Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

Maybe you would prefer that we take Joelle’s side in ALL CAPS?

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Somebody needs to explain to DeSantis that nobody needs to do anything to make him look bad.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

The arc of the moral universe doesn’t bend itself. it’s up to us.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

“But what about the lurkers?”

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

I conferred with the team and they all agree – still not tired of winning!

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

President Biden is doing good where he can, and getting it done.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

Books are my comfort food!

It’s not hopeless, and we’re not helpless.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

I drive by the cemetery where Susan B. Anthony is buried on my way to work every day. It’s become a thing, as the kids say, for people to visit her grave as we get ready to have our first woman president.

I read somewhere that the cemetery is staying open late tonight just so that women can go and pay their respects with their ‘I voted’ stickers.

Ooh, I hope it’s that fast for me. I’m going to try to do it before other obligations this morning.

I hope that a similar thing happens on the headstone of Ida B. Wells, in Chicago. She’s buried in Oak Woods Cemetery, 1035 East 67th St, Chicago. Here is the Find-a-grave info with a photo of her headstone.

Also, if you’re in Mississippi, the grave of Fannie Lou Hamer is located in the Fannie Lou Hamer Memorial Garden, Ruleville, Sunflower County, Mississippi, USA

Great to be a member of a Party which is making history back-to-back with its Presidential Nominees. This could never happen on the other side. Trump is proof positive of that.

@manyakitty: Posted below, in and out in less than 10 minutes here in Whitesville. Plenty of people, but everything quiet and efficient. Supporters of a couple of local candidates standing outside with signs in the only sunny spot in the parking lot.

After some minor excitement when the scanner had an issue, things are once again running smoothly at the poll where I’m an observer. About 110 people have voted, I heard one of the poll workers announce.

Just exercised my suburban white privilege to not wait in line while voting. One more banked for Hillary. I feel better about this election having now had the chance to participate. Still terrified by what the other candidate’s presence says about my country, but I’ll get over it as long as I get to say Madame President Elect tomorrow.

Here in Phnom Penh for the last couple of weeks visiting a friend at the embassy. We will have on our best party clothes in a few hours as US citizens and Cambodians alike celebrate Hillary’s historic victory. All through the past month in SE Asia locals and Europeans have asked us, you’re not really going to elect Trump are you? I truly believe the rest of the world is mystified. Just a few more hours and the world will sigh with relief.

I wish the Susan B Anthony List people hadn’t userped her name. Sure, I can believe Susan B didn’t like abortion but the idea that that is what she stood for in her life makes a mockery of her actual life.

What a contrast with Drumph saying this a.m. that if he loses, his campaign will have been “the biggest waste of time in (his) life.”

@cynthia ackerman: That’s (yet another example of) high pressure salesman talk. Attempting to guilt you into closing the purchase, by making you feel blame and shaming you for having “wasted their time” when there are plenty of other customers out on the sales floor they could have been talking to instead.
