Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

I am pretty sure these ‘journalists’ were not always such a bootlicking sycophants.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

Let there be snark.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

When we show up, we win.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

“A king is only a king if we bow down.” – Rev. William Barber

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty. ~Thomas Jefferson

I would try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Museums are not America’s attic for its racist shit.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Saw Shin Godzilla last night; hilarious and arch, as a friend described, its like Evangelion adapted shot-for-shot into a live-action movie about Godzilla. (Except more coherent and with more jokes.)

I went and painted for a couple of hours at the home that some young friends are building. It’s out in the woods, lots of stars, good conversation, the smell of fall in Maine…a great break from…almost everything!

Wondering if it’s Cubbie blue or Dodger blue; also wondering if that Fox Sports 1 promo works on anyone:

    Sharpe: (says something)
    Bayless: (about to speak)
Caption: Want to hear what Skip Bayless has to say? You’l have to tune in!

What could possibly be the take rt on that question?

Yes…I was literally just watching this teaser about 1/2 hour ago.

It amazing to me how I really was NOT at all familiar with GoTG before the film. But I still saw it in theatres, since I like Marvel movies.

It was really good and way better than I thought. So I’m excited for this sequel.

Also too, I’d like to hope that Dr Strange (another Marvel property I’m not familiar with) will be just like when I saw GoTG, so good, that I really enjoy it.

I had my molar taken out last week. Two hours of pulling, cutting and drilling because the roots of my teeth are apparently unusually deep. So on one hand with the right hygiene my teeth will last for many more decades, but if I ever need another pulled I’m basically Dustin Hoffmann in Miracle Man.

Did anyone else see the trailer for John Wick 2 released at NYCC?

ICYMI: John Wick 2 Teaser Trailer

I’m a big Keanu fans, so I wanted to see the original John Wick movie in the theatres, but I never got around to it. By the time it came on DVD/BluRay folks had already said how good it was. So I bought the BluRay sight unseen and I man, did I really like that film

I mean, I’m an action film kinda girl, but I’ve never really been one for a “shoot em up” contract killer type of movie…but John Wick was really good and Keanu Reeves was perfect in it.

So yeah, I’m soo psyched for John Wick 2

Endoscopy tomorrow. Knock me out, no half-measure; my gag reflex is my only finely tuned reflex. I know it’s not preferred and is more dangerous, but potentially freaking out mid way through a procedure is dangerous too.

Watched A Noble Intention last night.

Grade just shy of B+. Major weaknesses were letting some scenes go on on too long and some confusing cuts between plot lines. CGI-work was very good.

Caught the final 45 minutes of the first Jack Reacher film last night, now I’d like to see the whole thing again as a setup for the next one out in November. Got MrsFromOhio hooked on the books after I waded through the series, so Reacher is a familiar name in casa de Ohio. I’m looking forward to a Cubs-Indians series more than a Dodgers-Indians series. Unless the Chicagoans can get something going on the road, it’s looking like the latter is likely.

Definitely interested in the John Wick experience; Reeves is one of those lucky ones who broke early and can make a living at picking and choosing. It’ll be fun to see how that changes over the years. Bogus!

I’ve mentioned before that in the historical novel I’m working on, my hero is going to have a half brother who is mixed race, because that stuff happened all the time. I was doing a little more research on the period, and damned if I didn’t find a picture of him!

(That image is from People of Color in European Art History, but I originally found it at Mary Robinette Kowal’s site. That’s right, Jane Austen’s England had black people. And Indian people, and Middle Easterners, and probably at least a few people from China and further east as well.)

    OK, nicely done, Cubs!

ef, the books work a little better in order. Its def pulp fiction, sorry it wasn’t to your liking.
The first film was fun to watch, hopefully the second one is as well.

I’m just finishing the last batch of eggless blueberry mini-muffins (3rd grade class breakfast tomorrow), and once they’re on the rack, washing up the mixing bowls and muffin tins and settling back with beer and popcorn to read the tweets.

It’s a lot less stressful to catch up on the debates after the shouting stops.

I decided to go to the MFA in Boston & viewed 3 exhibits plus the Japanese Garden. After that I checked on my Dad who was sleeping during the debate when I got here. I certainly feel much more like I accomplished something this way, but I wouldn’t recommend my alternative plan of worry-checking for 90 year olds letting their homes get overheated in October heatwaves for everyone.

Holy crap, this is by far the best 8 episodes of tv anywhere on the planet right now. Probably for the year, at least.
