman’s system currently predicts a Republican victory in November, literally based on the falling of the crucial Intra-party Contest thanks to Sanders voters.

Like most narcissists, Bernie is entitled and condescending — which covers his feelings of inferiority and resentment. Things and people who make him feel envy become the enemy. He is a sad person who is not up to the noble role and responsibility that he had — just not up to what it requires. He can only represent the negative… he never had a script for aspiration related to actually doing something… He was all about the perimeter and milking a following at the margins. He had no tools for a majority run — either personal or informational. His wife I think makes him worse and it doesn’t appear that he has trusted advisors that can help him see things differently. I have some sympathy for his fatal flaws, but this year, I feel particularly ruthless given the stakes. Go home, Bernie. And take your wife — who did you no favors.

Please don’t say that.
I cannot handle Trump winning. I now look back at Romney as a kind of benign god.

@Dog Dawg Damn: She isn’t a ratfucker. If you change ‘nyms, how should I know who you are? Your credibility rests on who you are now. And you have not established any.

On Google+ I’m watching Andreas Schou, who has been spending the whole primary campaign denouncing Hillary Clinton as a lying corporatist warmonger and telling people to vote for Sanders, get dogpiled and accused of being a Hillbot shill because he dares to say that Sanders lost Nevada fair and square and is currently behaving in a non-constructive manner. People are telling him he’s lying about his political affiliations.
the Conster, la Citoyenne
@Dog Dawg Damn:
That’s how I took it too, Dawg. It’s all good. Like I always say, if you don’t have anything good to say about Bernie Sanders, come sit next to me.

The only thing more pointless than Sanders continuing his campaign: the Braves firing Fredi Gonzalez.

@raven: Matewan.

@Elie: This is basically the election where Trolls have taken over the parties. The GOP is nominating their troll, and we are risking losing because we shut ours down. Long way to November….
gogol's wife
@the Conster, la Citoyenne:
I took it as a compliment too.
dmsilev
@Matt McIrvin: The only thing surprising about your comment is that anyone still uses Google+
(sorry)
Dog Dawg Damn
@Omnes Omnibus: Oh, okay! I need to email Cole and get the updated terms of service for Balloon Juice credibility.

I voted for Bernie as a way of stating that I want a strong progressive left, but he is really pissing me off. Go Hillz.
Dog Dawg Damn
@gogol’s wife: Thanks y’all. I used to go by Nate Dawg, but wanted to put my actual name out of the nym. Omnes, it could be possible you just misread my comment. The “rodent copulation” was the tell that it was all in good fun.
So, is there any chance that Hillary wins Oregon? Al Giordano seems to think so. Nothing would make me more manic right now.
maryQ
@The Thin Black Duke: I’m going to sleep on these words.
Elie
@Dog Dawg Damn:
Really? We are risking losing? Indeed, we would definitely loose with Sanders at the helm! He has never had any vetting! They (the MSM, republicans), would tear him to pieces. He is not as clean or perfect as he pretends. And he has this singularly unpleasant AND unattractive partner. Oh PLEASE! You aren’t paying attention….
Omnes Omnibus
@Dog Dawg Damn: Do what you need to do.

Sorry — maybe one too many glasses of red wine? No worries… Sometimes the inflection on interpreting a written comment gets dicey. Apologies…. Still I stand by what I said… Sanders is unvetted and would present a huge risk… you seem to give him more credit than he is warrented

FOR FUCK’S SAKE, PEOPLE, IT’S “REIN IN” – AS IN, YOU KNOW, A HORSE’S REINS? – NOT “REIGN IN”.
As in “Someone needs to *rein in* Bernie Sanders’s stupid fucking campaign people.”;
vs. “Bernie Sanders thinks he needs to *reign in* Washington.”
Fucking English language. How does it work, again?
ETA: What are YOU looking at? Get off my lawn! It’s raining out there!
Humdog
Oregon numbers out yet? Do the mail ins just have to be postmarked today?
RobertB
@Miss Bianca: For all intensive purposes, ‘rein’ is the same as ‘reign’. :)
Omnes Omnibus
@Miss Bianca: I already addressed that.

@Miss Bianca: it’s raining all over the world

Reigning? No it’s just a light drizzle.

Two more nails in Sanders’ coffin. How many more do we need to seal it?
Miss Bianca
@Omnes Omnibus: Did you, faith? (reads more of thread). Alors, excusez-the-fuck-out-of-moi, Majeste. Mille pardons.
ETA: Apparently it cannot be too often addressed. i’ve seen this construction happening way often here of late, and it’d got my cranky grammarian pants itching.

@The Dangerman: If you have a friend with a small business, they may well have a fax they’ll let you use once a month or so. If I have to fax something, it comes from a friend’s auto body shop. I bring a large iced coffee for the receptionist, just to be not an asshole.

Goodnight folks! Up and at em tomorrow for medical mobile to migrant worker homes in Skagit, County WA.

I think Bernie may have really damaged himself today. Two close relatives of mine, pretty strong Sanders supporters, have both said they were very put off by his statement about Nevada. I think his support among women, in particular, is going to really suffer. Be interesting to see what happens in the next few days.
Miss Bianca
@Omnes Omnibus: Ah, and forgive me for being swinish. Some personal disappointments have obviously gone more to my head than I realized. Plus the mead. That’s evidently gone to my head as well.

Tow the line.
Honing in.
I’ve given up on beg the question.

@Humdog: Oregon has been called for Sanders, as everyone expected. According to the Guardian site, running about 53-47 with 60% in.

So quick summary:
The voters are still there for ‘socialist revolution and not corporatist centrism’
Bernie still isn’t going to win because he’s not going to have the delegates
Even if he did, that would be bad because we need to let the REPUBLICANS be the ones led by trolls and idiots
Therefore, we need to run Hillary and have her vow to represent the hippie wing of the party, but allow Bernie and some of his braintrust to fuck up his run to the point where people think he’s no more serious than Trump is. This will peel off Bernie voters more than any amount of strong-arming because getting hostile with Bernie people only makes them double down, because it is exactly that attitude which is driving them.
John Cole is excepted from this as we all know he hates everybody :)
I am a Vermonter and still want Bernie to be my Senator, though it is possible that events between now and November will change my mind. Predictably, strong-arming and threats of primary challenges by bozos like Al Giordano just make me go OH FUCK NO, and I’m expecting to vote for Hillary Clinton, so God only knows how those shenanigans go over with bernie-or-busters

Just got around to reading Sander’s statement on the events in Nevada. While it wasn’t exactly Trumpian, it certainly seemed dismissive of very real problems. I would be pretty pissed off if I were a Democrat.

@dmsilev:
Unlikely. If he were*, he’d be asking us all to do his research for him in preparation for his next magnum dopus.
* For Miss Bianca’s benefit, change that to “If he was ..”
ETA: Or should it be magnum d’ohpus?

@Boob In Putinland: Jeebus fracking Cripes, you still haven’t been hit by a bus?
FTR, I will be happily whistling past whatever graveyard they dump your worthless Putinsucking carcass into, soon as it happens (& it can’t happen soon enough). Provided they bury you face down so that on the off chance you revived & started digging, you’d end up in hell.

For the information of the Juicetariat, Cenk Uygur happens to be Turkish for “Young Uighur”–& since the Uighurs are an ancient Turkic peoples who mostly live in NW China, the FSU-stans & Turkey itself, his name is as close as one comes to “Young Turk” without giving the game away.
