    Me too. Die Mannschaft have four World Cup stars over the Deutscher Fussball-Bund badge on their shirts; the Slovakians have none over their FA badge. Plus, something tells me the Germans haven’t hit top gear yet.

    Benching Götze for Draxler was a good decision. Draxler looks much more dangerous. Maybe Löw has accepted that Götze really isn’t better than Messi.

    @Amir Khalid: I’m just curious: is being fluent in English helping you with German? I understand Malay isn’t that hard for Westerners to grasp except the total lack of cognates.

    I think it does help. I find Romance languages much harder going. Malay is easier in some ways than European languages (no tenses, no gendered personal pronouns, no word for “to be”) but harder in others (nuances of register can be very tricky).
