Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

The National Guard is not Batman.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

In my day, never was longer.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Stand up, dammit!

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Dear legacy media: you are not here to influence outcomes and policies you find desirable.

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

Republicans do not pay their debts.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Bark louder, little dog.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

The way to stop violence is to stop manufacturing the hatred that fuels it.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

"There is no evidence to support that claim" of Obama ordering Trump wiretapped, a US official tells me.

Plus they are dumb, you know, but not completely inept. Trump doesn't personally meet fellows named "Alexei" in parking garages.

— Richard M. Nixon (@dick_nixon) March 4, 2017

Of course it’s seriously tragic that the So-Called Leader of the United States (#SCROTUS) is threatening our democracy this way. On the other hand, if we’re gonna re-litigate you-know-what (Waterbedgate?), then at least us aging totebaggers should be able to get some entertainment out of it, yes?

Not only did Obama tap Trump's phones, he stole the strawberry ice cream out of the mess locker.

— Stephen King (@StephenKing) March 4, 2017

@AlGiordano At this rate, the Obama Presidential Library is going to have an entire wing built inside Donald Trump's head.

Oh, it’s already done; the walls are sheetrocked, the wallpaper and paint are finished, the display cases are installed and lighted; all that’s missing are the specific exhibits and explanatory plaques, and they’re going in every day as we speak.

I’d be willing to bet a sawbuck (a nice Belgian beer, eh) that she’s making sure she’s kept in the dark about anything even possibly treasonous. It’s useless to her job, and would only make it harder, if she knew. Totally unnecessary to know the truth, in order to spin complete fabrications.

For my money, it’s gonna be Roger Stone. ISTR reading that in previous iterations of this sad tale (“Rs commit treason; story at 11”) he figured prominently, and somehow always avoided jail time. The implication was that he ratted out his co-conspirators.

Because I’ve hated Roger Stone since he was a fresh little CREEPster in Nixon’s White House, I’m really really hoping Stone’s insane/drunken tweet-bursts last night means the sorry bastid finally got too cocky, left his fingerprints where they couldn’t be buffed away, and is now afraid that some other ratfvcker has beaten him to the sole canary-bird seat.

Even Whitey Bulger had to go on the lam, eventually. And Whitey, give him due credit, knew he was a professional criminal who deserved to end up in jail. Stone’s always thought of himself as a professional “prankster”, jester to every Repub philosopher-king who could be used & abandoned for the lulz (& the lobbyist money).

Trump’s whole campaign / administration is based on “Revenge of the Angry Old White Dudes.” Be a fitting end to the genre if the young hip-by-early-70s-Repub-standard guy with the Nixon tattoo on his back ends up an old man dragged off to jail, raving, because Steve ‘Fat Termite’ Bannon’s would-be-kingmakers can’t even run a halfway professional job of election-stealing!

I am mildly freaked not by the NKs but by my own imagination, which is drawing pictures of Donald Trump alone (except for the Secret Service and the help) at Mar-a-Lago or the White House or Trump Tower, when someone brings him word that the North Koreans are sending missiles toward Japan during a military exercise — and he decides it’s time for him to demonstrate to the world that HE, Trump, is now CoC.
