Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

Cancel the cowardly Times and Post and set up an equivalent monthly donation to ProPublica.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Is trump is trying to break black America over his knee? signs point to ‘yes’.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

Books are my comfort food!

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

Friday Night Walter Update

Debit writes:

He went in for blood work last weekend and the results came back: no lingering anemia and no damage to his organs from the Rimadyl. According to my vet, “All is well on Planet Walter.” He’s going in again this Saturday for his first dose of Adequan, and so I can be shown how to do the injections myself. I also want his tumors biopsied and to discuss their possible removal. The one along his rib cage seems like it might be causing him discomfort since he scratches at it sometimes.

His weight is holding steady right at 88 pounds, and he seems to be feeling pretty good. I have caught him sleeping on the sofa in the living room, so for sure he’s feeling good enough to scramble up there.

It’s now been just about a month since he came to me. Here’s a video I took tonight of him in the back yard looking for the elusive squirrel. It’s hard to believe he’s the same dog you found at the start of August.

Debit

That’s not the same dog that left my house a month ago. I think Debit is selling herself short here. Here’s a sweet pic of Walter and Ellie sitting in front of the fire place:

fireplace

And finally, a bonus video of the old married couple holding hands while warming their old bones:

All together now, “Awwwwwwww.”

I don’t know if you seen this clip from ABC News showing President Obama trying to get Air Force One off the ground but for one traveler lagging behind.

I am going to see if it works because my mobile device has trouble with the link button.

    @Joyce H:

Today they diagnosed him with a moderate case of laryngeal paralysis. It’s not a super huge thing, but it was another reason he was not a good candidate for the injections trial, as that required anesthesia and laryngeal paralysis complicates matters. It also explains the excessive panting and his lack of barking.

California has passed a few new laws:

Mandatory minimum sentences for raping someone when they are drunk
Removing the statute of limitations on rape
Students can be expelled for cyberbullying
Mandate that all single occupancy bathrooms public or in businesses be designated as ‘all gender’
It’s now illegal to distribute secret recordings like the Planned Parenthood videos (publisher was a CA company)
Cities and counties can now create small-donor public financing programs for elections (citizen funded).

    debit

    October 1, 2016 at 9:06 am

@Pogonip: Not to give the former owner any credit (also hate that guy) but some dogs just don’t play with toys. Chloe never did. I’d throw a ball and her ears would perk up, she’d look at the ball as it went by, then looked back at me as if to say, “Yep. That sure was a ball. Got any treats?”

It’s a shame he can’t come to visit here in West Deplorable and Just Happen to slip his leash as we walk by the neighbor’s squirrel feeder…

I have a squirrel feeder too, in the tree the dogs circled. Not because I like the little buggers, but in hopes they leave the harder to get to bird feeders alone.

@Joy: Thanks but like I’ve said before, I feel entirely selfish. Seeing him healthy and happy makes me happy. He really is the sweetest, gentlest dog and everyone who’s met him wants to take him home. My parents were over for dinner a couple weeks ago and my dad (who is a curmudgeon) got down on the floor to help Walter scratch an itchy spot he couldn’t quite reach. Dad said, as they were leaving, “Soooooo, if you need us to, we’ll take Walter home with us.” As if.

@LAO: Best of luck!! My fingers and toes are crossed. :)

Walter! This makes me so happy!

I am a bit crazed today because (in a moment of insanity 8 weeks ago) I offered to host our neighborhood outdoor party today. Abut 75 houses invited. What was I thinking?!?!?!

Still, I took a moment to read this thread while I ate breakfast, and now I have to jump up and get back to work. I only had time to read one thread, so of course I chose Walter!
