From commentor Sacrablue:
Well here I am again with another cat bleg. He showed up under my son’s window about a month ago. I heard meowing at 2am and thought that one of my little darlings had broken through the screen door again. I went outside with my flashlight and this sweet little boy ran right up to me. Looking more closely, I saw that he didn’t have a tail, (not one of my four), but he thought he belonged here.
My son fed him and made him a bed in my garage and that is where he has been living for the entire time because our semi-feral brat cat refuses to accept another cat in the house or backyard. Somebody dumped this sweet boy, he is definitely not feral. He is a typical Manx, very friendly, almost puppy-like and gets along with my other three cats. He bonded with my son that first night. Our neighborhood vet couldn’t identify him (he isn’t micro chipped).
The weather is too warm to leave him in the garage all day so I have to rotate cats in and out of the house during the day. He might have come from a home with dogs because I’ve been outside with him as some neighborhood dogs have stopped by on their walks. He is very curious and doesn’t back away from them.
He really needs a proper home. I really think he could be a perfect lap cat. I’ve come really close to giving him a name but that means I’ll have to keep him. Five cats is at least one too many. Please, someone needs this cat in their life…
Anybody who’s interested (or who knows someone that might be), leave a comment or contact me at annelaurie dot verizon dot net, and I’ll forward your message to Sacrablue.

Awww. Who could resist that smile?

Cute cat. I hope that you find a good home for him.

What a sweet guy. He makes his own fortune. I like doglike cats.
Origuy
I shared this to Facebook, where I have several people in the Sacto area.
SiubhanDuinne
What a sweetie! Hope he gets his perfect Forever Home soon.
Mnemosyne
He looks very much like my late great Boris, who was the sweetest cat who ever lived, though Boris had green eyes. If necessary, I know people who know people at the San Jose animal shelter.

If you haven’t done so, please consider contacting Happy Tails no kill sanctuary. 916 556-1155. It’s a no kill sanctuary with lots of good rescue/adopt info.
We’re in the final days/weeks of our darling elderly indoor feral tabby’s life. If Timmy kicks the bucket, I may be able to accept this charmer, but can’t introduce a new cat to poor Timmy. I’ll send an email with sets per instructions.

What a cutie. I’ll bet he gets a home real soon!

When I die, if there is a heaven, I hope all my long-gone cats are waiting for me.

I wish my dog would allow me to bring a cat home (or another dog) but she is awful. It has been a little over a year since I have had a cat and I don’t like it one bit. This is the only year of my whole life without a cat!
I love honk I’ll have to add volunteering at the shelter to my activities so I can get a kitty fix since all my freaks have been trapped, fixed, and placed in homes and/or barns. We have a lot of farms that need barn cats to control rodents. It’s pretty cool actually.

@laura:
One of the all time greatest cats I ever loved was a feral. I miss her so much. Please give Timmy whatever is his favorite thing for me.
sacrablue
@Origuy: Thanks, I appreciate any help I can get, especially because I am getting too attached already.
sacrablue
@Mnemosyne: This guy has green eyes. I’m just a lousy photographer.
sacrablue
@laura: So sorry to hear about tabby Timmy. Hoping for the best for him.
I have tried Happy Tails in the past. They always claim to be bursting at the seams. So is every other rescue around. That is why I have four other cats. All were feral.
I will be honored to keep the darling manx boy for as long as you need me to. Just say the word.

what a face, and what a great description. i hope he finds a home fast.

What pointy, pointy ears!

Oh, he’s beautiful. I hope he finds his furrever home soon. Every cat/kitten deserves a good furrever home.

what a beautiful cat, smoke tabby

@sacrablue:
Is he actually a Manx, or is he just missing his tail? I thought Manxes had bigger hindquarters, but I think I’ve only seen posed pictures of them.
sacrablue
@Mnemosyne: I can’t say for sure. It doesn’t appear to have been amputated. From what I have read he has some characteristics of a manx. He has wide shoulders, dog-like behavior and strongly bonding to one person. My son stayed in the garage with him that first night. I went into the garage at 6am and found the cat curled up with my son on the hood the car.
eataTREE
@sacrablue: That’s adorable.
If you still need a new home for the cat, we can help. I emailed Anne Laurie with details.

@sacrablue:
Looking at the Cat Fancier’s Association website, apparently a stump tail is not uncommon in Manx cats, though it disqualifies them as show cats, so you may be right. There’s also the American Bobtail breed, but it’s so hard to tell with cats. A lot of breeds look very similar to each other.
Barb2
De-lurking
He looks like a Japanese Bobtail. Plus the behavior is typical Japanese Bobtail. This breed is small and very adaptable, gets along well with other dogs and cat. Is able to train two leggeds. Loving, loyal, devoted and very dog like. The breed comes from Japan via China. In the 80s a military family brought a JBT back to the states. Avid cat lovers saw the cat – “where did you find this extinct cat breed”. The response, Japan, sent the cat hunters to Japan. More JBT were found and brought to the US and Canada.
The short tail is actually a minature tail, all the tail bones are there. The JBT tail is the result of two recessive genes, Manx tails result from one gene.
I am owned by a JBT. He’s traveled with me plus Chihuahua from Seattle to Miami, round trip, 3 times. He loves Interstate hi way rest stops. No fear of other dogs. He walks on a leash, no training required.
Best cats ever. My guy is friendly with everyone he meets, loves people and loves belly rubs. He can spot a cat person and goes up to his victim and rolls over for a belly rub, person turns into a puddle of emotions. Cats aren’t suppose to do the belly rub thing. My furkids haven’t read that book.
Back to lurking. (Yes, Trump and Sanders are two sides of the same coin. This election is a teachable moment to learn about untreated mental illness. IMHO. )
sacrablue
@satby: Thanks, satby. Sorry to read about your house and tree. I hope your animals weren’t too traumatized.
sacrablue
@Barb2: Your Japanese Bobtail description sounds just like him. He flops down for a belly rub anywhere and for anyone. He was instantly comfortable with all of us (except the semi-feral).

How far does the owner deliver?

Wish I were in the area. He’s my kind of cat….I wish him a happy forever home — soon…
ruemara
Staaaahhhppp. Because he’s adorable. And I could use a cat. even if I shouldn’t.
sacrablue
@ruemara: He is a complete and total lovebug. He is absolutely my kind of cat. If Laura decides she doesn’t feel able to take him I will let you know. He really is special!
dlwchico
I’m in Chico and am sorely tempted by this cat. Unfortunately we already have two and a dog and the wife has said that is our max.
sacrablue
@dlwchico: Don’t feel bad. I’ve spent an entire month trying to talk myself out of sending out this bleg. A couple of people have mentioned new kittens, so I thought it was now or never.
RealityBites
A little ot, but has anyone else had a problem contacting a FPer? Tried more than once – wasn’t sure my message was sending. Figured someone would at least let me know if the message sent through.
RealityBites
Really great looking cat. If I didn’t have 5 already and live too far away ……
Pinacacci
He is magnificent. Someone is going to be very lucky to be owned by him.
