Sunday’s Golden, CO, Balloon Juice get-together with be held at New Peach Garden, 1111 Washington Ave Ste 10, Golden, CO 8040. Starfish, Scamp Dog, and I are meeting at 7 p.m. and you’re invited! Please email me if you’re attending.
On Monday I will be rattling around downtown Denver (near Union Station) and if anyone is wants to have lunch that would be great. Flexible as to time, and willing to travel a bit, so long as the directions are idiot-proof. Email me!
Wow, that is very tempting – ‘twould be a long drive, tho’!
It’s actually Scamp Dog,in memory of a retriever mutt who loved to sneak up on the other dog, nip her tail, and run around while she barked at him. As a very dignified Chesapeake Bay Retriever, she was appalled at this sort of thing, but we humans thought it was hilarious.
But I’m looking forward to the get-together none the less! I hope other metro Denver Juicers will be able to make it, too.
Major Major Major Major
You kids have fun :)
And it’s Kaine.
It’s Kaine and the progressives aren’t happy.
the Conster, la Citoyenne
Kaine is Hillarys Biden. It’s a chemistry thing, and wait until he gives his first speech in Spanish.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
well, for some of them, that’s the only time they are happy.
the Conster, la Citoyenne
@the Conster, la Citoyenne: That is how I see it, as MSNBC says, he is someone she can work with everyday. I trust her judgment.
I notice how they call themselves “progressives” as though no one else in the Democratic party were progressive.
I am in Denver, and I can’t make it to Golden tomorrow but it sounds like fun and I am sorry I will miss it.
Hillary, I saw a flyer for VegFest at Starbucks the other day and your name was on it. Yay for BJ synchronicity!
Not sure if I can make Monday lunch but if something is planned, I will keep my eye out for it. There are two great restaurants at Union Station and many nearby. I am also vegetarian so I can attest to where you will find the most options.
Welcome to CO!
@Scamp Dog: aw gee, I’m sorry. and fixed!
@Run, Lillian!: Thanks RL! Monday is pretty informal; I’ll be hanging out and walking around waiting for the eastbound train. So if you have an hour for lunch let’s try to share it.
What time is your train? I have a doctor’s appt. out in Centennial at 11 on Monday, but want to see what I can make work.
@Run, Lillian!: 7:00 pm so I’m quite flexible!
Well, lets figure out something then. I am trying to think whether I should suggest a vegetarian restaurant or just a spot with good options. I think I could meet at like 1.
Also, if you are wandering around downtown and like art, I cannot recommend the Women of Abstract Expressionism exhibit enough. It is wonderful! and the Denver Art Museum is definitely something to see.
I am in Denver, so count me in! I am a nasty old 1992 era Clintonista and sometimes Virginia Democrat, so I will have some thoughts to share on Hillary and Tim Kaine.
How do I e-mail you?
I won’t be able to attend either event, but kids interfere on Sunday and work on Monday. As far as restaurants near UnionStation are concerned, I highly recommend Stoic and Gunuine. By far the best fried oyster sandwich I’ve ever had. Amazing beading and the oysters were barely warmed. It was eating fantastic oysters on the half shell deep fried but still raw. The contrast was unbelievable.
And have a drink at the Terminal Bar. It’s named after a bar that used to be located a block away. The original was a skid row classic featured in the title track of Tom Waits’ album Nighthawks at the Diner.
Not sure why my comment about Tom Waits and LoDo Denver is in moderation

I’d be in for Monday lunch too-seconding Run, Lillian! there are some lovely restaurants by Union Station. I work downtown and lunch is reasonably flexible.
I’m running down from Summit County to drop off some friends at Denver Union Station on Monday, but not till about 3pm. Too late even for a late lunch I would think. Too bad the Denver Art Museum is closed on Monday. I actually had a very nice lunch there once (and saw the museum which was very good).
