Jon Ossoff is polling well ahead of the Republicans in the jungle primary in GA-6 and polls show him neck-and-neck in the general. This would be a big win for Dems and would scare the shit out of the Republicans in Congress. So make it rain.

Really rooting for him

Just looking at the title, I thought this was about the ZEGK getting on his knees for Trumpcare votes

In case anyone doubts that these efforts can bear fruit.
So yes this was a heavily democratic district, but still write-ins rarely win.

I think I mentioned this in a thread yesterday, but I did a little mini-fundraiser for him on Facebook, promising I’d kick in another donation if 5 of my friends donated. I got to 5 in a few hours, and at least one of the friends posted the same thing on her wall. It’s worth a try for anyone active on social media – you could do the same thing on Twitter without too much trouble.

Early voting for district 6 started today. The normal site for Roswell early voting is not being used, and instead you have to drive through a ways through heavy traffic to early vote at the east Roswell library. There is also a city council runoff on the 18th. Early voting is April 10th and at that time the Roswell library will be used for early voting in that race, as well as the east Roswell library. If you want to early vote for both elections, you have to do at the east Roswell library after the tenth. Confusing huh! It’s coincidental that Karen Handel has strong support on that side of Roswell.

Uh oh, time to go after the messengers? That’s never a good sign.
Grassley Requests Info From Political Firm Behind Trump-Russia Dossier
By Esme Cribb Published March 27, 2017, 12:44 PM EDT
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Monday requested information from the political opposition research firm behind an explosive document containing allegations of ties between President Donald Trump and Russia.
Grassley sent a letter dated Friday to Fusion GPS requesting that the firm answer questions about who hired the company “to conduct opposition research relating to Mr. Trump and his associates,” when its investigation took place and what relationship the firm had with the FBI, which reportedly paid the firm’s investigator.
The document, which BuzzFeed published in January, remains largely unsubstantiated, though in February CNN reported that multiple unnamed sources within the U.S. intelligence community had corroborated certain communications detailed in it.
“When political opposition research becomes the basis for law enforcement or intelligence efforts, it raises substantial questions about the independence of law enforcement and intelligence from politics,” Grassley wrote. “The Committee requires additional information to evaluate this situation.”
He requested that the company reply in two weeks, by April 7.

Done and shared on my FB page. Thanks, Doug!(!)

OT, and from Fuck the Fucking New York Times, but wow — this could be splendid viewing:
I would love to see what Barry Jenkins does with this.
Immanentize
@hovercraft: I believe the answer to Grassley’s question of who sponsored the oppo research is: Jeb Bush.

Donated.

@JPL: I might also add, that this might help Ossoff because his supporters are going to vote.

@Immanentize:
Since you and everyone else knows that, as I said this is just to muddy the waters and pretend that some nefarious third party hired a foreign agent to do damage to Twitler, see there’s no real Russia connections, this is all the democrats and the I don’t know who, maybe the Chinese, trying to damage the strongest, greatest president in the history of the world.

Even though I live in another district, I signed up yesterday to do poll-watching in the 6th (I did it first in 2014 during Michelle Nunn’s campaign for Senate, and again in 2016 throughout early voting and on Election Day). They will be calling/emailing me soon with locations and dates for this special election.
Don’t know what it’s like in other areas, but in the slice of the district that’s closest to where I live, there are Ossoff signs everywhere! So rare to see signs up for any Democrat, so I feel (guardedly) optimistic.
FlyingToaster
@hovercraft: I believe that the company can tell Grassley to pound sand.
It’s documented how the report was released: the principal investigator gave copies to both the FBI and MI6 last fall; when the FBI instead kept leaking Hillary e-mails, he hand-walked the document into John McCain’s office, who himself hand-walked it into Comey’s. Somewhere in that timeframe, it was leaked to Buzzfeed as well. Buzzfeed is being sued for defamation over one of the allegations in the piece, and they’re the only ones who might have a clue as to who gave it to them (if it just didn’t come in the mail).
Unless there’s a crime (and hence, a supoena) involved, Fusion GPS has no reason to waste their time talking to Congress. It’s certainly none of Grassley’s business who paid for it.
Edited to fix spelling.

@SiubhanDuinne: Not trying to be a debbie downer but as someone who has been a campaign manager in a previous life remember that “signs don’t vote.” If there are folks posting here that live close enough and are healthy enough to help out on the ground, I implore you to contact the campaign and go knock a few doors or help out in the offices next weekend. At this point, with the success they’ve had with fundraising, they need bodies on the ground more than anything else. In particular, they’d probably also appreciate folks who could work on election day to make calls to and visit the doors of the folks who they’ve IDed as supporters. In a special election like this every single vote will matter.
Here is the link for his campaign website.
Here is the campaign phone #: (770) 609-5592.

Okay, who wants to tell me why I couldn’t close out the link I posted in my comment above :)? I tried a couple of things I thought would work, but to no avail. And I should have added thanks for the commitment to poll watching to my above comment as well.
MomSense
@marcopolo:
After you hit OK, type in a few words of text and then hit the link box again to close it out.
marcopolo
@MomSense: TY. Never crossed my mind to hit the link box a second time.

It’s only $20 but I feel better already.

@marcopolo:
After Adam fixed a bunch of my links, some kind commenters explained it to me.

@Nicole:
Thanks!

@JPL: They’ve been trying to get Handel, as the sole female GOP’er with any sort of statewide name recognition, into a state wide office since the mid 2000’s. She struck out each and every time and did herself no favors with the Planned Parenthood break with the Susan G. Komen foundation a few years back. However, I wouldn’t discount her this time. And, yes, the GOP’ers are going to erect every barrier to voting that they can get away with. The traffic is awful and people have to be very committed to go out of their way to vote. Let’s hope that Ossof can energize prospective voters.

Because nobody should ever subject themselves to reading a MoDo column, instead here’s Wonkette with a rundown of MoDo unleashing 100% of her mean girl toolkit all over Dolt45. Yeouch and mrrrrow.
JPL
@dww44: Yes. Early voting will suppress the council candidate that I want. It might inadvertently suppress repub turnout though.

@MomSense:
I assume part of the problem is that the buttons behave differently depending on whether any text is highlighted when you click them. If you highlight some text and then push one of the buttons, it encloses the highlighted text in a pair of tags. If you don’t have any text highlighted when you push the button, it only creates the opening tag; you have to push the button a second time to create the closing tag.

@marcopolo:
Thank you. I haven’t knocked doors this time around, but I have given money and made phone calls and will continue to do so. And yes, I do know that signs don’t vote! I was just surprised to see so many Ossoff signs along a stretch of 141 that always before has had only signs for Republicans. As I said, cautiously optimistic, but I learned long ago not to be complacent.
zhena gogolia
OT, but Trump’s speeches as an emo song are making me cry right now.

@trollhattan:
It was from the comments at that article that I found Trump’s speeches as an emo song (#27).

Finally, Finally, Finally, I get to do something in this god forsaken GA district!!!
Requested my absentee ballot Friday, and one for my SU, and you bet we’ll add 2 votes to the total!

@Roger Moore: yeah, this is definitely a UI no-no ?

@Roger Moore:
I was assuming that marcopolo used the link box properly to add the link but didn’t click the link box a second time to close it out. It sounds like that’s the case because he said it hadn’t occurred to him to click the link box a second time.
I had the same problem.

@zhena gogolia:
Perfect companion to Sassy Trump! Forced to consider his actual words said in something besides his usual bellow, they are always even worse.

Why the Underground Railroad?
We already have Underground.
I’d be interested in a show about the Reconstruction Era.

@MomSense: if you use it with highlighted text and then click it a second time it opens a second tag when you then need to delete or close… could be that too. Who knows? (The shadow knows.)
MisterForkbeard
@zhena gogolia: The funniest thing about this is that it makes Trump’s tweets/words LESS ridiculous, which given the context of an Emo Ballad is pretty impressive.
Turgidson
@marcopolo:
That’s not what Peggy Noonan told me!!
Roger Moore
@MomSense:
My point is that it’s an easy mistake to make, because the procedure is inconsistent. If you highlight some text and then click the button, you don’t have to click a second time to close the tag. If you don’t highlight text- if you just have the cursor sitting there- then you have to click once to open and a second time to close.
MomSense
@Roger Moore:
Interesting. I only comment on an iphone so it would be tough to then highlight the text. I might be able to but I’m not sure.

Donated (again). I’m sure I’ll get another bazillion e-mails asking me to donate (even more, as if I never donated before), but it’s worth it.
The things I do for you people!!11 ;-)
There was a story about the race on NPR’s ATC on the drive home. Lots of Republicans are disillusioned down there. It would be great for Jon to get 50%+1 so that there’s no run-off (and no opportunity for them to rally around the Party). Let’s make it happen!
Fingers crossed.
Cheers,
Scott.

I’d love it if Ossoff took Price’s seat. I’m hoping the ACHA debacle opened up some eyes on what the GOP really intends to do to their healthcare access. payback can be a bitch. I really want to see Handel handed her ass again too. She may have some cachet with radical forced-birthers, but even women who are squishy about abortion rights do not want people screwing with early screening access. Handel really pissed off a lot of survivors and their family members and supporters of Komen when she tried fucking with their Planned Parenthood funding. And Planned Parenthood is still more popular than Twittler and Ryan.
