When Betty posted this morning about attending the Women’s March on Washington, I saw there were a lot of people going to local marches. There is one in Denver:
Women’s March on Denver
Any Colorado folk want to do a meet-up for the march. Even if I can’t make it, I’ll help organize it.
Why don’t we use this thread to see if we there is any interest for meetups in other cities.
And I’m hoping Betty C and anyone else going to the marches will live blog/tweet their adventures – or at least provide photos after the fact.

Seattle is planning one but the organizers don’t have the route yet. It’s to start at 10am, but we don’t know where yet. Seattle Women’s March

I’ll keep an eye on this thread and probably repost a couple of times in the coming weeks to update everyone on the local marches.

Looking for one in Phoenix. I see one in Tucson.
Comrade Colette Collaboratrice
San Francisco (with links to Oakland and San Jose). I’m going to attend and will also donate a little $$ for event costs. Speaking of which – whether you can attend your local march or not, please consider donating to it to offset organizational and permit costs.

A suggestion going around the Raleigh marchers is to wear your zip code across your back. We’ve had so many protests dismissed as “people bused in from California” that we want a definite statement of “We’re locals!”

Boston Women’s march
And Hilo, and Honolulu has one too.
ETA link fail: the link goes to the Hilo event, I don’t have the Honolulu link.

I am probably going to the Denver march. There are a number of busses coming from the northern suburbs, and there is a bus being brought up from Colorado Springs to get us if there is enough interest to fill the additional bus so I am waiting to get confirmation that I have a place on the bus.

9am, near Old Courthouse. You can get there on MetroLink.
Personally, I feel marched out, but it will be good to get out there and scream it out, too. And you don’t have to buy a damn t-shirt.
debbie
I can’t attend a march, but I’d sure like to buy a pu$$yhat, if only to casually toss it onto a chair when I walk into my Trumpster brother’s house.

The rally in Miami is at Bayfront Park. It’s accessible via MetroMover and there is parking — for a price — all over downtown Miami and at American Airlines Area.

There are at least three others in WA besides the one in Seattle: Olympia/Tacoma (not sure which city it will be held in), Yakima, and Spokane.

I’ll be marching with friends in Eugene, OR.
I put together something for our placards & patches — the underlying rose is lifted from an uncredited photo of graffiti (otherwise I’d credit the artist/photographer). Feel free to use. http://imgur.com/a/d4GAw

San Diego, anyone? I’ll be with friends and family, but a meetup would be … way cool, as the kids are saying these days.

@TaMara (HFG):OK, Tamara, I may just have to come to Denver …depends how I feel after my colonoscopy…

@JPL:
I’m sad to say that this will actually be an improvement over ALL DUE RESPECT with Mark Halpern and sidekick, which is what it’s replacing. Kelly is being replaced on FOX by Greta’s last replacement. Tucker Carlson is moving from 10 to 9. Nice to see that both networks are intent on “improving” their lineups.

@Miss Bianca:
A most fitting procedure for Inauguration Day, methinks. Seriously though, good luck! If you’ve never had one before, the prep is far worse than the thing itself IMHO.

I’m hopeful that arranging a meetup in Washington, DC on the day of the event will be a logistical impossibility. And based on the number of my Facebook friends who appear to be coming to town, and the number of locals hosting other visitors, I’d guess that will be the case.
Chris
@O. Felix Culpa:
Yes. It is. That is a true fact. The most disgusting thing you’ll ever drink.
Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism
We’re having one in Raleigh and one in Charlotte.

There is one in Baton Rouge:

@Currants: @Currants: Thank you so much for posting that. I will be at the one in Boston. Hope to see some other Baloon Juicer’s there.
schrodingers_cat
Is anyone going to the one in Greenfield, MA? Crowds make me claustrophobic, so marches are definitely not my thing. Perhaps a meet-up later?
The Moar You Know
@Chris: The new stuff is fine. You drink a pint of the stuff, drink three pints of water (slam ’em is my advice) and shit nonstop for an hour or two. Repeat in the morning. I have had visits to the dentist that were far worse than my colonoscopy.
The old stuff was truly awful, gotta admit that.
Nelle
I have to be down in Wichita and there will be one there, as well as one in Topeka, Kansas. So three in Kansas and one just over the border in Kansas City, Missouri.
Miss Bianca
@O. Felix Culpa: Not to derail the thread into a discussion of my bowels, but yes…the irony of “the procedure” being scheduled around Inauguration Day has not been lost on me. It was more or less deliberate, not as a commentary on the Inauguration per se but to make sure that I got it while it was still covered as an essential procedure by the ACA.
@ArchTeryx: Dozens? Dear God. You have all my sympathy. Unless you’re doing them for fun, as Martin suggests, in which case, uh.. //
sempronia
Going to San Jose; I wish I could go to the SF event, but I have to stick around San Jose that day.
Chris
@The Moar You Know:
Either “the new stuff” wasn’t invented until after September 2015, or those bastards at the Jacksonville hospital were holding out on me.

@beth: I’ll be there! Maybe we should all where kitty hats?

I’m in San Antonio and plan to drive over to the march in Austin if anyone in the area wants to ride along. Also, a meetup with other Juicers at the Austin march would be great.

This is how my local news tv station website is spinning it. I expect the comment section to be flooded in a few hours by conservatives saying “I don’t see the problem. Russia helped educate the electorate so they could choose wisely.”
I often wonder why I read the comments on my local news websites.

@Chris:
As I understand it, there was bad old stuff, then there was good new stuff, then the good new stuff got taken away because some people abused it for weight-loss purposes and got kidney problems, so we’re back to the bad old stuff. But that was a couple of years ago, so I’m not sure.
raven
@The Moar You Know: The split dose is much better but I don’t know that the stuff itself tastes and different. Drinking it through a straw with Crystal Lite helps a great deal and so does a low fibre diet for several days ahead.

Here’s the march in Vegas. I’m not positive I can go – we’re actually moving to Seattle either that weekend or the next one. If I’m still in town, I’ll be there!
germy
@hovercraft: You should see some of the fucking comments left on my various local TV news websites. You’d weep.
One genius said he had no problem with Russia hacking the election; they were merely providing voters with information (emaiz!) that voters could use to make an intelligent decision (drumpf!)

I admit I mostly lurking here, but seeing all these marches scheduled makes my heart swell. And to see there’s a march in Mexico makes it even better. I hope there are marches worldwide. It’s a beautiful thing. I’ll be doing my part in Pittsburgh as well.
Let’s keep it up!!
Josie
@KarenH:I’m in the northeast corner and don’t know my way around San Antonio very well yet, but we can meet somewhere or I can find you. I’ll need to make sure i have arrangements for animal care and such. I’m out of town right now, but I’ll check into it when I get back next week. Email me if you like through one of the front pagers with your plans and I’ll see what I can work out.

@RoonieRoo: I hope to, yes.

@KarenH: That’s very generous of you. I’ll work on arrangements next week. Never done this before, so I’m kind of excited.

@Stan:
Yes to American flags! And is anybody organizing some marching bands?

@The Moar You Know: The split dose stuff I got was vile. Vaguely fruit-flavored poisonously bitter chemicals. I accidentally drank a shot of liquid floor polish once and it tasted better than Suprep.

@germy: Are you sure that wasn’t my Congressman Chris Collins-R NY That’s pretty much what he said. The hackings revealed the “truth” about how deceitful Democrats are.

@BCHS Class of 1980: Thanks to your post, I just signed up for the St. Pete March. A few days ago, I searched for something close enough but did not find the “sister marches.”
Someone in a different thread said something about BJ folks carrying green balloons so we could recognize each other. Maybe that’s a thing we could do.
ms_canadada
There’s one in Toronto, Ontario, St. Catherines, Ontario, and Buffalo, NY. St. Catherines is closest to me, but my sister-in-law and I are considering crossing the border to go to the one in Buffalo. Resist!
KarenH
@Josie: I sent TaMara a request for your email and she will wait to hear from you, then she will exchange both our emails. It will be easier to work out the details that way.

@germy:
His theater critic days ended long ago. He moved to the NYT Op-Ed page for a few years before leaving the paper. I liked his stuff on both pages. Far better than New York Magazine’s John Simon!
Hungry Joe
Colonoscopies (I’ve had one) are a breeze because they zonk you out, and you kind of drift dreamily through the whole thing. Sigmoidoscopies (I’ve had two) are BAD: It’s a less invasive procedure, so they don’t drug you at all. Count on six or seven minutes of extreme discomfort. The fact that it’s a type of pain I’d never felt before was only mildly distracting. But when it’s over, it’s over. No after-effects at all.
As for drinking The Stuff, I made a huge mistake and watched “Back to the Future III” while going through the process. As a result everything about that movie now disgusts me. (Fortunately the first two flicks remain unaffected.)
Tazj
@ms_canadada: Thank you. I just saw on our local news that Buffalo Resistance organized a protest outside the fundraising event held for Trump today in downtown Buffalo, which was attended by Kellyanne Conway. That was nice to see.
I see on the Buffalo Resistance Twitter feed that they do have marches planned for January 21st. I can’t attend because I work Saturdays but I’m glad to see there is something going on in my area. I’m hoping to make it to the Erie County Democratic Committee meeting on 1/23.

@sempronia:
I would like to go to the San Jose one also. Since San Jose starts at 10, and the SF one is at 4 pm, I might be able to make both. I think I will need a lot of chances to scream that weekend.
I’ll find a green balloon to wear, if that will make it easier to meet up.

@Deborah Elaine Gerish: I’ll be taking the train from the west side of Denver.

I will be at Boston, wearing my Pussy Hat. My knitting group is knitting hats to wear. I have some violently hot pink yarn with reflective thread running through it – I will be like deer’s eyes in car headlights, only pink.
I have more pink yarn, so if anyone wanted one to wear to Boston, we could meet up beforehand.
