Hamsik had a great run for Slovakia, but his shot was saved off the line by Davies, then Bale with a great free kick to give Wales the lead.
Wales is playing without their first choice keeper and is starting Ward a backup at Liverpool. Ward is making his full international debut

Someone at the Guardian (I think) has Slovakia as a sleeper.

Look at the Welsh Xavi with his sexy beard and his chicken-raising hobby (someone should alert Betty that Joe Allen has been featured on the front of chicken magazines in the UK) who will probably be playing PL ball in a shirt other than Liverpool next season.
And it’s joy to hear the Welsh sing.

@BillCinSD: The Reds love him although he’ll most likely go out on loan this season but his upside is pretty high.

and Skrtel being Skrtel managed to actually get close enough to a striker to elbow him in the head

I’ve heard those whispers too but I’d be surprised to see Allen leave Anfield. He’s got everything Klopp wants in a Midfielder – he’s hard working, quick thinking, skillful on the ball and he has a glorious mane of flowing chestnut hair. What’s not to like?
Skrtel though just showed why Klopp doesn’t fancy him. He’s gritty enough but he’s increasingly become a fouling machine. Wales should have had a penalty there and been 2-0 up, probably.

Happy my daughter had a successful set of flights and trains to get to a remote German city to do her summer job helping to solve a vacuum question on the giant Wendelstein – 7x fusion stellarator. While fusion may well be the energy of the future and, unfortuity, may always be (lol) we as a species need to try and get this most powerful energy source working if we want to have nearly unlimited energy that is carbon free (solar and wind are critical, too) and want to reach the stars (literally!) While I work in a similar field (hence, corrupted my poor daughter relative to her degree but I am encouraging her to follow her own path in any field) I can not be more proud – she is of the generation (a senior at MIT) that will try and save our world. There are many such young people and I really have high hopes they will make a difference!

@Tony J:
Skrtl is already gone and Kolo was released yesterday. I agree with you about Allen he’s a great fit for Klopp but when will he play? That’s the question and if he wants to start and play regularly he’s probably gonna have to move. The Reds won’t play 64 games next season and with no Europe you’d think Klopp will find a starting 11 and keep them together and that makes it tough for Allen.
It would be tough to lose the Welsh Pirlo but he may want more playing time. We can always remember him if he leaves with some music, though.

I hear it’s only ten years off, tops.
But seriously, you must be super-proud. “It’s not rocket science, it’s more important than that.”SRW1

Greifswald?

@humboldtblue:
I hear you, and you’re probably right, but if Klopp,wants to build a Premier League winning squad (or at the very least challenge hard for it and earn a top-four place) he needs to keep players like Allen around for cover and for the season after that when we – will – be playing 60+ games. Otherwise we’ll be spending the late summer of 2017 shelling out tens of millions trying to flesh out the squad with quality players who may or may not work out.
Plus – Goal! Bales are going to do this!
Plus – Shut the f##k up Robbie ‘gobshite’ Savage.

Oh, that’s how you do a strike though.
