Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

This fight is for everything.

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Despite his magical powers, I don’t think Trump is thinking this through, to be honest.

People are complicated. Love is not.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Take your GOP plan out of the witness protection program.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Everybody saw this coming.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Battle won, war still ongoing.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

    Wow, that is very tempting – ‘twould be a long drive, tho’!

    It’s actually Scamp Dog,in memory of a retriever mutt who loved to sneak up on the other dog, nip her tail, and run around while she barked at him. As a very dignified Chesapeake Bay Retriever, she was appalled at this sort of thing, but we humans thought it was hilarious.

    But I’m looking forward to the get-together none the less! I hope other metro Denver Juicers will be able to make it, too.

    Kaine is Hillarys Biden. It’s a chemistry thing, and wait until he gives his first speech in Spanish.

    @Percysowner: the progressives aren’t happy.

    well, for some of them, that’s the only time they are happy.

    I notice how they call themselves “progressives” as though no one else in the Democratic party were progressive.

    I am in Denver, and I can’t make it to Golden tomorrow but it sounds like fun and I am sorry I will miss it.

    Hillary, I saw a flyer for VegFest at Starbucks the other day and your name was on it. Yay for BJ synchronicity!

    Not sure if I can make Monday lunch but if something is planned, I will keep my eye out for it. There are two great restaurants at Union Station and many nearby. I am also vegetarian so I can attest to where you will find the most options.

    Welcome to CO!

    @Run, Lillian!: Thanks RL! Monday is pretty informal; I’ll be hanging out and walking around waiting for the eastbound train. So if you have an hour for lunch let’s try to share it.

    @Hillary Rettig:

    What time is your train? I have a doctor’s appt. out in Centennial at 11 on Monday, but want to see what I can make work.

    Well, lets figure out something then. I am trying to think whether I should suggest a vegetarian restaurant or just a spot with good options. I think I could meet at like 1.

    Also, if you are wandering around downtown and like art, I cannot recommend the Women of Abstract Expressionism exhibit enough. It is wonderful! and the Denver Art Museum is definitely something to see.

    I am in Denver, so count me in! I am a nasty old 1992 era Clintonista and sometimes Virginia Democrat, so I will have some thoughts to share on Hillary and Tim Kaine.

    How do I e-mail you?

    @Run, Lillian!:

    I won’t be able to attend either event, but kids interfere on Sunday and work on Monday. As far as restaurants near UnionStation are concerned, I highly recommend Stoic and Gunuine. By far the best fried oyster sandwich I’ve ever had. Amazing beading and the oysters were barely warmed. It was eating fantastic oysters on the half shell deep fried but still raw. The contrast was unbelievable.

    And have a drink at the Terminal Bar. It’s named after a bar that used to be located a block away. The original was a skid row classic featured in the title track of Tom Waits’ album Nighthawks at the Diner.

    I’d be in for Monday lunch too-seconding Run, Lillian! there are some lovely restaurants by Union Station. I work downtown and lunch is reasonably flexible.

    I’m running down from Summit County to drop off some friends at Denver Union Station on Monday, but not till about 3pm. Too late even for a late lunch I would think. Too bad the Denver Art Museum is closed on Monday. I actually had a very nice lunch there once (and saw the museum which was very good).
