Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

I really should read my own blog.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Donald Trump really has encouraged all the worst Republicans of the past forty years to crawl back from under their rocks into the media spotlight, hasn’t he?

And they’re garnering new fans, too…

"Fuck you, Hillary!" "Kill her!" "Hillary's a whore!" "Hang the bitch!"

This is one hell of a supercut. https://t.co/er6iUcmaaO

Notice, unfortunately, there’ more than a few young bros among the AARP Trumplodytes. And of course some folks have brought their kids, just like their granpas would’ve brought them to a public lynching…

    The WH releasing money to Iran for the release of prisoners will be the big story pushed by the media this week.

    I know the money Iran got was their money, from the sale of oil and gas that was frozen due to the embargo, but I doubt the media will bother with such pesky details and go straight to wondering, if Team Obama violated U.S, policy of not paying ransoms.

    I mean, how long can we expect to the media to report about how terrible Trump is?

    They have to be “fair and balanced”. I bet we’ll see some more late breaking revelations about Hillary’s email server soon.

    With all the other nonsense that happened today, I can see that the NYPD commissioner trashing Trump didn’t get play, but it’s big, and it could drag Trump into a bad story. He said Trump probably has never taken a punch in his life, and trashed the way Trump has been acting and talking — here’s the video of the Bratton interview.

    Actually, in this case it was money Iran had already paid for an arms sale that was cancelled after the revolution. They recently got a judgment that the current government was entitled to it.

    Speaking of “back in the day” personalities:

    Actor Clint Eastwood has backed Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in the upcoming presidential election and bemoaned the current ‘p***y generation’ of political correctness … the actor-director hailed Trump as a foe of political correctness and ‘the kiss-ass generation.’

    The irony of the “politically incorrect” crowd is that political incorrectness is the politically correct term for “I want to be as big an a**hole as I possibly can be yet suffer no public repercussions for it.” Yes the 1st Amendment allows you to say obnoxious things, but it provides no immunity from the rest of us viewing the offender as a complete loser.

    Not really a First Amendment issue, which is about government interference with speech.

    It’s more a social courtesy issue. People like Eastwood and his friends could freely say vile things about various groups and women because there were usually too few (if any) members of those groups around to effectively counter the bullshit.

    I wonder how the studio releasing his upcoming movie “Sully” feels about Eastwood’s frankness?

    We went to a farm and the kid and dog ran all around with the farmer’s dogs and kids. We came home, ate dinner and then the dog and kid fell asleep together on the dog bed next to the fan. I couldn’t wake them up to go to bed so I covered them with a blankie. I keep checking on them and they are just totally zonked out. They look very sweet curled up together so I guess I’ll just give up trying to get them to go to bed.

    So, Trump campaign claims that in July they raised $82 Million, mostly from small donors.

    @Peter:

    No! Small donations are the easiest way to slip in huge donations from illegal sources – like Russia. Small donations are harder to trace. Cannon fire blog has a blog post about small donations.

    Suddenly team Trump figures out email fund drive – with most of email pleas for funds hitting the trash? Good pr to send funding pleas to high profile European addresses. See he is doing something.

    @different-church-lady: No, Canada [+36M]would be second…..only behind California [+38M].

    I suggested that if we absorbed the states into Canada, we would add about thirty new provinces. No need for separate Dakotas and Carolinas. Ditto for the Virginia situation too. Collect some of the New England states together [RI/Mass/Conn and Vermont/NH/ Maine] and the Rebel alliance too [Miss/Ala/La./Ark.]. Jam Wash. and Oregon together, and then Mont./Wyoming/Idaho. Alaska gets to be a part of the The North with Yukon, NWT, and Nunavut. Nevada and Arizona would be a nice fit, and Texas gets enlarged by adding NM and Oklahoma [that would be funny]. Finally NJ/MD/Delaware and DC are the final province.
    For all that you will get single payer health care, and a political system that would really reflect the splintered consensus you currently have. Minority governments forever!
    BTW, our Senators are old, powerless, and appointed, so another win there.

    But why you’d admit then as a single state with a larger land area than the other 50 combined is beyond me. Chip off BC & Nova Scotia first & let the rest come tumbling down gradually…
