@humboldtblue: remember when the pens were blue and white. But then 1979 happened and they switched. Still had to go back to their old colors when they played the Bruins.

Flyers just lost Rick MacLeish mainstay of the Broad Street Bullies (he also pulled on a Penguins sweater) and the Penguins changed their colors once the Steelers ended their 70s reign with No. 4 and the Family had just won the World Series.
Fun fact — The Pirates were one of five teams to wear the Pillbox hat in the 1976 season in honor of the 100th year of National League baseball but the only one to keep wearing them for a few years afterward.
