Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

It’s not hopeless, and we’re not helpless.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Battle won, war still ongoing.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Don’t expect peaches from an apple tree.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

T R E 4 5 O N

Come on, man.

If West Virginia and San Francisco had a love child.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Never forget that he train is barreling down on Trump, even as he dances on the tracks.

“woke” is the new caravan.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Maybe you would prefer that we take Joelle’s side in ALL CAPS?

Moral March tomorrow

FacebookTweetEmail

The Moral March in Raleigh is tomorrow. The rally and gathering starts at 8:30 and the march itself goes off at 10:00 AM.

Saturday, February 11, 2017
Gather across the street from the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium
2 East South St. Raleigh, NC
Gather and Rally at 8:30 a.m. | March begins at 10 a.m.

The Moral March on Raleigh is part of a love and justice movement. We fight for an intersectional agenda to support public education, economic sustainability, workers’ rights and livable wages, health care For all, medicaid expansion, environmental justice, equal protection under the law without regard to race, immigration status, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation, voting rights for all, and criminal justice.

On February 11, 2017, we will gather at 8:30 a.m. in downtown Raleigh. The opening rally will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the march will begin at 10:00 a.m. after which we will begin the mass People’s Assembly on the doorstep of the State Capitol.

This year, the Moral March on Raleigh will focus on our moral duty to stand against the repeal of the life-saving Affordable Care Act, the legislative tyranny of our extremist-led General Assembly, the racist and unconstitutional gerrymandering which undermines the vote of all North Carolinians, the anti-family, anti-worker, and anti-LGBTQ hate bill 2, and the extremism and lies of Trumpism, which undermine our Democracy at the federal, state and local level. Donald Trump and his administration have undermined our Democracy and democratic institutions by making regressive federal appointments and inviting white nationalists into the White House. They have demonized our immigrant and Muslim brothers and sisters by building a wall on our Mexican border, pushing through an Executive Order which effectively bans many refugees and Muslims from our country, and blaming Latinos for voter fraud that does not exist.

I’ll be there as these are the people and allies who know how to get shit done. I need to hook into their organizing efforts. It will be fun and it will be needed.

Any other Juicers going?

Dude, Liverpool-Spurs comes on at 9:30 who the hell has time to protest oppression and state-sponsored bigotry?

I’m too far away, but I would be interested in what you find out. They got a Democratic governor elected, which didn’t happen in too many places this time.

Me and the family are hoping to go, but the wife and kid are trying to recover from pneumonia/bronchitis/bullshit so we may not make it. The plan is to go, though.

DVD it. The EPL will persist through the Trump Administration – meanwhile, the Trump Administration can only persist if you opt out of effective opposition by sitting on your couch watching TV which could equally be enjoyed later.

I participated in the 1/21 march in Raleigh, but alas am out-of-state for the 2/11 march, in a location where the only upcoming march is the month in about three weeks. I’ll have to be there for the next one.

Not going, but I did attend the launch event for the new Duke Margolis Center yesterday in DC. I made a point to reintroduce myself to Don Taylor (I was one of his students 15 years ago) and congratulate him on his excellent hiring of one David Anderson.

Too far away, but there is a rally in support of Planned Parenthood in front of Cory Gardner’s (spit) Denver office. My pu$$zyhat and I will be there.

    @cmorenc:

You and your sensible shoes and your sensible ideas and your sensible suggestions. This is why you never get invited to parties. I am actually a bit too far away to participate in a march in North Cackalacky, plus considering we have gotten more than 40 inches of rain since October and the hillsides are coming down around our ears there stands a very real chance I can’t get there from here.

    @locus:

That’s awesome. Did you mention incomprehensible phalanxes of text by any chance?

@Miss Bianca: Tomorrow, starting at 1 pm, scheduled to end around 3 pm. One of the things the organizers are doing is having a place where you can write a quick note to Gardner stating why you support PP, with the idea to deliver them to the local office next week.

@Humboldtblue: I have not seen Liverpool play since early December, I think. What I read is the squad isn’t deep yet and they are missing some key players but they can still be brilliant in individual games. I’m not a fan of either team, though I think Klopp is an excellent coach and Liverpool will still be competing 5 years from now while Spurs won’t be so this is Tottenham’s window. It will hopefully be a good game.
