Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

All hail the time of the bunny!

Not all heroes wear capes.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

How any woman could possibly vote for this smug smarmy piece of misogynistic crap is beyond understanding.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

He really is that stupid.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

I’ve been looking forward to tonight’s opening Sabres game for months and their world class superstar teenager Jsck Eichel badly for signed his ankle yesterday. Could miss a month or two. Sigh. It sucks about Crosby’s concussion, too. It’s a rough game.

Speaking as a Hurricanes fan, I love this feeling: Opening day of a sporting season and my team is still technically in the hunt for the championship trophy.

Sharks won their home opener against the Kings last night. Maybe I’ll go to a game this year.

The Toronto Sun is hyping the fact that the Maple Leafs’ 1st-round draft pick scored four goals in his first game, making him a combination of Howe, Gretzky, Lemieux, and Jacques Plante. Stanley Cups are sure to come quick and often. The Leafs’ standard operating procedure in these situations is to increase ticket prices, vote everybody in the head office a large bonus, and surround their star with a core of overpriced, over-the-hill veterans who can keep the team competitive until the star is too old to be the nucleus of an actual winning team.

Let me say for the record that I think the Maple Leafs are a “team of destiny”, ordained by fate to break the Chicago Cubs’ record of consecutive years without winning a championship. The Cubs will have to actually win before we know how long it will be before the Leafs win the Cup.

The Gophers are 3-1. God, I hate playing Bemidji. Looking forward to this weekend’s series against the possibly resurgent Dawgs.

@Origuy: or just go to Henry’s High Life and convert the cost of a ticket into a prime rib and drinkies.
Also, some hockey playing occasionally broke out last night, interrupting the fight.

Either that or, more likely, the thugs will work him over every game until he is dinged up enough that he can hardly lift his arms or make sharp turns anymore and he will become average.

@Splitting Image: Well, as a long-time depressed Leafs fan, he’s brought some hope back to the city. 4 goals in his first game is already one for the record books. Not a bad way to start a career!

I’m with you Cole, kinda glad that the Penguins prevailed. But It’s going to be another Blackhawk’s year. Have I ever mentioned that I love hockey? Hockey is a constant sports fever that melts the ice. It’s fast and furious, Also, by the way, I love hockey.
