Where are the green balloons!!!
Looks like fun – let’s do another one in the summer, and I will make sure to be there!
JPL
That’s quite an impressive group.
SarahT
Looks like a success & a good time for all. So wanted to go but had to be out of town. Sigh…
John Cole
No snarling. Weird.
LAO
It was fun!
gogol's wife
Shouldn’t there be like the equivalent of the Republican and Democrat conventions, where we pick a city and we all buy tickets and get hotel rooms and gather?
Ivan X
@John Cole: ikr?
We did briefly discuss what a bad (as in not-very-good-at-it) misanthrope you are though.
Betty Cracker
Everyone looks so nice!
redshirt
@Betty Cracker: And sophisticated!
Baud
@gogol’s wife:
The BJ Party National Convention!
America will be screaming for Green Balloons.
Gene108
If you can manage it on the weekend, I could manage to come.
Or we could do a Philly area meet-up…
Kenneth Kohl
My, that is a fine looking group!
Helen
We are GORGEOUS. Oh yes we are. A great night. Thanks again Reddirtgirl. Except for the pic of the back of my head. No thanks for that! ;)
PsiFighter37
@Gene108: Philly had a great Drinking Liberally scene once upon a time. Meeting up with Atrios, Chris Bowers, and Booman in person was a real treat. Now that I think of it, this was almost a decade ago…
Baud
@Helen: I’m going to have the most attractive cabinet meetings.
Helen
@Baud: @Baud: I know, right???
Suzanne
Y’all are adorable! Looks like a great time!
Helen
@Baud: Also, too. I look nothing like a cynic and a bitch, right? I look like the nice Irish Catholic from the suburbs girl that I am. Right? Right?
Baud
@Helen:
Truth be told, I want cynical bitches in my administration.
geg6
Looks like fun. Bummer that there will never be a Pittsburgh one for fear of sending Cole into hiding. I’d love to meet some local BJers. :-(
jharp
Am I the only schmuck that lives in Central Indiana?
Seems to be no chance of an event here.
Patricia Kayden
Those were lovely photos of lovely people. It’s neat to be able to put faces to names you see over and over in the comments section here.
Citizen_X
@John Cole:
Possibly related to the absence of a certain blog proprietor…
MazeDancer
How wonderful you all look! Thank you so much for pics. Vicarious meeting-up is fun, too.
Prescott Cactus
I’ don’t think Phoenix can compete with that.
I know we can !
Looks and sounds like you had a great time. Congrats ! ! !
LAO
@Baud: Helen is qualified. ?
Helen
@LAO:
Thanks LAO. Your faith in me is much appreciated! Fantastic drinking with you!
LAO
@Helen: it was much fun. And great to hang out/meet you.
jerry
Hi Helen and LAO,
It was great meeting both of you! Sorry I forgot to exchange email contact info with you. I hope we can do this again soon.
Jerry
satby
@Baud:
That’s why I’m going to be in it, IIRC.
Vixen Strangely
Come the Democratic Convention, I might like to see people at a meet-up here in Philadelphia, so I’d be in.
satby
Looks like a great time and a great turnout. Nice! Glad you all enjoyed!
Mike J
@Vixen Strangely:
I’m allergic to giant puppets, and I’m afraid the streets will be full of them.
Miss Bianca
you all look fabulous! and looks like a fabulously fun time! Why can’t I be closer to NYC? (pouts).
One of these days, tho’, I’ll hit town to do an intensive workshop with Tony DeMarco, and then watch out!
PsiFighter37
So…did anyone in SF want to step up and volunteer a spot on June 15? :)
Adam L Silverman
@Baud: They’ll think you’re an AQ affiliate. Trust me, color choice is very, very important if you don’t want to get blowed up real good!
Adam L Silverman
@jharp: No, there are lots of schmucks that live in Central Indiana, as well as North, South, East, and West Indiana. You are, however, the one who is self identifying and commenting here.
LAO
@jerry: we will definitely do this again!
Sam
It was tons of fun, even though there were clearly too many lawyers (myself included)
:)
Anne Laurie
@geg6
Nah — just announce your event, with a big coda that COLE IS NOT INVITED.
Either he takes your ‘out’, or he shows up just to piss you off. Win-win!
Adam L Silverman
@Anne Laurie: Or offer free mustard.
Anne Laurie
@Mike J:
Better than the Repub convention; the streets there will be full of giant tools.
To be fair, so will the convention!

This was a fun evening. Warm thanks to @RedDirtGirl for organizing!
redshirt
@Adam L Silverman: Or shitty Dead portraits.
Jack the Second
@jharp: Try setting something up around Christmas — there will no doubt be a bunch of ex-pat Hoosiers who need to go somewhere far away from their families and drink for a bit.
PurpleGirl
I enjoyed myself a lot. I haven’t been getting out much and I very much wanted to be at the meet-up. I got there late so I stayed to very end. It was great to meet a lot of new people and others I’d met at other meet-ups. I could make a meet-up in Philly or Pittsburgh, but I need time to figure out travel plans. I’d would have loved to go to Phoenix. I’ve been thinking about doing some traveling. If I got to Phoenix I’d love to go to Litchfield Park and see what the WigWam Resort is like these days. (In 1990 I spent 19 days there for arbitration hearings,)
ETA: It was good to have the meet-up on Friday night because my complex is turning off power tonight for repairs/upgrades to our generators.
RedDirtGirl
It was a great night, and great to meet so many fellow BJers. Forgot to mention that lurker ML (i think) turned up on the late side and was a great addition to the group,
jerry
@RedDirtGirl:
RedDirtGirl,
Thanks for organizing a very entertaining evening. Unfortunately, I can’t make out the email address you wrote on the back of my business card. If you read this message, could you send me an email so that I’ll have your correct address?
HeartlandLiberal
@RedDirtGirl: I have to ask RedDirtGirl, since we are from Alabama, are you from Alabama? The Red Dirt of Alabama, in the north, is very characteristic. We even have red dirt Alabama tee shirts we wear occasionally. We fled the state in 1969, I have to admit, but still have a few friends and family there.
RedDirtGirl
@HeartlandLiberal: No. I took my nym from Emmy Lou Harris.
RedDirtGirl
Forgot to mention this. As people left the meet-up they gave me cash to settle the bill. At the end of the evening we ended up with $126 extra. At PurpleGirl’s suggestion, I sent it to MARC as a BJ donation.
LAO
@RedDirtGirl: So no fistfights broke out and we’re not a bunch of cheap bastards, I’d say the evening was a success!
Robin Gittelman
Such a great evening. Wonderful meeting you all!!
HeartlandLiberal
@RedDirtGirl: Well, that is OK. One of my favorite singers. I have most of her vinyl from back before CDs. Love her albums.
