Hot air and ill-informed banter

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

How do you spell “Teapot Dome” in Cyrillic?

(But if there’s a posthumous Trump WH sex scandal, I’m not sure I wanna think about the parameters.)

Does this scandal have a name yet? All the big scandals since Watergate have been something-gates. Russia-gate sounds stupid and this scandal seems much bigger than a -gate. All the cool scandals get their own name. Watergate. Teapot Dome. What’s this one going to be?

Edit: Iran-Contra wasn’t a -gate. So I guess it got its own name too.

I tend to agree that this scandal is so big that it’s going to rate its own name. Only dinky scandals get “-gate” attached to them.

“Watergate” is a pithy name but it sorta obscures what the whole scandal was about. The whole break-in was just a tiny part of the whole thing. It’s like if we called the 2003 Iraq incursion the Yellowcake War.

There are a lot of people in this country who know there was a thing called “Watergate,” that it was bad, and that Richard Nixon had to resign because of it, but a lot of these people don’t really have a concrete idea of what Nixon did.
