Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

Republicans in disarray!

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

Fight them, without becoming them!

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

The revolution will be supervised.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

“Facilitate” is an active verb, not a weasel word.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

In my day, never was longer.

the 10% who apparently lack object permanence

This blog will pay for itself.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

    Does Bolivia stand a chance?

That was not offside that pass started with the CF in his own half.

    Chile.
Mostly because I vote for the team with the best kit.
On the other hand, I watched the highlights of Les Bleus when I got home from work – when did they get rid of the white collar? Even as an Italia fan, I ALWAYS liked that je ne sais quo touch.

Also: NIKE needs to learn that the US blue is NOT that powder blue shit. We ain’t the fucking Chargers

If it walks like a Duk, talks like a Duk, gets called offside like a Duk it’s a Duk.

    And I’ll see myself out.

@tsquared2001: Almost all of the Euro kits are dreadful and the with Copa as well. Stupid shoulder swatches and odd coloring, the 1980s neon piping and striping and third-kit style mashups. Goddamn kids and their modern looks and fashion and changing very trivial things, piss me off.

This nation may have its collective issues but I’m watching a Copa America Cup soccer match featuring Chile v. Bolivia and it’s being played in Massachusetts and there are what, 12-15,000 people in the stands?

    Not bad.

@humboldtblue: The piping part is the worst. If you want to go retro, do NOT pick the ’80s.

These crosses by Chile are missing by JUST a bit. Gotta think that bad luck will change

The Bolivian keeper was putting in SOME work there.

    @Omnes Omnibus:

I would but it would never end because the hairstyles of soccer players have always been a bit odd and every league and every national team has two or three hipsters who just make you shake your head and think of a time when a sportsman and athlete kept it short, sharp and close.

Now the tattoos, well, just you grab a seat over there, mister, let’s talk about the umm … the inking is dreadful.

A “cultured left foot” per the announcer. I thought that meant trenchfoot, but apparently not, as Bolivia equalizes.

Don’t think that referee will be doing much past the group stage.
