Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

Democrats have delivered the Square Deal, the New Deal, the Fair Deal, and now… the Big Joe Biden Deal.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself. We’re allowed to grow past that.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

We still have time to mess this up!

It’s a new day. Light all those Biden polls of young people on fire and throw away the ashes.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Bogus polls are all they’ve got left. Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls a year from now.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

The gop couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Consistently wrong since 2002

People are complicated. Love is not.

I have more hate for Stein than the Drumpfenstein monster. Most of those morans have very small minds incapable of dealing with the real world often coupled with very serious mental issues. They can be only partly blamed for their fear, hate and ignorance. Dr Stein has no such excuse. I hope she and Ralph Nader spend eternity in hell jamming pineapples up each others ass.

Dear god, she is more than delusional; she is streaming every crackpot in American history. Right now I am streaming Hillary’s rally in Philadelphia live on local tv on another computer. So positive, uplifting and warm. And, yes, I’m an oldie (66) and want her to win so badly. But she is the hope for my nieces and nephews, not the threat the GOP offers.

Hillary Clinton voted for the Iraq war — a huge mistake, sure, and one she says she regrets. But in the minds (I’m SO tempted to say, “minds”) of some people this makes her a war-loving loon. I have a family member — a Stein supporter — who calls her “a bloodthirsty racist” who’s in cahoots with Trump. See, it doesn’t matter which one wins because they’re working together … sort of, but not exactly … but they’re the same because …

And this is a smart, well-educated person. What in the name of fuck* is going on?

I had a discussion with a friend about who Trump go after if he won. The list was

    1) Republicans who have slighted him
    2)Hispanics (deportations, detentions, wall etc)
    3) Jews
    4) Women (let the groping begin, after all now he has a mandate)
    5)White liberal men
    6)Educated republican men
The enforcers will be uneducated white men.
I was in favor of placing jews first because of history, but my friend thinks that jewish community may catch a break because of his son in law and Ivanka. African Americans don’t make the list because they’re already there and we’re all joining them. I don’t know if this is a conversation that’s going on in many non white homes or it’s my pessimistic world view, but I know a few people who’re thinking of getting dual citizenship for their kids. So Jill Stein and any democrat who votes for her needs to burn in hell.

I think there is room in America for a party to the left of the Democrats to at least keep the party in check. It ain’t this Green Party though.

We aren’t going to get there until the Republican party implodes. Our system really doesn’t work well with more than two major parties, or even with minor parties big enough to act as real spoilers. The most likely route to what you’re talking about is for the Republican party to collapse in abject failure and the Democrats to fission.

@Hungry Joe: Okay, I don’t speak for all Iraq vets, but the whole “Killary is a warhawk” really pisses me off for a few reasons, but:

    a) She has admitted that it was a huge mistake. That is FAR MORE than any Iraq vet will get out of Bush, Cheney, COLIN FUCKING POWELL, and their entire cabal, or even out of any Republican (not named Trump). FAR MORE. I’d rather someone admit to a mistake than to toe the line years later when history has proved them wrong. People who can’t admit fault on anything are total and epic assholes.

    b) If you listen to the tape of Stern asking Trump about whether he supported going into Iraq, he’s all “sure, I guess.” Like I mentioned in another thread to hovercraft, WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK. Now, I was not in country during the run up to Iraq (I was stationed in Germany at the time, and damned if I was gonna watch the propaganda bullshit that is Armed Forces Network, and it was long before they finally got cheap internet in the barracks) but I coulda sworn there was a HUGE public debate on whether or not going in was the right thing to do. I know there were protests over it, and rightly so. So please, somebody, anybody, tell me why this piece of shit muthafucka had such ambivalent feelings about something that most people felt so strongly about one way or another? How could someone be so self-centered, so lacking in awareness, so narcissistic that the most he could conjure up for the largest debate about military action in this country since Vietnam was a half-hearted “meh”? Please, somebody break it down Barney style because apparently I am so stupid as to think that every adult and child over the age of 10 or so would have some feels about this shit. And Trump expects me to take him seriously?! Let me tell ya, folks, indifference is worse than support or opposition. At least with those emotions, you take a hard stance one way or the other. I’d rather have a human admit a mistake than a human not muster a single fuck to give on such an important decision. FUCK. THAT. GUY. RUNNING. He is suddenly against Iraq because he has the benefit of time, and his stance is purely for political reasons.

    c) (Only tangentially related but….) It seriously amazes me how different the Green Party here in the U.S. can be sooooo different from the Green Party in Europe. The Greens there are pretty successful, and it probably doesn’t involve being anti-vax or whatever.

Can you tell I am completely over this shit. Hey…..I’m completely over this shit.

We’ll see tomorrow if America looks fascism in the face and makes it blink, or if we drop to our knees and suck it off.
