Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Stay strong, because they are weak.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

This blog will pay for itself.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Too little, too late, ftfnyt. fuck all the way off.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Consistently wrong since 2002

2. In Dec, I reported Kuwait – under political pressure – moved their annual party from 4 Seasons to the Trump Hotel https://t.co/EgSBgvoafn

— Judd Legum (@JuddLegum) February 26, 2017

“Trump can’t be bought!” said the Trumplodytes. Yeah, but he can be rented — and for a surprising reasonable fee, given the (previous) value of the office he’s currently befouling…

4. And tonight, by TOTAL COINCIDENCE, Trump is dropping by the Trump Hotel. He's there right now https://t.co/Fefksx6n3L pic.twitter.com/wWXb1NrALB

— Judd Legum (@JuddLegum) February 26, 2017

8. From the White House press pool: "The pool is holding in vans and not being allowed inside the [Trump] hotel."

— Judd Legum (@JuddLegum) February 26, 2017

CAN’T THANK YOU GUYS ENOUGH, REPUBLICANS!

This is what the voters of western Wisconsin and northern Michigan wanted! A president who’s in touch with the Kuwaiti royal family!

It is so blatantly obvious that I laughed out loud when I read the story. Can you imagine the heads exploding if Hilz did something like this as President?

No. Because the effing hypocrites in the House and Senate woulda been chasing after Pres HRC with their zeal about emoluments if she’d retained control over a single B&B, but IOKIYAR.

I try to remember that congresscritters are human, but the smarmy letter I got from Toomey about his complete confidence in Sessions upholding the law has been testing that… Sessions wants to bring us back to a pre-1850 view of civil rights, with chain gangs and everything (Google private prisons…).

Trump nor any member of his family should not be allowed within, I’m going to be generous here, 1/2 mile of any income-generating Trump property anywhere in the world for the duration of his presidency. I’m even willing (not happily) to spot him Trump Tower and Mar-a-Lago, since those are arguably his residences, but no Trump-owned or -labelled hotels, office buildings, apartment complexes, golf courses, retail malls, mixed-use developments, or casinos.

@SiubhanDuinne: He is going to spend every weekend at Mar-a-Largo unless he is at one of his other properties. The tax payers will be paying Billions in travel expenses for him and his family.

more news from the Delaware special election

Ryan GrimVerified account‏ @ ryangrim 1h1 hour ago

Not only did Dems hold the Senate in Delaware today, turnout was roughly double a normal special election. Trump has made nothing normal.
