Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

Of course you can have champagne before noon. That’s why orange juice was invented.

You are either for trump or for democracy. Pick one.

To the privileged, equality seems like oppression.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Too little, too late, ftfnyt. fuck all the way off.

This is dead girl, live boy, a goat, two wetsuits and a dildo territory.  oh, and pink furry handcuffs.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

Fucking consultants! (of the political variety)

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Good lord, these people are nuts.

The willow is too close to the house.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Consistently wrong since 2002

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

I know we’re all supposed to hate Kanye now because he’s a pompous asshole, but he will always have a place in my heart simply because of that video.

And in the new one, I love the awkward silence just before the host is like, Uh, yeahhhh, let’s cut to a commercial …

I’ll give ol’ leer face the benefit of the doubt and assume he doesn’t have training in how to manage facial expressions when on a TV panel discussing the most recent news about an extremely offensive thing the family values strict serious daddy Republican presidential candidate said.

That said, not sure training would be enough. Probably a person requires a natural gift to keep a sober expression when discussing an apeshit presidential candidate who could easily wreck the country.

the entire clip where the Trump chick tries to say Ann should stop saying it cause she was offended and her daughter was watching or something and Ann says you’re offended by me saying but not Donald Trump…

Ann Navarro is usually a GOP hack…and u can bet if not for Trump she’s likely be towing the line for Jeb, Marco or even Cruz.

But i HAD to give her props for this

@lamh36: Pet peeve: it’s toeing the line (as in lining up in a nice neat row), not towing the line.

    But yeah.

Aside to John C @ top: it wasn’t clear to me what replaced what, I thought the last link was to the new thing, not the old thing. (Probably in part because, on purpose, I don’t get live twitter video without first allowing it through. Have to enable twitter video, then can click on the first item to get the new thing, rather than Kanye West startling Mike Meyers.)

Let me just add another item that I will be looking at with joy in the coming days.

Predictwise had Hillary Clinton with an 80% chance of victory at 3:15 (I’m not sure what time zone).

She has an 85% chance of victory at 11:15. Eight hours / five point jump.

She has been on an absolute tear this election. She’s genuinely and totally offended by the GOP nominated a complete scumbag of a human being for president. Contrast her disgust with the lack of from supposed evangelicals like Tony Perkins, who responded with “I don’t share his values, but I share his concerns”, and that of Ralph Reed (stating this would be pretty low on a list of voters’ concerns). Hell, contrast the disgust of every Mormon in a national office vs. that of these “evangelicals”. Say what you want about the Mormon sect, but at least they exhibit some principles consistent with their espoused beliefs.

I know I’m not original in saying this, but if this is the moment that a bunch of GOPers use to bail on Trump (in no small part because he was already starting to look pretty loserish on Nov 8), it says plenty about how the GOP doesn’t care if you are black, Latino, disabled, or a host of other groups that he’s slagged repeatedly.

There is no easy way out now for anyone who didn’t kick him in the groin months ago (You, Ryan. And McConnell. Plenty of others).

I will rarely do this, but I give props to Linsey Graham, and to John Kasich and even the Mittbot. There are a few other Repubs who had the guts to say what everyone knew. But not very damn many.

I hope the GOP rips itself apart in the aftermath. They have done everything to deserve this ultimate own-goal.

    October 8, 2016 at 2:46 am

@Keith P.: This prompts another thought: I hope this ruins the ripoff gravy train for people like Reed. Sure, some suckers will still go to the values voters summit (wtf does that mean post-Trump?). But for a while now I’ve been hearing that rank and file evangelicals have been tiring of engaging politics too much, they feel (correctly!) that they’ve been played.

Now that we see people like Giuliani say that everyone (male, that is) cheats, they just have to ask for priestly forgiveness after, and then the Trumpengroper, well there is no bloom of innocence any Faith and Freedom huckster can hide behind any more.

The Mexicans, the Kahn family, McCain not being a hero because he was caught. All are things that my moral compass got spun about.

This time it’s different. When you cross the final cringe line of REALLY wrong, to a further deepness of entitled deplorable scum, something happens. . Being a Haole I don’t know if whiteness has anything to do with this being the tripwire that ended his presidential bid. How could all moral and ethical bias be set aside before being explained as racism? At what point in our collective moral decay does a light flash and we say, that is too far and too egregious to accept. It seems that this has finally has happened.

Was it “tic tacs”? Or “when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything?” or the much publicised, “Grab them by the pussy” ?.

At some point moral outrage turns others to see moral indignation. The halo disappears soon. The wheel stops spinning. The con ends. The rats swim away. The music stops. Then restarts, “Let me take you down, cause I’m going to Strawberry Fields. Nothing is real.

Thankfully it’s over. The American people and the world can shake off what would have been a global disaster. Are we stupid enough to get this close again ? We need to look back and examine how close they came to the cliff, then build some solid barriers.

    Peace

Andre bauer’s face on hearing that is strait creepy. Of course, he’s the piece of shit that argued people on assistance are akin to animals that should be starved before they breed. Here’s the quote, which should be tattooed across his sloping forehead

“My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals,” Bauer said during a town hall meeting. “You know why? Because they breed. You’re facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don’t… think too much further than that. And so what you’ve got to do is you’ve got to curtail that type of behavior. They don’t know any better.”

@Prescott Cactus: what’s making them finally turn on him is the crassness he uses to talk about women, as objects to be used and abused. But really it’s not much different than a lot of anti woman legislation that all those fuckers have been pushing in the guise of “protecting” women. Legislating transvaginal ultrasounds for abortion, just another way to grab a pu$sy.

Yesterday was wonderful, but not wonderful enough. I thin Ms Clinton is just getting started. I will make a prediction. Within the next 4 days, and possibly as early as tomorrow night at the debate, there will be another mind blowing escalation about Donald that will blow p=sstgate out of the water This will be followed by an ever increasing fountain of truth that will last until the weekend before Election Day.

Donald will be lucky to reach crazificatiin factor by the end of it.

Gary Johnson may come in second to Hillary.

There’s not enough popcorn to satisfy my appetite for the destruction of the GOP over the next few weeks.
