Meet The Newest Member Of The BJ Family

Sorry if I’m stepping on anyone, but I figure I have about 10 minutes of peace before I have to focus all my attention on the 9 month old Great Dane.

We picked her up a couple of hours ago from the Big Bones rescue. She’s adorable and I’ll tell you all about her when we’ve all had some time to settle in.

We are testing out names right now, and I’m thinking Bailey. She seems to like it. I won’t use her old one because I don’t think it has happy memories – though nothing too traumatic in her life, just a lot of stress.

She won’t be as big a Bixby, but she’s gonna be taller….we’ll see how he reacts to that.

    Hmm…doggy does LOOK like a Bailey, but looks like a Muffinsauce, too.

    On the VDE mom front, bad news. She left the building at 1553 PDT, surrounded by family and friends, to go play with her beloved poodle, Charlie, in some sunny field somewhere. 91 years is a heap of years, and she led a very full life, not without its bumps along the way, naturally.

    Best wishes to you. I still think of my mom on her birthday, and now with the Cubs doing well my thoughts go to her and my brother who were both huge fans. I remember my mom and I watching the Cubs win their division in 1984 with tears in our eyes thinking of my brother – he had died at age 17 of muscular dystrophy in 1973.     Sorry for your loss. I still think about my mom often, she died relatively young in 1997 from prolonged exposure to Pall Malls, she acquired her addiction at football games in the 1940s, where they passed out free packs in the crowd of students at Mountaineer Field.

    The first few are always free, ask any pusher man.

    Her mom and sister, who never smoked both made it into their 90s. So glad you had such a long time with your mom, 91 is a good score.

    You have my condolences, VDE… I lost my Mom in 2009 at the age of 69 and while it really sucks, I think about her all of them time and thank her for her sacrifices for us kids.

    Take care of yourself and time will eventually dull the pain, letting the good memories flow… :)
