At this point, we don’t know if WikiLeaks is planning on releasing more embarrassing and inconvenient emails or if all the emails that get dumped will be stolen from the Democrats. Perhaps some problematic Republican emails have been pilfered, too. What we do know, though, is that prominent Republicans are setting Hillary Clinton up to take the blame if more evidence of hacking takes place. Here’s RNC Chairman Reince Priebus talking on the Hugh Hewitt radio show:
Of course, the DNC wasn’t using a server in Hillary Clinton’s house, and there’s no reason to believe that her emails have been hacked by the Russians. According the forensic investigation, there’s no evidence that they were, anyway. But Priebus wanted to blame her “sloppiness” for any future thefts regardless of where they were stolen from.
Priebus denied knowing anything, but speculated on the motives of people that “like to play games” and said usually more do follow.

I was queued up on my Iphone while at work for about 20 minutes (after I had to search my email for the code, I deleted by mistake!!!). I was gonna try to get 2 tickets, and hope to find someone to go with, but 2 tickets weren’t available. But…I was able to get one for Sunday Aug 21st.
So I’m making plans to go to LA from Sat Aug 20 to Tues Aug 23!
Woohoo.

Every place people hate their lives and themselves is Trump Country. We are a deeply sick society for a wide variety of reasons. The fact we appear to be an entire country without a single mirror is probably the biggest one. I know it won’t happen, but how I wish Obama, the sanest President of my lifetime, which goes back to Ike, told white people with those bumperstickers. their whining loserdom was what was making them feel terrible, not their fellow Americans. He could end with, “maybe you should’ve worked harder in school, like I did.”

O/T but urgent (to me, anyhow). This has happened pretty much every night of both the RNC and now the DNC. I stream one of the live feeds, and all goes more-or-less well for a while, and then either it quits altogether, or suddenly reboots to an hour or so earlier. For instance, I was just enjoying listening to Jerry Brown, and in the middle of a sentence the feed kicked back to Martin O’Malley.
I’m watching on my iPhone so I can follow and comment here on my iPad. Safari. Any suggestions before the big headliners get started?

@Mnemosyne: Impressive to hear the crowd that has been so loud during other speeches get so quiet when she started speaking about her son and Orlando. Very very powerful indeed.

@SiubhanDuinne: I got an e-mail Monday that he was going to be on sometime after 7 PM tonight so I stuck around to see it in real time, holding my breath at what sort of reception he’d get.
As a friend of MOM’s for the last 29 years. let me say thanks to all for the fine & spirited reception for a spirited & rousing speech by a dedicated & determined Democrat!

Ugh…comment in moderation…don’t know why?

@Cacti: I go to them regularly; I’ll be doing Scottish Country dancing Labor Day weekend in Pleasanton, CA. I haven’t been to the Seattle games, so there’ll be some different events.
There are two kinds of dancing: Highland and Country. Highland is the performance dancing; think sword dances and Sailor’s Hornpipe. That’s usually a judged competition. SCD is a social dance like square dancing. I’ve never seen competitions; usually performance and adjudication (critical evaluation, but no ranking.)
The athletic events are a must see. There’s the caber toss, which is the most distinctive event. They’ll try to flip a large wooden post end-over-end. The ideal is to get it at 12 o’clock, in line with the path of the tosser. The other events are variations on lifting and throwing large objects.
I see from the website that they’ll have several performers I like. Don’t miss Wicked Tickers. They do a kind of “tribal” take on pipes and drums, along with didgeridoo and Irish horn. Tempest is a Celtic rock band; electric guitars along with the pipes. Men of Worth and Golden Bough are more traditional folk. I haven’t seen the others.
Stop in at the tent of your clan if you want know about the clan history.
There’s usually a pipe band competition, or you can watch the massed bands at the closing ceremonies. There are always a lot of vendors selling British food (not just haggis), crafts, etc. Get yourself a kilt!

@SiubhanDuinne: I’m watching via chrome, so dunno if it’s a Safari issue, but I’ve been enjoying it this entire afternoon via Dem Convention and haven’t had any problems.
I’d also suggest that you turn your wireless off and on on your devices and see if that is of any help.

@SiubhanDuinne: There are too many elements. Your connection, the amount of traffic on your ISP and then how many people are hitting the site you are trying to hit. Radio maybe?

@rikyrah: A perfect spot, isn’t it? I’m thrilled!

@guachi:
Gosh, it sure is a weird coincidence how many True Progressives separately but simultaneously became Very Concerned about having too many Identity Politics on stage at the convention.

Thanks to all who provided suggestions/advice. All I’m getting now are Spanish-language translations.
Will try watching on iPad for a while, which means I won’t get to see y’all’s sterling commentary, nor participate in it for a while.

All three of my brothers are Republicans. The least rabid of them has decided to support Gary Johnson. Fine with me since that’s one less GOP vote. I’m hoping he’ll have some influence on my youngest brother. I’ve cut off the third brother, who supports Trump and still questions the birth certificate. He’s just a bastard.

More post up top, just incidentally…

@James E Powell: The Joe I want to hear from is the Joe Barack Obama introduced as his running mate in 2008, when he said, “Nobody messes with Joe.”
I want THAT Joe, please.

@dmsilev:
Agreed, but he would accuse Hillary Clinton of wanting to sap our precious bodily fluids. He’s already an anti-vaxer; how long before he comes out against fluoridation of our drinking water?

@Baud: The season is early and I don’t pretend to scout the entire site. Just for giggles I should get a pic of one of our local ammosexuals, who formerly had a Gadsden flag on his ride. Now he’s upgraded to a half a dozen loud and proud gun fondler stickers, most notably “Fuck Gun Control” where the F and L are replaced with stylized rifles. I will give him points for originality with the “stick family” composed of assorted long arms. It’s a real special bunch in this area.

@Jim, Foolish Literalist:
On Reddit? No one would know you weren’t a regular redditor if you asked him this:
“Is Ivanka hotter than Ivana was when you first met her?”
“Follow-up, if Ivanka is hotter, can you imagine how much even hotter the baby would be if you had one with her?”

@Technocrat: Again, had to reply to this. Yes. The “normalizing” of racist, evil, psychotic behavior is why I reference media as the mainslime media.

@Cacti:
Caber toss, bagpipes. Sword dancing (girls!) with bagpipes.
The Caber toss is throwing a telephone pole for distance.
The sword dancing is pretty girls dancing to drums and pipes.
Scotch is, well, we know what that is… it’s what makes all the other Scots stuff possible!

Enhanced Voting Techniques
I am surprised no one is asking the obvious questions; what does this mean to the GOP nomination race? I mean that was a mighty strange race how all the other Republicans were soft-balling Trump on his obvious weak spots, like was someone blackmailing them with hacked e-mails?
