This is kinda interesting, but it is yet another horse-race story, another inside-baseball story. There’s still little or nothing about actual policy differences between the parties and their presumed standard-bearers. The question is, who would pony up the money? The average GOP voter seems happy to have the orange clown as their nominee, and the opposition are just as happy that he’s their nominee. Meanwhile, most of the GOP insiders and donors are either reluctantly supporting him or studiously staying neutral. So where does the money some from?

Dude is mos def a sociopath and off the charts narcissist. I believe he got into this for revenge after the humiliation at the WHCD in 2011, and to build his “brand”. Hillary and Elizabeth can surely have some fun with it if the GOP starts really discussing paying Trump off to get out of the race, but I don’t think he’d do it before the convention, because he is getting some serious juice from his Nuremburg rallies and really wants to stick it to everyone, including the GOP. And I am very happy for him to do that. Make the GOP own the result of decades of dog-whistles, and lose not just the Senate, but the House too.

There is a bit of onion but you can vary the amount to taste. Low heat, cook for 8-12 hrs.

Here is something I found that is a bit different
2 lb pork loin
1 oz fajita seasoning mix
1C apple butter
1/4C Dijon mustard
2 lb red potatoes
6 oz sour cream
1 bunch (probably about 6 oz) fresh spinach
Mix the seasoning with the mustard and apple butter then coat the loin with the mixture. Cut the potatoes into bite sized chunks. coat the bottom & sides of the slow cooker with oil then put the potatoes in. Place the loin on top of the potatoes and cook on low for as long as it takes (6 hours?). When done pull the loin out and set it on a platter, use two forks to shred it. Stir the sour cream into the potatoes and liquid from cooking until blended toss in the fresh spinach, then return the shredded pork to the cooker & serve.

Yes, I do understand that. How I keep this all in perspective is to understand that this “boil” on our collective ass has been festering for quite a long time now. Sometimes it arises and gets painful and tender, then to subside for a little while. For actual healing to occur, I believe that the hard little nut of the original infection must be allowed to fester and rise until it can only explode and be released on a tide of toxic, bloody pus. Then we give the wound some air and time to breathe and heal. Very graphic, I know – but if you’ve ever had a boil, it makes a lot of sense.

Simple (and no garlic).
1 cup chopped cranberries (or substitute with diced prunes)
1/4 cup honey (less if using prunes)
1 tsp. grated orange peel
1/8 tsp. ground cloves

optional: just a bare pinch of ground sage
Sprinkle pork with salt and pepper, and place in slow cooker. Combine everything else and toss into pot. Cover and cook on low for 8 – 10 hours.

(IMO, they should pay Trump the smallest amount they can get away with up front and stiff him the rest after he goes for not quitting quickly or thoroughly enough.)

Too easy to read uncharitably, Adam. Too easy.

Why does everyone always focus in on The Donald, and not on the rightwing media-spew (Fox News, the think tanks, the vile emails, all of it) that made him possible?

Strange, innit, how those things have never been mentioned on BJ?

I have to wonder what can be going through the minds of Trumpf’s supporters during all this. Do they continue to think that it is part of the show? Or is this pushing their rage levels even higher? If he did drop out who do they blame? And what would they do afterwards?
Believe it or not, I think the worst thing the Repubs could do for their party is to toss Trump and run one of the other sixteen losers in his place. That would be a long term debacle, whereas a Trump rout would be a short term blip.
Now if they were actually worried about the country and the impact of a Trump win, then yeah, they should buy him off today. But then what? Would anyone really feel any better with a possible [highly unlikely] Pres. Cruz/Ryan/Rubio or whichever POS that is chosen to run?

@Mnemosyne: Very late to the thread, but to me, pork tenderloin and crock pot don’t belong in the same sentence. Just as I wouldn’t do a ribeye in a crock pot, the tenderloin is already…tender.

Betty Cracker referred to Trump as “The Angry Circus Peanut” once, and I’ve been giggling about it ever since.
At least I think it was Betty, but it could have been AL…..

blasphemy! use a lesser brand to cook with (early times is good) and drink the Dickel while the dish cooks.

@ci: Plus, there are campaign contribution limits – $2700. Sure, there are SuperPACs and the like, but it’s illegal for them to coordinate with the actual campaigns. None of this “pay him to go away” stuff makes sense as presented.
If someone were to structure something to get Trump out of the race, they wouldn’t be talking about it on Twitter. It would be something with winks and nudges along these lines:
“I’ve been told by my doctors that I have a serious heretofore unknown medical condition and must withdraw from politics for my health. I’m therefore suspending my campaign and setting up a new non-profit foundation to continue the fight to Make America Grate Again. Please donate as much as you are able to MAGA and be sure to deduct it from your taxes. …”
Of course it would be structured as non-profit because the MotUs always want to cut their taxes.
If something like that were to come to pass, he’d be courted like mad to see who he would endorse for the Teabagger ballot. He’d be in the news for months. He’d love it – all of the benefits of running with even less of the work. He’d probably endorse Dr. Ben Gifted Hands – “Hey, I gave him a yuge beautiful classy campaign and he lost it. It’s not my fault he was such a loozer.”
But it’s all eschatology of the GOP right now. Trump’s not going to quit unless he has some sort of genuine medical event (which is certainly possible).
My $0.02.
Cheers,
Scott.

“Can’t make this stuff up, folks!”
But apparently somebody did. I can’t find a source for this claim, other than the Rebecca Ballhaus tweet. Maybe she meant it as a joke.

Don’t give him a cent! Make him stand up and take his whipping like a man for once. I want to hear his election night concession speech, as he loses 40 states.
Barbara
No self-respecting billionaire would give him even a penny for this purpose. They won’t even donate to him now because they know that their donations will be used to retire his debt not advance his campaign. If they did give him money to drop out, then the party would be asking them for even more money to fund the campaign of the replacement. So they get to pay double for a double dose of uncertainty. That’s not how billionaires get and stay rich. Whatever you think of their morality or politics, billionaires are rarely stupid and they perceive exactly what we perceive: that Republican politicians want SOMEONE to bail them out of this mess without any of them having to take a principled stand that might put their own political career at risk. Paul Ryan is not just Exhibit A, he is the master woodblock carving out of which all the others have been pressed. Why should anyone risk money or reputation for such spineless, opportunistic, unprincipled cowards?
PPCLI
This is a great opportunity-the Republicans would be wise to handle it according to Trump rules. Agree to the deal, then after he’s announced he will accept it and drop out, stiff him.
Eric U.
@PPCLI: I had exactly the same idea. Apparently he tries to go for 5 or 10 cents on the dollar, but in this case that would still be more than he deserves. Straight up refusing to pay is the best approach. In Trump’s case, he often has tangible assets that can be a problem for him in a lawsuit, I don’t see how he wins in a case involving this deal

@Baud: whatever happened to voting for baud?

@Luthe:
This is why the establishment that is quite comfortable with Cheney and Cruz have a trouble with Trump. The evil is a requirement, not simply a accidental byproduct. They can’t rely on him backing the evil policy option consistently enough.

@Mnemosyne: place the loin fat side up in the crock. Pour a jar of Herdez medium salsa Verde over the loin and cook on low for 7-8 hours. Pull the pork after and use for tacos, burritos, whatever. Delish!

Don’t drink anymore and even when I did my liquor cabinet was very, very sparse. Very. It held George Dickel. And none of that useless 7 yr old stuff. So if I was or am cooking with anything, it’s George.

@I’mNotSureWhoIWantToBeYet:
Your, it would be on the QT would be fine if it were anyone else. Drumpf would sing from the rafters about how much he’s making. Seeing as it would be the most he’s ever made, had or seen, ever. Of course I can also see someone setting him up with the FEC or some federal prosecutor looking to get ahead. That would get drumpf out of the way, and probably cost them nothing.

Finally found it.
