Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

šŸŽ¶ Those boots were made for mockin’ šŸŽµ

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Republicans can’t even be trusted with their own money.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

ā€œAnd when the Committee says to ā€œreport your income,ā€ that could mean anything!

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

American History and Black History Cannot Be Separated

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

As we get into the Copa Centenario knockout stages, take 20 minutes after the match and listen to Al Murray give you a break down of how things are going in the European Cup

When the ball reaches Bobby Wood he is dangerous, he does his best not to waste a push and watch the replay, he made that goal happen by not going down in the box.

So Jermaine Jones hasn’t lost his touch playing MLS I see.

  29. 29.

    cmorenc

    June 16, 2016 at 10:52 pm

Stupid move by Jermaine Jones to poke Valencia in the face after Valencia was likely going to receive a YC for the kickout foul against Jones. So both players wound up getting sent off, Valencia just for second yellow and Jones a straight red. US is going to be at a disadvantage in next round, especially if the opponent is Argentina, without Jones and Wood.

Ref’s going to have a challenge keeping this under control the rest of the game. Getting not only very physical, but very chippy (emotionally volatile).

For Aston-Villa to have stunk up the bottom of the EPL as awfully as they did this season with as good a GK as Guzan, their field players (especially defenders) must have been absolutely terrible.

The last time the US and Argentina met in Copa America, on a rainy night in Paysandu, Uruguay in 1995, Cobi Jones and Earnie Stewart tore them apart, and the USA won, 3-0. If you watched it on tape delay on Univision, you haven’t forgotten.

Somebody in the US organization needs to send a thant you note to Robbie Keane. The mentoring that he has done with Zardes has really been paying off for the US in this tournament.
